1.
You're reading far too much into my question. I'm just curious as to what people consider 'cool riffs' I suppose; and thinking of examples of when they might need to play them. Me personally, I'm not in a band, & I'm too shy to play in front of anyone..
Someone mentioned the Zombies, yep that kind of stuff or any decent blues riff, dont worry about what people thinks cool, just enjoy playing
2.
Well, I'm surprised that some of you have never had a friend or a member of your family ever ask you to play them something!
I guess most close friends have seen us all play live, I have my music gear in a room that no guests would go in unless they have cause to , so a visiter who doesn't really know me would not guess I played anyhow
3. Most likely just play mini bits of classic lines that everyone would know, anything from bilbos set would do it the chain, the wall, perhaps a bit of chic, depends who they where I guess
4. Well alot of people have more than one of the same type of footwear, and they dont hold their value like a 2nd hand bass does
5. Im an ex RH owner, but dont see its worth spending out on the features of the RH and not have the foot controller if your going to switch settings at gigs, tuners also good If you aren't going to use the settings like I didn't that much, then not much point having the amp IMHO
6. Andertons in surrey are doing some cashback on new fenders deal also
7. I took just over a year to leave a band after informed them, I said I'll wait till they found a new bassist, they went through a few that didn't work out during the year and kept asking me to stand in, but during that time they asked rather than expected of me and I was happy to help. So I guess you can only do it quietly for as long as your willing to help out during the transition and they need to be actively looking for a replacement
8.
We signed an Indie deal at the start of the year and our album came out a couple of months ago to some favourable reviews in the National Press)
Point me to where I can have a listen please
9. As my gigs are playing pop and rock covers I'm not sure they count given bilbos veiws on what is real music Being serious though, I can only gig once of twice a month around the other things I do , and I'm doing that more often than not

How much?

Yes £450 seems the rate for good second hamd japs , so -£50 or plus some depending on condition and demand for the particular model Commercial sales seem to be + another £100 to £150
11. Something like "your the best thing that ever happened to me" Gladys Knight is a great example of bass at its best, just beautifully underpins and helps the song glide along.
12. Id love to hear an example of what you are doing with the said bass
13.
Try Doddy.....or Bilbo, they're sure to tell you where to go.
yes those guys are really helpful regarding tabs just google the song title and bass tab, try a few of the results, you'll find a load a rubbish, but occasionally you'll find a good one, I often use it if im in a rush to learn something they can be helpful, but I find a chord chart equally as helpful to save a little time working it out.
14. great idea if it is done well, but lets see if the resale value is seriously effected by it, even if so and the owner got his money worths during his ownership, then I suppose still a good idea converting to 210s when you have a fairly low valued existing 410 cab is an expensive option
15. Looks like its 26th of Nov by WOT to beat, not sure if thats winning or losing though
16. wow, is it as thick as a car one? if so what could they possibly fill it with
17. Loved this one (bass etc does'nt kick until around 2.20 if you want to skip ) ..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lvYNb67B5dQ Fly teapot, was it Keith "missile" bass or something ? ive the album, might dig it out
18. This thread might die before it becomes relevant, but whilst entering a covers gig date into my calendar for december I began to wonder - Who will be the first BCer to play a christmas song live and on what date ?
19. I brought a brand new littlemark2 a few years back which almost melted st it's first use due to a faulty fan, shop said it was unheard of, think a small % of any electronic gear will develop faults, it's just when it's you it changes your perception of that brand, doesn't mean it doesn't happen across the board though
20. Slightly off topic but I've always thought that lemmy managing to get thrown out of hawkwind for a drug habit is like getting thrown out of the church for having too much faith , an unbelievable achievement
21.
I dug it. There was some cool unison melodies, and there were some nice chops going on.
Are you digging it purely from an technical respect point of view, or does this really do something for you as an emotionally engaged listener?
22. My wife of 14 years is very supportive of me playing in bands, and playing football (where a 2 hour game continues in the pub after), and she has little interest in both activities Great girl to me and my kids
23. wow, if the mother can cook as well, marry her
24.
I've never been to see Hawkwind live as people have told me not to bother as they aren't sounding too great live and rely too much on sequencers live. People's views on them differ so much that I don't want to take the risk and be disappointed.
For a band spanning that many years, with differing line ups and states of mind at any given time, im sure live performances have differed greatly, I must have got a good one (20 years ago), it was a really impressive experience
25. massive hawkwind fan here, one of the best live bands Ive seen, used their records loads to chill out to amongst other styles like shoegaze , americana, folk and jazz , they really have their place
