  1. Love the bass line in Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. Paul Gray is fantastic:
  2. There’s more low end and things are a little more defined. Whether this is solely the cabs, or less air being moved means I can turn the amp up a touch more, or a combination of the two I’m not sure. But it’s enough of a difference to make me totally unsure of what cab(s) to get next. Although these cabs are small they’re not lightweight. The 4x8” is getting on for 30kgs. And I’d prefer a single cab solution.
  3. IIRC, they’re cabs that were made for the Ashdown ABM mini range (4x8” and 1x15”). But were left overs when they updated the design. So got loaded with Celestions. They had white piping on, but I changed that to yellow to match the Mark Bass head I was using at the time.
  4. After doing some hard thinking over that last few weeks I decided to do a bit of downsizing. I’ve donated the Ashdown 8x10” and a Laney 4x10” to a local music venue. They will be used as in house backline, once gigs happen again, and also in their new recording studio they’re setting up in their basement. So for now my rig is this (apologies in advance to those of a sensitive nature): it sounds bloody good. In fact I prefer it to the 8x10”. Next year I’ll be looking for something new, cab wise. Not decided on what yet...
  5. It certainly is. It's definitely on par with Takes a Nation of Millions... & Fear of a Black Planet
  6. Not sure who he is but that's a nice looking bass , sounds good too, and he's certainly enthusiastic about it.
  7. Similarly I do listen to this a fair bit at times:
  8. I have different levels. If I'm just doing admin style work I can have any music playing and even sing along to some stuff. If I'm doing some basic programming/data work I'll have instrumental music on. Usually film scores by the likes of Clint Mansell, Mark Korven, Ben Frost. If I'm deep in debugging/complex programs/methodological work I'll listen to a lot of Merzbow (Japanese noise. No melody, rhythm, lyrics etc. Just noise to obliterate external distractions)
  9. I’m determined to get a band back together once it’s safer out there. My CTM-300 is desperate to be turned up loud.
  10. In one word: Frisson https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frisson if I get a positive physical reaction then I like it.
  11. The Pop Will Eat Itself Cure For Sanity. 30 years old today!
  12. Yep. It’s still going strong.
