1. I had one and sold it to help fund the purchase of my Steve Harris Precision. I don't regret it at all.
2. I'll wipe down the neck after practice or a gig and clean the fingerprints off the chrome pickguard, when I can be bothered...
3. I've been meaning to get on the list for the book, your other thread reminded me. Cheers
4. I now have 2! First my old 70s Peavey and Laney 4x10", which will now become the amp other bands use in the inevitable sharing situations. and now I have the Markbass head and 4x8" cab, which will be a non sharing set up.
5. Here's a quick iPhone snap (proper photos at a later date when I next have band practice) of my new compact rig: Markbass head and a 4x8" Cheers to oldslapper!
6. Sounds like the synth to me. Around 2:20 it shows the keyboard player, looks like he's playing the bass line.
7.
Have you had a "play" yet?? These don't come up that often....sell the Ibby!
As soon as I got home! I set it up and plugged the Ibby in. It handles the low B better than my 4x10. It'll be t'other side of Christmas before I start looking for a 1x15 though, that's if I'm not drawn in to getting a Dingwall.
8.
bartelby might be after one of these Si. John
If I had any money left after this morning I'd have it like a shot!!
9. That actually looks way better than I thought it was going to!! Top job! As for the Hipshot part, they used* to be really good. They sent me a replacement D-Tuner lever for free as it has worn away, over the 15 years I'd had it. * that was a couple of years back, so they might have changed. EDIT: Just read the Hipshot email post. So they are still good!
10. I'm in a band with just one guitarist. Some times I'd like a second one to pop in for a few bars then bugger off again.
11. After seeing them live last night, I've just downloaded and now listening to: ANTA - The Tree That Bears The Equine Fruit
12. I was there last night. If I'd seen this thread before hand I would have said hello (I was wondering if you were a basschat member, but I didn't recognise your pedalboard ) I have to say I was super impressed! You have an interesting playing style, any reason behind it? I'm filmed your last track and it's currently uploading to youtube. I'll link to it later. Thanks to you and the rest of the band.

14. My wish list currently only has two basses on it: A black 4 string Dingwall Afterburner with maple fretboard A green Shuker Precision with maple fretboard
15.
That's brilliant! Not sure that two bass players adds much to the song, as opposed to the performance.
Man Or Astroman were amazing to watch live, even before they brought out the Tesla coil!
16. Has no one mentioned this yet? and Ned's Atomic Dustbin were a great band!
17. One gig I once did my band and the other support agrees that we'd supply drums and they'd supply the amps. None of my band had cars at the time so we carried the drum kit through town. We turned up to find the other support had brought nothing at all, despite all of them driving to the venue. They wouldn't go and get stuff, nor give us a lift to collect our amps. So we ran, literally, around to get our amps. We opened and once we finished, as the arses were getting the instruments together, we took all the equipment off the stage. The promoter then had to pay us their fee for use of the stuff. I will shortly have a nice new, to me, compact rig which will allow me to take my knackered old set up as back up in case of having to share stuff. Or I'll just DI from my BDDI.
18. That's really nice looking! Dingwalls are getting more and more tempting...
19.
in other words the silk is a different colour and they're heavier guage. I think I'll try a set next time my strings need changing which will probably be the new year now. Cheers for the info
It's not even a difference in gauge, as they do the Jazz 77s in 50-110. The next set of strings I buy will be the normal Jazz 77s, in about a month's time.
20. Here's the reply
Hi, There are some subtle changes in the build spec.to Steve`s liking. Hope this helps, Regards, John
So, there you go. They're subtly different...
21. As others have said, that's pretty amazing looking!
22. Buy a 35" scale length 4 string, like one of the Ibanez BTBs Though a thumb rest type thing would probably be cheaper
23. I have used that tuning with Billy Sheehan sig strings, fairly well. The 110 E keeps decent tension down to D, and the 43 G tunes up well. I know Alexander Hacke (of Einstürzende Neubauten) uses DADA on his Thunderbird. He looks like he uses a medium gauge set of Rotosounds...
