2.
I was under the impression that the Ashdown stuff (amps at least) is designed by Clive Button the bloke who did quite a lot of the old Trace Stuff. If that's so, here's an idea. Revamp the old Trace Elliot MP11 preamp (sort of like the superfly with an 11 band graphic eq and midi footswitchable with channel memory) and pile in a proper digital power stage so say 500- 800W and valve gain. There. You have one of the most flexible amps you'll ever own. Loads of EQ options, stupidly lightweight and lots of shiny lights and buttons to appease people like me who like that sort of thing. I'd pay for that.
That's a great idea! I loved my MP11, shame i never got it back from a repair shop...
3. Haven't seen this thread before. The new amp looks interesting. Great of Ashdown to come on the forum and discuss it. Well done chaps. May have to check one out when I can.
4. I couldn't even give one of those away a while back. It ended up down the tip.
5. I sold my Sansamp Programable BDDI and ordered a, white only, DHA VT2 last week. It's going to be a long couple of weeks until it arrives...
6.
Loving their use of a bass guitar nut, that's definitely gonna match the fingerboard radius well.
I think my eyes are playing tricks, as the "radius" seems to be asymmetrical and have a sharp ridge running the length...
7.
Sorry, I already own one of these, but I was wondering what you used to enlarge the holes? I had no end of grief trying to get my straplocks onto it
A round wood file. It's the only thing that had any effect! That leather is bloody tough!!
8. One black sharkskin Mono Strap. sold Size L - (47" - 59" according to their website) I only used it for a couple of weeks and didn't get on with it. It's in great condition, the strap button holes have been enlarged to get Dunlop strap locks through. It has a useful little pocket for plectrums, if you're that way inclined. Nice and well padded. Paypal accepted. Cheers
9. I had a black Aria Pro II Cardinal Series Deluxe. Lovely bass, part-ex it for a white SB Elite I.
10.
FIXED.
Hurrah. What was the problem?
11. If it's good music it's good music. I don't care what it's played on.
12.
New board and complete overhaul from me:
I thought it looked neater at the Croft. Still sounds bloody fantastic though!!
13. Tech 21 Programmable BDDI. Sold In pretty much mint condition (some scuffing on right hand side). Boxed, with sticker and a printed version of the manual. We all know what these are: 3 switchable channels and DI. Incredibly useful, and damned good sounding. MXR Blowtorch. Sold Boxed, Printed off a copy of the maunal. It's a bit battered. No battery covers (they weren't there when I bought this), but I always used a power supply (18v by the way, not included) and a previous owner removed all the lettering, now hand written on the case and I got bored and coloured in the orange bits black. Paypal accepted. Selling because I fancy trying something different.
14.
You should check out the paradriver instead you have suprior mid control and it's argued the best of the Sansamps
I've heard that it's still a bit scoopy. Plus I need 2 channels really.
15. I've got a Sansamp Programmable DBBI that I'm getting increasingly fed up with. I'm beginning to dislike the mid scoop. I'm looking at alternatives at the moment, I've narrowed it down to: MXR M80 DHA VT2 but also looking into: Radial Bassbone EBS MicroBass II
16. Fantastic show last night! Loved Squeeze Me Macaroni and Urethra Franklin!! Kinda gutted I can't make Cardiff or Bath . Got myself a t-shirt and CD and blasted it out driving back to Wales. Also snagged a Squeeze Me Macaroni CD.
17. The Kong patch is one I set up from scratch. I really like the bass tone too. It's my Ibby BTB through the built in input on the iMac and a tweaked Line6 bass patch (I think, I was messing with the Scream unit and some of the Mastering Suite boxes at the time). I'm a huge NoMeansNo fan, so I like the comparison!
18. Can you not just bulk delete attachments that are over a certain age?
19. Just halved the amount of MB for my attachments.
20.
I think the chorus sounds outstanding but is a bit pricey. I was thinking whether to take the plunge but don't use chorus anywhere near enough to justify that kind of outlay. The red ripper sounds alright but I think I prefer Big John's Obama Wah which has a similar dirt & filter combination.
I use a chorus for around 75% of the time, but mixed low (30% blend). But I think it's too much money, a bit like the red ripper too...
21. I'm currently using Record to transcribe drums, so I can program my drum machines (as our human drummer quit). As I'd used the Kong module to do the drums I thought I'd quickly record bass and my hamfisted guitaring. The result: http://soundcloud.com/warm_leatherette/gearbox Bass and guitars in one take each
22. I read these threads and think how lucky I am. The guitarist in my band plays bass in another, he's not got and ego and he doesn't over do things. He also doesn't tell other band members how they should play.
