1. There's a thread here: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/277356-tech-21-bass-fly-rig/
2.
I have no idea why I've not seen these before! I'm ordering a couple come payday.
I use their ZenDrive as an always on low gain drive... added a clean blend to it too. It's a pretty nice pedal.
3.
Love the bass but not the finish...
I was thinking the finish was the best part...
4. I really want a Warren Ellis Sig Eastwood tenor... They used to be pretty affordable, but with increased exposure and exchange rates the cost has slowly crept up.
5.
Turner but I'd already agreed to buy it before I was told and it was a good price anyway. I wouldn't see it as adding any monetary value at all but it's still a nice, interesting thing to know.
I had a Trace Elliot MP11 that was part of John Entwistle's rig. I got it from a place that used to sell off tour rigs, PAs and defunct studio gear. I don't have it any more, it needed repairing and the repair place went bankrupt and my MP11 went with it.
6.
Did the chappy building one ever finish it? it was a while back now..
He probably never made it out alive from the first full bore test...
7. Nope. EDIT: Although, had I had the money at the time I would have bought Richard March's (Pop Will Eat Itself) bass a few years back
8. My current go to set up. Aria SB Elite I (£60, back in the late 80s. But just cost me a few hundred in new parts) ---> Ashdown JJ-500 (£400, the expensive bit of the rig) ----> Ashdown Mag 810 (free) I could use my £50 Peavey Standard MkIII head though...
9. At least they've gone to the trouble of doing the hardware too.
10. I have a 4 string Fender Hi Mass bridge and quite like them. My HB Deko 5 string needs a new bridge. I finally discovered why my bass was a Deko... For £30 the Fender Hi Mass V seems a no brainer. But the 4 string has 5 screw holes and the 5 string one has 4. The current HB bridge has 6, so in theory the 4 of the Fender should line up with the middle 4 on the HB. Based on photos I think the screw spacing is around 15-16mm...
11. As I've never had massive goals in gigging there are only 2 venues in the country that I'd loved to play. JBs (as my dad and his mate were closely involved in the early years. My dad designed the original membership card and many of the gig posters, plus did the hippy moving colour lighting for gigs) and TJs in Newport. I got to play several gig in TJs before it closed. So I'm kind of happy.
12.
Deliverance by Opeth. Huge fan of Martin Mendez's bass playing - dude is a genius.
I'm looking forward to Sorceress. From what I've heard of it, it's leaning even more to the prog side of things..
13.
8 x 12 madness
Why not go for 8 x 15"s?
14. Does any one out there have one of these bridges on their bass? If so, could some kind soul measure the spacing between the mounting screws please?
15. Currently playing: Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds - Skeleton Tree
16. Over the last 10 years I've ordered, too, many LPs from outside of the EU. Only 2 parcels have ever incurred import duty, even though all of them have been above the threshold. It's kind of annoying to have to pay VAT and charges that are more than the record cost. But on balance spread across the number of records I've imported it's negligible. The guy's attitude was very much off, but he was probably having a worse day than the OP. I find it best to have a little rant and then get on with my life.
17. Pretty sure the nut on my blue sparkly one is closer to 44mm then 41mm, so I guess most people assume the newer one will be the same
18. I was going to see The Mission, but it coincides with Yob! and Black Cobra. Having seen The Mission several times in the past, I'm not to bothered by not seeing them this time. Next up for me are: Jesu/Sun Kil Moon (16th Sept) Acid Mothers Temple (27th Sept) Gaye Bykers on Acid (30th Sept)
19.
Same thing with Paul Gray on bass with the Hotrods and the Damned, unmistakable Rik for me. That soft clank
You gotta love PG. 2 reasons I'd love a Ric: Paul Gray and Cliff Burton...
20. A Boss LS-2 will do the first 2 options. You could probably get SFX to make a custom pedal for you...
21. Steve Harris is, also, the main reason I started playing bass.. And this is my go to bass:
22. I got some of these for my Ashdown 8x10: https://www.bluearan.co.uk/index.php?id=TUFF372141
23. 1988... hmmm, one of the following: Anthrax Throbbing Gristle Minor Threat Iron Maiden
24. I had an Ibanez BTB 405 for a while. 19mm string spacing 35" scale 18v electronics the thing was a beast but really comfortable to play. I picked one up on here for £200
