2.
I get on best with a Precision neck - actually find the '51P to be dead right for me - so I searched for what was available with a P neck for sure & just maybe a Jazz body for a change. I found the Fender Frank Bello signature model & even though I'd never heard of the man or his bands I rather fancied one, so when one came up at a good price I grabbed it . I think it's a great bass & a bit different to most - especially after I've customised it further - with a SD 1/4Lb Jazz to equal the SD P already fitted, a rosewood thumrest & a Hipshot extender. Now it's my *do everything bass*. Just straight output - no tone controls & no batteries required. High octane - great to drive! Now I've got serious GAS for a Steve Harris signature P, - & so it goes on
I'm a big Anthrax and Frank Bello fan but I'm not really a P/J fan. The Steve Harris bass is fantastic, get one!
 3.
It's on! It's wickid! Thanks for your help, guys.
Excellent. They're fantastic! Hipshot are pretty good customer service-wise. After about 10 or 11 years the D-Tuner on my Aria had worn badly, the contact point on the leave had worn down by about 5mm. I emailed Hipshot and asked how much a new lever was. They just said to supply my address and they'd pop a new one in the post to me for nothing. It arrived within a few days too.
 4. When Steve Harris started using the blue sparkle P I wanted one, not just because he used it but because it looked so bloody cool. A month or so ago I got one and it's a fantastic bass to play. It's really comfortable, maybe touch on the heavy side after 3 hours or so, and sounds great!!
 5. I've been wanting to take some outdoor photos for a while. This morning I attacked the garden with a strimmer and hedge trimmers.... So I've just run out with my meagre collection: Dean Edge 4 Aria Pro II SB Elite Warwick Corvette Proline (de-fretted) Ibanez BTB405 Fender Precision Steve Harris 1983 Squier Precision
 6. I've got a Roland R-8 gathering dust. It's a bit old and dated but it's a fantastic bit of kit.
 7.
But threads like this have me considering getting a pod and going straight to the PA if I ever start playing properly again.
That's why I bought a Sansamp BDDI.
 8.
Steve Harris sprinkled with a little John Entwistle, [s]add a healthy portion of Geddy Lee.[/s] Stir in some Timmy C [s]and top it off with a spoonful of Duff McKagan et voila.[/s]
with a hint of Justin Chancellor and seasoned with JJ Burnel.
 9.
As it's what I've mostly been listening to today - free EP from Trent Reznor's new project anyone? http://www.howtodestroyangels.com/ Might not be everyone here's cup of tea, but if you like NIN then you might like it. I wasn't sure at first, but I've just listened to it through about 4 times in a row and now love it.
Having quickly skipped through the tracks, it sounds pretty good. I'll have a proper listen tomorrow...
 10.
Can you still buy "Rustins Plastic Coating"? that stuff is great for 2 pack clear coat loveliness, although some b4stard in the EU has probably tried to ban it...
Yep Still available
 11. It'll be interesting to see how it compares to the actual pedal. I'll have look later...
 12.
That is begging for a re-fin.
Black and white checks?
 13.
How old is that page? Considering they're describing layne staley in the present tense as if he is still alive, that means it must have been there for a while!
unless...
 14.
Unsurprisingly, Glen Danzig likes his groupies to dress as himself.
Yes, I noticed that too. I wonder if they have to be fat and balding now...
 15.
I appreciate these guys are not local to you, but they might be worth contacting. They're a TE 'Authorised Service Centre' for products not under warranty / made before 2005. They were very good when I had problems with my GP12 SMX. Electronic Music Services Rear of Prittlewell House 30 East Street Southend-on-Sea Essex SS2 6LH Tel: 01702 613172 e-mail: [email protected] website: www.electronicmusicservices.co.uk/traceelliot/
I wish I'd known about this place a couple of years ago. I took a TE MP11 (ex John Entwistle, apparently) into a local place to be sorted and the bugger went bankrupt and I never got it back!!
 16. Finally remembered to take a photo of my old Peavey. But I forgot my camera, so had to use my phone:
 17. Once I've got the basics of the song down I'll improvise. I find it pretty dull to play the same thing all the time... On the rare occasions I have to play a cover I'll play as close to the original as possible, if required.
 18. I've had 2 buying experiences with Bass Direct. The first one I went in to buy a strap and strap locks. Mark was busy doing paperwork and told me to give him a shout if I needed him. I found this great as I hate been watched all the time like in other stores. I spent about 15 minutes open mouthed in awe of the stock. Totally forgot I was after a strap and started looking at compressor pedals! Fortunately, for my bank account, there were straps right next to the EBS pedals. I had a nice chat with Mark and walked out with Dunlop strap locks and a Mono strap. The second was an online purchase of a PolyTune. After waiting a week for the delivery I gave Mark a call he was totally honest and said he had no idea why he hadn't sent it out, it must have just slipped his mind. I have no problem with mistakes when people are up front about it. The pedal arrived the next morning. I'll use Bass Direct as often as I can from now on. It's just unfortunate that 90% of the stock is way out of my price range...
 19. I no longer have a bass amp in the house. So if I want to practice it's either unplugged or running through my 12 channel mixer into a JVC mini hi-fi. My computer's audio goes through the desk too, so practicing new songs for the band is simple.
 20. I may not use local shops (well, shop as the others have closed) as they're pretty over priced. But I'll tend to use places that are actually shops as opposed to warehouses. My last few purchases were from GAK and Bass Direct (both in person and online). I will use Digital Village if I have too. I've looked on the Thomann site many times but always ended up using a UK source.
 21. I joined a band back in March. We've had about 6, one a week, 3 hour rehearsals. They were an established originals band so in that time they've taught me about 14 songs and we've written 2 new ones. We have our first gig, in this lineup, on Friday. We ran through the set 3 times last Friday and decided that was enough. But we do record every rehearsal and MP3s get sent around, so I listen to the latest stuff through the week.
 22. Black Pearl looks fantastic... Or chrome. All the best basses have chrome...
 23.
I'd only need one.... Akai SB-1 I cannot live without this.
I'm surprised by how little I miss mine. But selling it meant I could get the Steve Harris Precision, so it was a decent trade off.
 24.
Just 4 basses? Didn't think that was possible
hahaha Adam Yauch looks most bemused!
