1. An old band I was in once had a drummer who would appear on stage, 1-2 minutes after the rest of us, to his own intro tape. He'd also turn up for rehearsals 1-2 days late or book rehearsals with 2 hours notice and not actually show up. The annoying thing was he was a great drummer and a really nice bloke...
2. I've been wanting to build a valve caster for a couple of years, just never got around to it. Maybe after the summer and the nights start drawing in again...
3.
That book looks good, but it isn't cheap, and I really don't want to spend much. If it's going to cost a lot I simply won't be able to do it.
I have a copy if you want to borrow it for a short while...
4. have you got this book? https://www.amazon.co.uk/Designing-Valve-Preamps-Guitar-Second/dp/0956154522
5. I've got one on a bitsa bass. They're pretty good. Nice and solid, slightly chunkier looking than the BadAss II.
6. Towards the end of the year I'm seeing Yob and Black Cobra. Should be pretty loud and heavy.
7.
I'd been starting the familiar blues scale run down on the 4th fret of G as it made sense to my logical mind to not move my hand and play the A open. I should have thought less and listened more!
JJ plays from the 9th fret on the D
8.
Good opportunity to point out once again that my £60 pawn shop MIJ Jazz copy is the nicest bass I've ever played: If I was ever in the position to spend silly money on a custom bass, most of it would be a replica of this thing! J.
Why do the pawn shops around here never have anything like that?!?!
9. As much as I don't like relic'd stuff, nor much of a Flea fan, I do like this bass...
10.
Not liking the headstock and rear of neck treatment, looks like a blue meanie has been playing it!
I think that's more to do with the White balance of the photos being way off.
11.
PJ Harvey was quite good; her usual kooky eclectic self. Good backing band too.
I'm just watching it now. I see Mick Harvey is still in her band. He's fantastic...
12. Well the restoration of my SB Elite is 1/2 way through. All the hacked in cavities have been filled, new machine heads, Armstrong pickup, switch, knobs, strap buttons and output socket. A lovely new rosewood trussed cover, a la Cliff Burton. The luthier did a nice neat job of all the hacking I did many years back. There now comes a long pause in the process while I save money for a total refinish. I'm going to have it refinished in black. And I need to find somewhere to replate the bridge.
13.
Why?
Victim blaming is a popular pastime in the US.
14. Mine arrived and I'm amazed it works so well on bass and guitar (electric and acoustic)
15. I suffer from ME/CFS. When I'm having a rough day, where I have enough energy to even think about playing bass, my playing is utter crap. Not far off a decent beginners ability. When I'm having a good day I'm a completely different player and best of all it doesn't cause agony the following day! But I understand what's going on, so don't instantly think I need a new bass... Well, no more than usual anyway.
16. The Zoom B3 has a Sequenced Filter. "the sequence filter has the flavor of a Z.Vex Seek-Wah. " Again you're stuck with preset rhythms
17. Now, that's impressive!! Top work... as usual.
18.
The sounds, the tweakability and the programming method were not for me on the SR16. I expect for quick jamming it would be fine, it has certainly stuck around through the years! I've had a Roland R5 and used an R8 both of which were really great and used the step sequencer display which I much preferred, but I expect something by Boss would be the way to go these days rather than by an old digital machine. One of the Boss ones let's you put chord progressions in to jam with, I can't remember which one.
When I was in a band that used a drum machine I used to midi my SR16 and R8 together. Using the R8 as the sequencer (and sound module) and the SR16 as a sound module only. It worked pretty well, but needed additional ROM cards for the R8.
19. I reckon you could squeeze one of these in there:
20. Ah, sorry. I misread your question/observation. It's early and I haven't had coffee yet...
21. Wouldn't pushing the Tune/Mute button mute the signal to the DI as well as the speaker outs?
22. OMG! That there is my dream bass!!
23. But Peavey amps need to weigh as much as a small planet...
