2. This is my favourite Ministry song ever! Followed by I always though industrial rock tracks work best with a fairly clean bass sound. or a little bit of overdrive And some better Industrial music: A nice Fender Jazz 5 string
3. I like that!! Might get a lottery ticket this evening..
4.
A much better investment opportunity agreed, but rather difficult to get a tune out of a reel of copper
Not difficult at all:
5. For me it was because the noises Steve Harris, John Entwistle and Cliff Burton made were more awesome than the guitarists in the their bands..
6.
I say go for it. The statistical chances of you getting two dodgy ones are infinitesimal. Plus, you have to start trusting it or you may as well send it back. Or, sell it to me for a couple of hundred
You're right. (the trusting bit, not the selling it to you bit)
7.
As long as you use a crossover in front of the bright box of tweeter, the impedance shouldn't be a problem.
So it'd be fine to have these signal paths? Fig 1 amp with 2 speaker outs Fig 2 amp with 1 speaker out
8.
Annoy the neighbours, it`s for art!
I played it for about 2 hours, at a low volume though. Left the amp on for an hour then played for another hour with no problem. Now, do I trust it for the gig? I suppose I could see what happens during soundcheck, got a DI backup...
9. Replacement was delivered about 45 minutes ago. Now trying to think of ways to test it at a decent level without annoying the crap out of the neighbours...
10.
For me it has to be the bloke everyone looked at when Metallica were on stage.... the flares, the hair, the headbanging, the style, the skill, the bass... man had it all.
I agree, except the bass bit... there, much better...
11. How would adding an HF horn affect the impedance? Say you were to build a bright box and then daisy chain it with 2 8Ohm cabs.
12.
I've had the brainwave of combining my bass and six-string cabs into one monster bass rig using a crossover to blend some dirt into the guitar cab; there's NO WAY that this isn't an awesome idea. So, yes, I suspect I'll be very happy with my rig as long as it works.
I think I've mentioned before that KK Null (Zeni Geva) used to play a guitar through an octaver, then through a crossover. Low freqs went to a bass amp, higher ones went to a guitar amp. With effects pedals on both sides. It sounded immense!! I think he may still do it.
13. For about 10 years I used a Peavey MkIII and a Laney 4x10 and was happy. Then I found BassChat...
14.
If my gear had to be cheaper than my clothes, I'd be lucky to have an encore bass, never mind an amp, I'm sure lot of people would have the same problem.
You're not wrong. I'm currently wearing £40 of clothes! Free Soundgarden promo t-shirt £15 pair of jeans, £20 for shoes and £5 for socks and shorts! Not sure how far that would get me gear wise!! The way I think is why buy expensive stuff if you're not going to use it live. The most expensive bass I've got, that I bought new, is my Fender Steve Harris P. The rrp is now about £1,400 (granted, it's not up there with Wals), but it was my main gigging bass until my Stingray arrived. If I could afford a Wal I'd use it in any old sh*thole.
15. I've got a glow in the dark lead that I bought 16 years ago and it's not failed me yet...
16. Took the Stingray to band rehearsal last night. My god what a bass! Due to a failure of my new Ampeg pf-500 I got to try the bass through a couple of different amp configurations: Straight into the Ampeg Into the Ampeg via a DHA VT2 Straight into an Peavey MkIII standard Into the Peavey via the DHA VT2 and then into the Peavey's poweramp section via the VT2 all variations sounded lovely! Once I'd gotten used to the slightly narrower string spacing the bass was so easy and comfortable to play. It'll have it's first gig with me on Saturday, hopefully with a working Ampeg...
17. Sold my MXR Blowtorch and Sansamp PBDDI to Martin. Swift payment and great to deal with. Cheers
18. Sold my Mono strap to Gaf. He paid straight away. Excellent to deal with.
19. Bought a dual loop pedal from Mark recently. Great to deal with, great communication. As others have said, swift delivery and great packaging. Cheers Mark.
20. I searched but couldn't find a thread, apologies if I failed at finiding one. Recently bought a MM Stingray from him. He was kind enough to hold the bass for a couple of weeks for me to get paid. I did give him a deposit to show I wasn't wasting his time. His advert was detailed and accurate, no surprises, and communication was great. He helpfully travelled, by train, to meet me at a half way point between our locations. Top bloke! Cheers
21. I don't think I've left feedback before so I'll do a summary. I've been a buyer from Oldslapper twice and a seller once (he's like my own personal shop) He's always been the perfect gent, always offers tea and coffee. Communication is always fantastic and he always describes his stuff accurately. Recently sold the Markbass head back to him, due to the uncertainty of whether he'd be there when I dropped it off he paid in full in advance. A truly great, and trustworthy bloke. EDIT: and the people who live near him are also wonderful!
22. I'm embarrassed to say I always forget about leaving feedback. As I've made a few transactions of the last month I must make amends.
23. All mass produced electronics are going to have a failure rate (If you've ever read any Apple forums, you'd think they had a 90% failure rate). I'm not angry, just mildly irritated about having to organize a replacement. Like I said, it sounded bloody fantastic. Oh, the fan noise was a bit of a surprise, having had a Markbass head, but once the volume is up, of course, you can't hear it. EDIT: Return sorted. , should have a replacement on Friday. Hopefully this one will work as I have a gig on Saturday.
24. Playing along normally gain on about 10 o'clock and volume on about 10 o'clock too and the sound just dropped out. It came right back but then dropped out again. I switched to my old Peavey amp and played that for about 30 minutes then tried the Ampeg again. After about 6 minutes it started dropping out again. Very disappointed really. I'll get a replacement PF-500 but if that suffers the same problem I won't get another...
