1.
Friend of mine had a massive bag of ex-steve harris flatwounds somewhere. Sadly i didn't get on with them, as they would have lasted me for the rest of my playing career I reckon.
I get on with them!
2.
Nice example but IMO a bit overpriced, £150-£175's probably fair enough for one o' them. J.
Yeah, I did wonder. My first ever bass was a black Deluxe CSB that cost me £75 in 1988
3. Here's a couple. A Billy Sheehan and a Jeff Ament influenced pair
4. Went for a wander around town yesterday to see if there were any bargains in the charity shops. Spotted a nice looking Aria Pro II Cardinal series bass in Cash Generators: http://www.cashgenerator.co.uk/bass/aria-pro-ii-bass-cm1133 No idea if it's overpriced, but it was in very good nick for it's age.
5. I did until recently. But now I tend to just go for my Steve Harris Precision.
6. I grew up with my parents playing Black Sabbath, Led Zepplin, Leonard Cohen, Joni Mitchell, Pink Floyd, Bruce Springsteen... My sister listened to a lot of punk and goth stuff when I was in my early teens. Pivotal moments in my musical upbringing: 1976: My dad sitting 3 1/2 year old me down and playing Wish You Were Here at me. Mainly for Welcome To The Machine Once that album finished he put on Black Sabbath - Black Sabbath. Early 1978 - Kate Bush on Top of the Pops. Christmas 1978 - my uncle played Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds to me. Early 80s - sister played Holiday In Cambodia to me, heard Iron Maiden for the first time Mid 80s - heard Minor Threat and Metallica for the first time
7. Some Goblin. Namely the Zombi and Susperia soundtracks
8. Dead Kennedys
9. I'd love one. Never going to be able to afford one, so I've almost saved enough to get a Tronographic Rusty Box..
10.
Personally when I see a bass with gold hardware it makes me feel a little bit ill
to be honest, it has the same affect on me most of the time. But there are basses out there that look lovely with gold hardware. SB Elite Black & Gold A gloss black Wal (which is probably a crime in itself to like)
11. 10 mins work, a bit of solder and about £8 in parts and you could have 2 working pedals
12. I actually replaced the chrome hardware, on my Warwick, with gold. I think it looks ok against the bubinga body, what other people think is of little importance. My SB Elite came with gold hardware. Again, it looks pretty good.

14.
I'm sure that someone's going to say Flea...........It's only a matter of time.
Nah, the thread is for UNDERrated players
15.
the Adam and Eve pub near central Brum on the 15th March....
The one in Digbeth?
16.
Jason may have "pushed" his ideas in metallica, but they were almost entirely "pushed" into the nearest bin. It's a large part of why he left, he felt he had little to no creative input his entire tenure with the band.
That and he was forbidden to pursue his side projects, even during Metallica's down time when the others were off doing what they like doing.
17.
It has to be my bass hero Billy Gould
Definitely! Add to him: Mike Watt Karl Alvarez Rob Wright
18. My best find was a Kat Midi Kiti Pro (drum trigger to midi converter) for £15. They didn't have a clue what it was. Sold it on ebay a few years later for quite a lot more. My local CC don't tend to have bargains though. It currently has a nice looking Squire PJ. Black/tort/rosewood for £150. If it had been a maple board it'd be in my house by now They did sell and Orange Dark Terror head for £99 though
19. I wish I still had my Bootleg of Metallica playing the NEC in 1988 or 89. The sound quality was amazing for a bootleg and you could hear Jason's basslines. Plus I was at the gig. I saw a trailer for Through the Never and thought it looked just plain awful.
20. Some stoner rock from Los Natas the München Sessions
21.
Bump up the 1khz frequency and regardless of what drive you use it will be aggressive. B E aggressive
Now I'm going to have to listen to Faith No More!
22. I've nothing to add, but what a great thread!!
23. The used Ashdown JJ-500 I picked up from here has already lasted more than twice as long as both Ampeg PF-500s, I had, put together. It's never intermittently cut out, tripped out or shutdown... I'd buy Ashdown again, before I'd buy Ampeg.
