good god.. I have never had anyone mention the removable head thing on these MB combos, and this isn't mentioned even in MB site.. I hope I'll get the money together before someone grabs it.. Would you mind posting it to Lithuania? If so, how much would it cost? (Vilnius city, Lithuania EU, index: LT-09200) And, does it have tilt-up feature? (cuz I can't find it on the site!!) easy Faith

Got two - one expensive and one cheapo - and they are cracking basses for their price.. shame that I got to let them go, but I went custom ways now.. you can check both my Ibbies here, they're for sale: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=94843

4 songs per week? Well, that's some work, innit.. what are those songs? just curious..
-
I used 'Jaco' technique - putting thumb on pickup or E string (if going on higher strings) and muting strings with ring and pinky, but my playing wasn't clean enough, and wasn't comfortable in some cases, so I 'took' some advice from Mr. Todd Johnson (youtube him on floating thumb technique) and switched to floating thumb, and I never looked back since. It took me a few months (and some pain in the arm!) to get it comfortable but it's ok now. Whatever you choose, dont hope to learn it in day or two - everything takes more time than that, a lot more. easy faith

Can't help with that, sorry, but, what about transcribing it? easy Faith

Flite cabs are nice - is there a dealer in Europe?, and, Barefaced - way too expensive for me..
-
Hey folks, For some time I've been looking into varies lightweight amps, and here's the problem.. I want a really lightweight combo (head and cab separately), and, while situation with heads is more than ok, I struggle to find really light 1x10 cabs - by light I mean no more than 10kgs.. Ibanez Promethean combo is just brilliant in this case (its 1x10 cab weighs about 9,5kg), head's also light (2,9kg??), but are there any others cabinets that are light? of course, 1x12 would be nicer, but I do really doubt that it exists, less than 10kg thing.. so 1x10 is ok. any ideas? easy faith

Gig bags with room for a small amp head...
Faithless replied to fretmeister's topic in Accessories and Misc
You could do much worse than choosing an iGig case. Yes, they're expensive (150 pounds from Bass Direct), BUT your bass will get serious protection and there's loads of space in pockets - F1 head will go in one without any problem. http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_sp.../IGIG_Bags.html I got one yesterday, and, fitting a lil' amp head (I'm not sure, which yet - maybe Genz Benz, maybe Ibanez Proemethean, but it doesn't matter in terms of fitting in) was a demand for gigbag, when choosing it. And I think I made the right decision to get iGig. cheers Faith -
I've got my iGig this morning and it's an absolute cracker!! yep, I'm planning to carry a lil amphead in it, and other stuff, so those pockets are indeed cool. And, for those of you guys, who have these cases (iGig, Mono, Protego) my question is - do you anymore use (or keep) hard-cases? Let's say if you go to gig and you have to put your bass in car booth along with other gear - does these soft cases like iGig/Mono offer enough protection for the instrument, sitting along with other gear like amps, guitars, drums?
-
Ah, feel relieved now - tracker says that gigbag is in vechile for delivery, at last..
-
Hmm, case was collected from Mark on Friday, and today I didn't get it.. What worries me is this (latest tracking updates): 10-10-2010 00:59 Departed FedEx location PARIS 09-10-2010 23:15 In transit PARIS 09-10-2010 21:58 Departed FedEx location PARIS 09-10-2010 20:00 Arrived at FedEx location PARIS tommorow about 50% of France flights won't be happening, so that should affect my gigbag arrival, right?..

I can quote Mr Janek Gwizdala saying, that music is beyond technique, and you don't want technique to get in your way when you want to come out with a musical idea. So, yeah, technique is one of main elements, and is very important, I think.

What are you transcribing at the moment?
Faithless replied to Faithless's topic in General Discussion
Finished transcribing H.Eaves' line on Erykah Badu's "On and On".. a very nice tune, you can check it out (it's not the same one I've been transcribing): And, about walking bassline transcription.. I messaged Mr. Hubbard about this issue, and here's what I've got, I think it's very useful advice: " - Try Chunking it down to 2 & 4 bar phrases. Complicated things are just simple things strung together, bo break it down. - Look for chracteristic ideas within the transcription itself. Ask yourself, what are the passages that just jump out and grab you? - You can easily transpose this to all keys, but you may have to do some alterations with fingerings and octave displacements. You just have to play with it for awhile. However, if you are getting bogged down with key transposition, just take it through 3 or 4 keys. You'll probably get the jist of it by then. - Try to take the ideas you have learned and write more walking lines over different harmonic structures. You don't want to just use those ideas on something identical harmonically; you need to make it part of your vocabulary so you can use it anywhere, anytime, with anyone and over anything." Thanks, Joe! Elixir sells individual B and C strings, although they're not the cheapest. There are some manufacturers in UK that offer custom strings. Newtone maybe?

How about putting a lil' amp head into Protego's 'pocket'? Does it offer enough space for varies thingies? and how about it's shape, is it comfortable enough, when put on the back? I'm still somehow tempted for iGig.. easy Faith
-
If you're after a defretted (and fret-markered) 5string tuned E-C, that's what I got for ya http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=94843 cheap as chips, good for trying fretless out - it's not for everyone tastes.. easy Faith

hmm, I sorted it with Mark, cases should be in next week, I just have to sell my EUB and get the money together Wattabout sending them from US, while they can't ship it using USPS to Lithuania, they could have used other dealer (which is as expensive as case is), but he didn't mentioned import taxes somehow.. What are you transcribing at the moment?
Faithless replied to Faithless's topic in General Discussion
Transcribed 9 choruses of Ray Brown's bassline on "C Jam Blues", from "Night Train" with O. Peterson. The man has some licks Also finished transcribing bassline on Common's - Real People (Live on Lettermann) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oq8hfvl0AjY Started working on Chet Baker's Autumn Leaves. Finished the head, will now be moving on Chet's and P Desmonds solos, and, altogether, working on Ron Carter's bassline on this very take.. Also doing some electric stuff, it's Hubert Eaves' line on Erykah Badu's - On And On (Live 1997) Now I'm asking for some wisdom on working on transcribed walking basslines - well, it's not a solo, and it's difficult to move one around all keys, the best bet for me is to move it to nearest keys from the original.. But somehow, I feel, that this is not enough. How do you internalize transcribed walking line? Mr. Hubbard, do you have any thoughts on this?
