Thank you I actually used to play this many years ago with a Blues/Folk trio but I just used to play along to it following the chords with no idea what I was playing but it always went down well.

I was asking because of my lack of experience just recently returning to the instrument well last couple of years but thank you, will see if a friend will jam a basic 12 bar and try it but struggling with sounding convincing on my own

Thanks that’s all I’m interested in gaining some knowledge

Thanks for the advice and information

Thanks tried the 2 5 1 while just practicing on my own but still trying to work out a decent 1 6 2 5 just doesn’t work for me at the moment, my lack of skills I think.

Thank you for your information unfortunately my knowledge is limited…. I’m a late re-starter I dabbled with Bass and Guitar years ago but gave up for years and have started learning again at the grand old age of 64, always liked the Blues and was just dabbling, I would like eventually to learn some walking bass lines but over the Blues I think Jazz is way beyond my skill level at the moment. But trying to learn a bit of Theory.

Morning Folks just wanted to ask a question about the 1 6 2 5 turnaround if I was on a Blues jam playing a standard 12 bar blues if when it comes to the turnaround on bars 9 to 12 could I play the 1 6 2 5 turnaround or would the Guitarist or other musicians need to play it too? Or if they was playing the typical 1 4 5 blues progression would I have to play this too? Just asking just in case I wanted to step out of the usual and spice it up a bit, thanks in advance.

I have started dabbling with the Modes and Theory or should I say it’s hopefully going to be my New Year’s resolution lol, the plan is to drastically improve my Bass playing and Knowledge over the coming years hopefully I will stick to it, my biggest obstacle is time I have a part time job but I’m a full time carer for my wife so not making excuses my time is very limited, I start work at 2am until 7.30am then when I get home I look after my wife and run the house, shopping, cleaning, cooking and the gardening etc so it’s a pretty hectic life style, this is 24/7 every day, I try to put some time aside to practice but need to set up a routine and hopefully stick to it, it’s just a release but I would love to improve.

Thanks for the comments everyone, aye I’ll be putting some rounds on it as soon as possible, I must admit the frets are small but it’s something I have never taken notice of until pointed out by the fella I bought it from and watching a YouTube video but like most of you have pointed out it’ll take years to wear the frets out. Thanks again everyone

Just bought a second hand Squier Classic Vibe 50s Precision Bass absolutely mint nick looks brand new…..blonde see through finish looks stunning, brass saddle bridge etc, really pleased with it my only personal gripe is it’s strung with flats which I personally don’t like, but being doing some research on YouTube etc and because the frets are small more like a guitar apparently this is how they were built in the day, so it’s recommended that flats are better to prevent damage from round wounds which is a bit of a bummer, any suggestions anyone I personally would like to string it with rounds but don’t want the frets ruining, I don’t gig these days (never say never mind) it’s just a little bit of a hobby for me these days. Or should I persevere with the flats and hopefully get to like them. Cheers and happy new year to everyone.

Same as the one I have just got back after all these years, mines black. Made in India, no bullet truss rod, but it’s a tad too heavy for me, so will be moving it on at some point.

I believe they are.

Licensed by Fender they bought out the Sunn Factory in 85, so a bit of Fender history in them.

Lol I know

Just got my old Sunn Mustang P Bass back I loaned it out years ago to my friend and low and behold he turned up with it out of the blue, I can honestly say I had literally forgotten about it and thought I’d never see it again lol, it’s still plays okay and I reckon after a bit of TLC it’ll be okay for a second bass, bit buzzy acoustically but can’t hear it with headphones, needs a new set of strings and set up but a pleasant surprise. I know there just a cheap Bass but it’s probably getting on 40 year old so definitely a vintage vibe going on, unfortunately it’s one of the original models with no truss rod but we’ll see how it turns out, fingers crossed, chuffed to bits it’s turned up after all these years.

The buzzing I noticed when playing the bass unplugged I usually pick it up and have a quick plonk on it when I can, I often practice this way (unplugged) don’t know why just seems convenient at times (busy life schedule) my wife is very poorly so practice is limited, UK Lefty made some interesting comments on could be the way your holding the bass etc has it doesn’t buzz all the time. When I practice with the amp I usually wear headphones and haven’t noticed it, so will be trying a few things over the next day or so and I have contacted my friend who is going to take a look at it for me. But thank you to everyone who has commented and come up with suggestions much appreciated cheers for now.
