1. I've owned LMII , RH450, AMPEG PF500, all are fantastic and cover a lot of the spectrum, the only lightweight amp I didn't get on with was the Orange Terror, a great amp but I like the grind a bit more subtle than that does
2. Ive a PF500 and the DI is great, I love the tone of it through the cabs and when Ive had it in the PA, but as others have said, when you come some sound guys will just throw a DI box in your input cable and by pass the amp, meaning your only get your amp tone through your cabs Take your own cabs As far as Eq goes, cant advise sorry, but I've gigged the PF flat 2 twice and it sounds good
3. every track on the fog on the tyne lp is absolutely brilliant , with the exception of the title song which seems out of place on album but obviously a classic in its own right
4. I'm guessing if one of my family ebayd my stuff I could only take issue with them, not the buyer Not a legal position but realistic one I'd think
5.
Funny, I've only ever associated Rays with Steve Querault from Ride...
Ride, one of my favorite lesser known bands, never get bored of them
6.
Sheema
Is that the poorly fitted neck in your sig ?
7.
Mind you, who wants to go on stage in their slippers?
Ever since a guitarist told me not to wear crocs, they've become a bit of a trade mark, I wear them to every gig now
8.
I have 3 P basses currently, as per my sig. The most recent aquisition is the natural ash late '70's/early '80's one purchased from Bass Direct a couple of weeks ago. They do all vary, sometimes enormously so you have to play lots to find one that 'speaks' to you. Trip planned to Coda to try their customs shop 'P's in October! LC
I think that bass was lovely, I kept looking on the site and GASing
9. Assuming its a P bass, then I agree with the original post
10. Whilst Id never make a comment like that, and am in awe of what he can do, it would have to be on my doorstep for me to be interested in seeing him live as a frontman, but only because I enjoy a different sort of band experience more, and am set in my ways, Im sure Id love it, were it on my doorstep though Btw, if your 40+ and work hard, you've earned the right to be grumpy, enjoy it
11. the usual bar staff and die hard regulars only gig largest , a little over 2000
12.
I'd actually argue that pop music has always been a mess---look back at the charts for any given era and you'll find there's a lot of dross thats been forgotten.
Mick Jagger said in a stones film that their have always been pretty boys with nice haircuts in the charts, or something along those lines, yes its always been the case But remember that some of the older generation in the 60s, thought the beatles, stones and motown were modern rubbish, and then again with 80s pop and ska and so on Its my turn now to hate chart music !
13. Its hard to comment unless i know more about the situation, like is he last in, where the rest of you friends before etc. But what I do know is, most people are who they are, you might be able to alter his actions a little through heart to heart chats, but the bottom line is, mostly you have to take people at face value and decide if its worth it (good vs bad points), if not resolve it quickly for the sake of everyone, even if that means parting You mention he will become a Dad, that could change everything anyway, but again that will depend on the dynamics in his family unit, personally I carried on as normal with outside activities when my kids where young, my wife is cool, but it doesn't work for everyone
14. Have fun, obviously play as solid as you can, no need to over play Remember, you are also auditioning them, they might not be at your standard or they might be tossers Hopefully, they'll be a nice bunch and you'll form a good band -- Cant help with notation as I dont read, but they are easy enough tunes to work out, there will be chord charts and tab online though if you need some pointers Unless you can easily play some of those in different keys, maybe check what keys they use so you dont get caught out on the day
15. I think the same is true for everything, be it a hobby or a job I know some who play football in £100 boots, who run around in circles and achieve nothing for the team and dont grow, and others with £20 sports world boots who can really play Golf gear is a great example to Nothing wrong with spending money if you have it, but yes, more time practicing/learning, less time GASing would surely help us all
16. Surely mic stands should have enough give in them that when the singer whacks someone else on stage with the end, it should take some of the impact
17. I love playing on my flats, but last night an old covers issue came back, some of the songs just required the brightness and sustain of rounds Im wondering if there is a flat or even a half wound that might give me a bit of both, I really dont want to be using 2 basses like I have before, playing flats for some soul, then picking up the rounds bass for duran duran etc Anyone got any strings choices for me to try ?
18. Sent pm a while back, can I have the bridge please?
19. remember the guy with his arms folded and standing still, staring at you like he is going to punch you, is most likely really enjoying the gig, and doesn't want to punch you, he may even tell you after how good it was, and that he saw the stones in 72
20. Haven't owned or played a stingray for well over 12 years, want to get another, just waiting for the right one to come up here
21.
Seriously, how many of you think this is a genuine??
Sadly I do think it is genuine Which means we really shouldn't laugh
22. Is this a just give it more time thing re the value, surely if it where a signed amp by Entwhistle or Lynott , they'd be a good value attached ?
23. I think ive said this before , but this guy needs his own tv show, different subject each week, would be quality
