  1. It gets a lot of use on the TV too. A few years back, on the BBC, there was a trailer for something that used Closer by Nine Inch Nails. I fully expected them to edit to song before the chorus, but they didn't. For those that don't know it the chorus starts: "I want to f**k you like an animal I want to feel you from the inside."
  2. Drinking too much on a week night isn't big or clever...

I need to curl up under my desk as sleep for the rest of the day...

We have a store full of large sheets of spongy foam at work,  clock in,  head down, appear in time for lunch  ...

Used to do this all the time!  I found I didn't get so much sick as I did cranky/irritable the next day.  I guess I wasn't too much fun to work with!  Knocked it in the head last year and it was the best thing I ever did.

I was down at our other office with my manager. So we went out with colleagues. 8:15pm my manager said "one more for the road. back at the hotel by 9?". everyone agreed. We then got talking about favourite bands/albums/gig. Got back to the hotel just after midnight, after 3 more "one for the roads". My manager, she's a bad influence...

  3. I've been sorting my 7"s in to alphabetical order. So far this morning I've listened to: Cabaret Voltaire, Garbage, Beck, Descendents, Jesus and the Mary Train, Rowland S Howard, Grinderman, Mega City Four, Operation Ivy, Napalm Death, The Normal, PWEI, Rapeman, REM, Rollins Band ,Scum Pups, Senseless Things, Shellac and Slant 6.
  4. Moose was a great replacement. As was Nelson for Moose...
  5. Glue in some dowels, colour them in black. Job's a good 'un!
  6. might be best to never remove the scratch plate...
  7. Puns weren't the think that first sprang to mind. But, if it were me, I would have gone for "Holy Moly!!!" as thread title...
  8. That's what I was thinking... except there's about 10 holes in there...
  9. What's the shielding in the 'Ray like compared to the other basses? Dimmers throw out a lot of RF interference...
  10. He's going to miss an awesome band if he doesn't go...
  11. Last call if anyone needs anything from Mouser. If you need something small give me a shout.

I've got an order that's above the threshold for free shipping and I'm putting it in this evening.

I bought some great (and unusual) switches for pickup configuration from Mouser. Super fast delivery and high quality! I cant think of anything I need right now, but I wanted to say thank you for a kind BC offer!

  12. I'll have a bit of NMA. (I love the YouTube thumbnail for this 😁) Stuart Morrow is so underrated!
  13. Not sure those switch enclosures will do the job you need any better than just gluing some piezos to a couple of pieces of wood and tapping them with your feet. For cushioning, a bit from a neoprene mousemat is good. Also , be careful as the weak point of the piezos are the solder joints. It doesn't take much to either break the wire or rip the solder off the disc.

    Love that JPJ!!
  15. I'm putting in an order from Mouser in the next couple of days. It'll be a big enough order for free shipping. Does anyone need anything?
  16. I had a Ernie Earplugs Yam Hand that was basically that setup, but without the switches. Lend it to a mate in Denmark, who turned out to be a bit or an derrière and he never sent it back...
  17. I saw them support Anthrax in '88 and then on their own tour (with an unknown Stereo MCs as support) in '93 or '94. They were so much better in '88, Muzz was a much better fit...
  18. Fortunately he’s never used it against me. but he has used the fact that he had to sell his Cortina GT just before my sister was born, 2 years earlier, against her...
  19. What's annoying is my first bass could have been my dad's '62 P, that was resprayed "Salmon Pink" before being sent to the dealer, and his custom made 50w valve amp and homemade 2x18" cab. He paid about £150(predecimal) for the bass from George Clay's in Brum, then sold it 10 years later for £75(decimal) Why did he sell it? Because he hadn't used it for about a year and he needed the cash. Why did he need the cash? Because I was about to be born!
  20. These arrived today. The CDs to compliment the vinyl...
  21. For my 16th birthday I bought a 3 or 4 year old black Aria Pro II CSB-Deluxe and a Laney Linebacker 30. Lovely bass, horrible amp. I didn't realise the CSB was medium scale until the following year when I part ex'd it for and SB Elite and found frets weren't where they should be...
  22. The Warren Ellis series stuff is meant to be very good. Niche market, but good products.
  23. Back on topic: I had the car stereo on shuffle on the way to work this morning and after a couple of tracks it skips to The Switch by Senser. So I took it off shuffle and started it the album from the first track. I forget how good that album is. This was always my favourite track of theirs back in the 90s
