1. At band practice last night I went into the rehearsal room and there in the corner was an old Ampeg 1x18" stacked on an old Ampeg 2x15". Blimey, I though, I'm gonna give them a blast!! Plugged in my amp, plugged in my bass... Totally underwhelmed by the low frequencies. Unplugged everything and set up my 4x8" and 1x15" cabs. Much better. There's nothing like a practical to prove the theory.

The OWL

Just had an email from Guitar Guitar mentioning The OWL pedal. "The OWL is an open source, programmable effects pedal made for guitarists, musicians, hackers and programmers alike. Users can program their own effects, or download ready-made patches from our growing online patch library." http://hoxtonowl.com/ £250 for the pedal... Anyone tempted by it?

BOSS ODB-3

Despite feeling like crap, I've agreed to a band practice this evening. Mainly so I can mess about with my ODB-3. Since I last used it I've changed the EQ'ing on my amp quite a lot. Maybe tomorrow I can be a naysayer...
4. Why not try an Ashdown eq pedal. Same frequency centres, plus a 30Hz. Damned sight more manageable than lugging a whole head around.

BOSS ODB-3

Andrew Weiss using an ODB-3 and a filter, of some sort, on Rollins Band stuff is one of my favourite bass tones. I need to add my ODB-3 back into my set up...

BOSS ODB-3

The only issue I have is that it's more of a distortion than overdrive. I've added a couple of mods to mine; mids mod and a lower gain mod. Both switchable, so you can still get the original sound.
7. nice bass, really clean looking. But it looks a bit empty without a Model One in the neck position.
8. This album has one of my favourite bass tones ever recorded: Jump to about 15:00 for a fine bit to sample. Obviously youTube does it's best to kill the mix.
9.
The prosecution rests your honor :-)
What? Man Or Astro Man? are the coolest band ever! I think you're torpedoing your own case.
10.
If I'm perfectly honest, I thing even the greatest player in the world would look a nob playing that :-p
This is the coolest way to play one:
11. I recently got a new MBP, Scarlett 2i2 and Logic Pro X. Very impressed with the interface, simple and sounds great. I've moved from using Reason to Logic, so I'm still on the learning curve...
12. My (it's actually my wife's, but she hasn't played it in nearly 20 years) '83 Squier JV P: The original bridge is in a box somewhere. The saddles had all slipped and the string alignment was shocking.
13. nice!! I'd love a Black & Gold one. I'd even leave it alone and not butcher it, like I did to my pearl white SB Elite.
14. Apart from a couple of photos of my second bass, taken in 1989, most of the photos I've taken of my gear has been in the last 5 years or so. I have no photos of stuff in the intervening 20 years.
15. I used them a lot, both on and off line, when they had stores. Always great customer service. When my 2nd Ampeg PF-500 died after over 6 months, they gave me a full refund and were really apologetic. Sounds like they've gone downhill a lot under their new management.
16.
Just imagine how expensive it would be if it was sporting an apple logo
They did it in 2006 and it was $349.
17.
He does seem like he could be jerk-ish for some reason, but I for one am enjoying the whole This Means War albumen.
Finally got around to listening to this. Bloody good stuff.
18. I've never bothered paying this any attention the other times it's been posted. But the bridge set up is amazing!!
19. Supersonic Festival is meant to be back this year and that's all that matters... to me.
20.
But if it didn`t have the West Ham logo, what would be the point?
The point would be a good looking bass...
21. I was 14 when I first saw them live. Granted, that was only a mere 28 years ago... Oh to be an older fart!
22.
The very first album I bought was Live After Death. I bought it in 1986 I think. So for me, 'Arry's bass must be blue sparkle!
I'm currently lazing on the sofa, Live After Death DVD is on and my blue sparkle SH P is watching with me.
23. It definitely would look better with a tinted fretboard and no West Ham logo. I wonder if there's any difference between the Seymour Duncan SPB-1 and the Steve Harris pickup...

Ampeg SCR-DI
OK, so it's definitely a grit maker! You could suggest that the pedal is, give or take, the new BA115 preamp in a box. Sounds pretty damn good to me though, and the simple functionality really appeals. Colour me interested!
all comes down to price...
