Thanx for response,Alec. Yeah,I dig the portability opt of two separate 10' cabs, problem is that there's no available STL combos in the sale section at the moment.. Ill see if I can get on with existing combo, but there's a chance Ill need extension because of a loud drummer..
-
I thought those 210 and 212 GB cabs are designed to run with Shuttle 6 to get the most out of them?
-
but, man, new ext cab is a bit too expensive - 420 pounds + shipping to Lithuania.. I got whole (used) Shuttle combo for 450 pounds, I think.. Maybe the 'regular' cab of this combo would do the trick?
-
Hey fellas, I've just got gig that's gonna happen in relatively large venues (monitoring and PA is gonna be there though),so I desperately need a cab to hook along with my Shuttle 3/10T combo to get more 'air' from the amp. I was thinking about the extension cab that GB offers to add for this combo: http://www.bassmerchant.com/item_detail.php?product_id=436 Any experiences about this - 2x10 cabs + Shuttle 3? Problem is that Shuttle 3 doesnt 'handle' larger GB cabs, but I think 2x10 should be enough, what do you think? All opinions welcome, if you have any other brands to offer though, it still must be really lightweight... Laimis

I can't seem to learn to read music......Help!!
Faithless replied to Jazzneck's topic in General Discussion
Learned to read letters? - if so, then you'll learn to read music, if you'll want, of course. All you need to do for starting out is this exercise: http://www.joehubbardbass.com/wp-content/u...er-Exercise.pdf Do it exactly the way it is told there. And, before you ask, YES, this exercise has A LOT to do with reading music and electric bass guitar. -
I once bought Logitech Analog Desktop Mic ("designed" for Skype chats, etc), hoping it would work plugged into USB audio interface, but obviously it didn't, so my best bet on mic's is getting an actual 'vocal' mic, right? Are any really cheap ones that could do the job?
-
Makes sense. I wonder if this interface has your card's feature: http://www.rolandus.com/products/productde...p?ProductId=970 What's my best bet in making it work - buying a mixer and feed a single signal from it to usb interface? But how about headphones with attached mic - I just cant plug them into mixer's/audio interface's Input, see.. So they're not gonna work in this case, right?
-
It may mix the multiple inputs automatically in software, I don't know. Have you tried it yet?
Not really sure, what software do you mean? Laimis

Maybe I'm missing something, but Skype sees soundcard as one unit, so I can't why it wouldn't recognize two signals coming from USB audio interface?
-
Hey peeps, <Mods - sorry for putting this here, but this should be a quickie, if you don't mind...> I'm currently having video lessons via Skype, and, with help of those who have experience with Skype, I wanted to know if Skype does recognize two different sound "sources" coming from USB soundcard (Tascam 122 for now, if that matters - maybe I'll switch to Roland Edirol UA-25EX soon). In this case it should be vocals signal (for communicating) and bass guitar line-in signal. I thought for vocals I'd use headphones+ attached mic , and for the bass - just put it directly into soundcard. Question is if Skype would recognise them both at the same time..? Any ideas are welcome! Thanks, Laimis

Don't know if it's mentioned already, but there's an old trick of mine, which works everytime I have to transcribe basspart - just hook the whole tune up an octave (it will remain in the same key, get the idea? "Transcribe" has this function, but you can do that with other programs, setting +12 semitones), and bass will be in your face - no boominess, just clear bassline. It saves time, and it's better for your ears to listen to this 'midrange' stuff, rather than boomy mushy low-end thing.. Laimis

about to have my first bass lesson on monday..
Faithless replied to Geek99's topic in General Discussion
Seems like you're trying to do too much at one time - if you're working on rhythm, don't mess with the notes - just pick one note, and focus on rhythmic stuff. And forget the metronome, when learning new stuff like that - do this 'out of time', so that you can come back and correct any mistakes you make eventually. -
AT the same, time, the problem is, mate, that, with learning 'language' there's much more involved than focusing working on transcriptions like that only (though it's a very important bit anyway) - you might want to search posts of "Joe Hubbard Bass", or check his website, to get an idea of what you can do about learning language- by the way, its him whom I got this Jarrett stuff from.
-
Do you mean learning 'language'? I think it's all you need to get an idea, what you can be working on: http://www.music.sc.edu/ea/jazz/transcript...20exercises.pdf easy Laimis
-
If I'm correct, Joe Hubbard (who's a member of this site) used to know Jaco a bit, while he lived in USA - maybe he could tell you something about him.

I'm not selling a lot here, but there happen to be a few things from time to time.. easy Laimis

Well, I'm having my bass on my shoulders usually for over 4 hours a day and I'm using Comfort Strapp, but it doesn't seem to help - I'm also experiencing pains in neck/shoulder area.. But then, got to add, it might not be caused by bass.
-
I think there's much more involved into fretless making process than leaving frets out..

That little chordal improv is indeed cool, listened to it quite a few times yesterday. It also gave me an impression that the string spacing was wider, but, then, I think, it's unlikely to be so because Janek is all after economy of motion, and spacing really contributes to that a lot. If I'm correct, when the new bass was just an idea, he thought of going for a 6-string bass, but on the same "5-string' wide neck, which obviously would have made string spacing even tighter, but that idea didn't seem to work out. All in all, a really nice bass (especially, aesthetically), but the man sounds exactly the same, and that's cool. PS What about that slap thing - he said it quite a few times that he doesn't use slap in his own music, because he doesn't find it musical (probably so?), but he's cool to play slap bass for a session (and he seems to have just ok slap chops), if someone asks it for it's own thing.
-
Hey peeps, Don't know if I'm first to announce this, but Janek has just got his new Fodera, and he's made a video for that, you can check it out there: The funny thing is that, at least, to my ears, he sounds literally the same as he did on his 'old' instrument.. You can't beat one's own voice. easy Laimis

Check out that singer's fail in the very end of the tune..

Urb, are you sure it's Hadrien back there?.. Seriously though, it's nice to see than Hadrien is stepping out 'of his comfort zone', if you like, and doing more sideman stuff - this must be one of the most musical situations I've seen him involved in so far. What about the band overall - well, in certain places they sound a bit messy.. But, judging from the musicians in the band (Hadrien, who has to be really busy, sax player - I think I saw him doing some Free stuff on Mezzo with his band, etc.), I suspect this was a 'scratch' gig, so that's probably why they don't sound that tight..
