I bought an NXT on Tuesday, was used to the scale length by Wednesday afternoon. You can set the action on NS Design uprights, via 2 screws behind the rear plate. I left mine as it was set, medium/low action, but it still takes more effort to play than a fretted or fretless bass. It doesn't feel like a fretless bass as the action, playing position, scale length and string spacing are all completely different. I have no idea if it's like a real double bass as I've never played one.

I looked at that Black and red Esh on Tuesday. It looks better in real life.

I was wondering the same thing a month or so ago. Started off thinking about just using my warwick fretless, then thought it'd still sound too electric. Then looked at fretless acoustics, but the price got up to EUB range before I found a nice one. As I've wanted an upright I thought I may as well go for an NS Design NXT. Picked it up yesterday, already used to the different playing position and the different scale length, the string spacing it taking a bit longer though

Not practicing anything in particular, just getting used to my EUB...

Collect it today! It feels great to play, the different scale length doesn't seem to be a problem. Probably because it's a totally different playing position. Been playing through my sansamp BDDI and headphones as I'm at my parent's and ampless. Once the strings dull down a little it's going to sound great! Can't wait to get home on Sunday now!

Had a flying visit there today to pick up my EUB. Mark was great. I tried very hard not to look at the basses hanging up, I failed miserably though. My eyes kept getting drawn back to the Dingwalls! The parking area was a total thawing icy nightmare though. It was a pleasure meeting you again Mark. Have a great New Year!
