yeah, i have to say i am a peavey fan, i play a t40 and used to have a mkiv which was awesome!!! i never realised the t-max was a hybrid, that may well be worth a wee look out for. as for the acoustic, yeah i know that jesse keeler from death from above used one, in fact i think it may have been the 370, and his sound rules. are they not pretty hard to get hold of over here tho? i managed to play through a bassman 100 last night at full volume, not too bad but i did have problems getting it up to high volumes and not feeding back.
-
thanks, yeah that kinda goes along with what i've been thinking - getting a cheaper SS (i've about £500 to spare) and whacking an english muffn in front of it. or possibly getting a DHA badboy. oh yes....

wasn't getting any feedback to this post, and to be fair in retrospect possibly not the right forum for it so here it is reproduced! any info would be much appreciated! so these 2 are both on ebay: 1 2 i'm on the hunt for a decent new amp and played through an old valve bassman a coupla weeks ago and liked the sound. however, my band plays pretty loud distorted stuff and i'm wondering whether either of these will cope with a fuzz or overdrive being run thro them (ie will they just feedback like hell constantly?) and also what kinda volume am i likely to get out of them? i'd really need it to be pretty damn loud! i suspect that possibly they might not be right, but any thoughts?

i love that 2 people have a whammy as an essential cant-do-without-it pedal. much awesomeness!
-
i've always thought that if someone came up with relic'd strings (played in i mean of course) i'd probably buy them
-
well, i've already got my evil psu for my ehx taking up room on my board, can't hurt now to have another fussy pedal! it's enough to turn me back to batteries
I think it would work no problem- I have a VT Bass and it has more than enough output level to drive a power amp. I've actually been thinking about running a set-up like this today as it happens!
iiiiinteresting - this may be a solution! of course it'll be interesting watching the other bassist's faces if i agree to supply the backline and whip that setup out! of course next question is... any recommendations for power amps? i know my 'normal' amps pretty well but what should i be looking for with power amps?
-
i've had a good search thro and can't seem to find any hard info on this. basically my trust peavey mkvi has up and died on me (hmmm, maybe not so trusty), and having just splurged on importing a T-40 from the US i find myself at a bit of an impasse, ie, i'm totally skint, have loads of gigs coming up over the next few months, no bass amp and none i can borrow from anyone. to cut to the chase; would it be feasible to buy a cheap power amp, run it with a VT bass i can borrow on long-term loan, and get a decent amp sound? or should i just swallow my pride, ask to borrow everyone's amps, and hold off 6 months till i can afford something half decent?
The Line 6 pedals really need isolated power or they do get noisy. Are you running it on a daisy chain?
yep i am as it happens, my up-till-now trusty 1spot. advice seems to focus on at least getting an independent power supply so i'll give it a bash - there's always something else to spend my pennies on!

i'm messing about with adding delay into my playing, i really like that kinda shimmery mary chain / glasvegas effect. so i've got an echo park, and running it thro my audio interface and then thro guitar rig it sounds great. problem is, when i brought it to rehearsal and tried to use it, it was awful, just a really bad backgound hiss whenever it's on. now i have a fairly distorted bass sound so i was expecting a bit of this but the level of hiss makes it almost unuseable. i'm using a visual sound jeckyll & hyde od and love it, tried putting the line6 before and after it in the chain but no real change. any ideas? do u think this will happen with all delays? thanks in advance!
-
hmmm jekyll & hyde OD, akai headrush, holy grail plus i guess that's all i really need, other things are just for colour.
-
bought a headrush from him, good price for basically a brand new fully boxed pedal and recieved day after i paid! delighted! chris
