1. At it's widest points: (width x length x height in mm) 90 x 200 x 70 - 90 (toe down - heel down) Cable plugs in at toe end
  2. Not as interesting as Oli's photo but. Here's my, new to me, Ashdown JJ500, on top of 1/2 my cabs. Looking forward to annoying the drummer at Wednesday's practice! This amp is much louder than the PF-500 it's replaced.
  3.
Did they rip off that Behringer pedal?
That's got to be a first!
  4. Bought the Ashdown JJ500 from Gareth. Paid him on Tuesday it arrived, via courier, this morning. It's in great condition. Fantastic communication wise. All round great guy to deal with. Cheers
  5. If it's an out of town band and they ask far enough in advance i.e. not 20 mins before they go on, I'll take my old bulletproof Peavey head and Laney cab for them to use and take by better rig for me. If it's a local band they can sod off and bring their own gear.
  6.
I know the feeling, I picked up a EUB on Tuesday and was bouncing around the house like a kid on Christmas eve. My better half thought I was losing my mind. Believe me, two days later and I am still giddy with excitement every time I look at it, its a great feeling!
Glad you're enjoying it. It's kind of odd seeing the empty space where it was kept.
  7.
Saw them in Manchester last week and the head failed just before they were due on stage. After 15-20 mins of muckin' about, they swapped in a replacement head and thankfully the show went on
Google has a link, to a facebook page that I can't see in work, that says The Amp Clinic in Manchester repaired a SVT Classic

    New Zoom B3

For band reheasals I only take the B3 now. For gigs I take the B3 and a small pedal board running in a separate loop, For those moments you feel the need for an extra fuzz running.
  9.
I suspect this is a lost leader to make us all angry and then they will say "ok we won't do it then" and we will all feel better whilst they sneak something else in whilst we are talking about this.
Yep. I'm wondering what's coming up, wondering if the tory media will start on this just as the Brooks court case kicks off. The Tanker driver's "strike" did well to distract everyone from the NHS bill and the Cash For Cameron scandal.
  10.
We're talking about a bunch of hopeless no brainers who couldn't implement a joined up NHS IT system
That would be Fujitsu

    New Zoom B3

I found the 8-pole to be quite close to a small stone with the color switch down (I think), it's a little smoother sounding but in a full band situation no one will be able to tell.

    New Zoom B3

I use the Dual Comp mainly, as I used to use an Ashdown Dual Band Comp. I haven't actually A/B'd them, maybe I shall have a go over the weekend,
  13. I didn't see this... I didn't see this!!!
  14. Nope, when I get the first replacement the first time I got to use it was at a gig. I've never been so nervous, I just stood next to the cabs listening any slight drop on volume (from my poor playing) made me sh*t myself. I really did like the sound of the amp. Last week I was considering getting a PF115HE in the very near future. I've now bought Walbassist's Ashdown JJ500. I can't wait for it to arrive!
  15.
I don't buy the 'cab tolerance' thing - in my opinion if it was designed properly it wouldn't be an issue. I used mine for three gigs with the same cab, was fine until gig three at which point the cutting out began. As far as I can tell, they either suffer from pretty poor quality control or are built wrong. Either way, I would never recommend one.
Yes, if it was designed with a bit more tolerance cab wise then they'd be great. I have noticed on some websites that they say the PFs were designed to work with the PF cabs, which makes sense. So I guess Ampeg designed them specifically for those cabs. Anyhoo, my second PF-500 failed on me last week. Using the same 4x8" + 1x15" it's worked with flawlessly for 8 months, quiet little click, fault light came on and that was that. I called Digital Village who arranged a courier to pick it up yesterday. Today I got a full refund. No questions, no hassle. Perhaps they've had a few back.
  16. Just sold my NS Design NXT to Nathan. Prompt payment, no hassles and a pleasure to meet. What a great guy to deal with!
  17.
I use a literal pinch motion, with my thumb touching the string for the harmonic and my index finer plucking behind it. I always seem to get a bit more out of them by bending. They can be very useful, eg: in a 3 piece covers band, playing the 2nd (octave higher) guitar part in the intro of "Are you gonna go my way". I can't imagine why any bass player wouldn't use them in this context, but I rarely see them played.
I don't use them any more put that's how I did it. But using the nail on my index finger to pluck the string. I learnt it from a Billy Sheehan video back in the 80s.
  18.

I was just coming to ask what cab was being used and to point out that the PF-500 seems to have very little tolerance cab impedance wise...
  19. Cheers for this, downloading now. I love Sabotage, but I prefer Gratitude for distorted bass lines.

  21.
No, I want to plug a bass and then either a keyboard or mp3 player or drum machine. Thanks everyone, it helps a lot.
Ah, then the £35 one will suffice.
  22. I've had a Behringer 12 channel mixer for about 5 years without a hitch. They do stuff that's suitable from about £35 1 mono and 2 stereo input: http://www.gak.co.uk...-xenyx-502/1079 If you wanted to plug Keyboard, MP3 player and drum machine in stereo and a bass (so 3 stereo and 1 mono) you're looking at £72: http://www.gak.co.uk...bus-mixer/36011 EDIT: Took me along time to type that...

  24. I'm a fairly aggressive player, using picks and fingers. I used to use Rotosound wounds and would get about 6 hours of live/band practice use out of them before they were too dull, for my liking. D'Addarios last around 10-12 hours, but I have a set of DR Neons on my Stingray and they've clocked up about 20 hours and are still sounding good. It's taken me 20 years you realise cheaper strings are false economy.
