1. I'm carrying mine in a metal Hinged lid box, like the ones you can buy in the DIY stores, linned with foam Perfect fit
2. I Only knew of Kenny Rogers as a mainstream solo singer , found out this year he was a groovy bass player also
3.
Well there's the solution... Swap gigs with the OP and you'll both be happy
Yeah, i've never dep'ed a dep gig out before, could start a chain BTW , Bilbo, you lost your jacket
4. I'm not a member of said band since leaving over a year ago (with reasonable notice, mutual agreement, and without letting them down) since then they've been through a few Bass players but found no one they've got on with, I keep doing gigs to help them out, they are friends
5. To do a gig in central London, I live outside London and whilst I used to live , work and gig there im now not keen to venture in again just for bar gig The band in question I play regularly with, but only because they have had trouble getting a permanent bassist, don't want to let them down, but I really don't feel like doing this I did play in London last year with another band, but that was well paid and had lots of reasons to do so Am I being to fussy?
6. Sounds like a wasted trip - sorry to hear that I did speak to a friend this week who works nearby and said he'd been trying out telecasters during his lunchbreak and hadn't found to right one yet, so perhaps there is one shop at least that's ok with playing them , not sure which one though
7. Love this guy jamersonshook
8.
Newsflash, newsflash - the bass player puts the work in and keeps the band together. So much for all of us playing "the easy instrument" then
Seems the following is true If a singer misses a phrase, or breathes in the wrong place, or a guitarist drops out for a bar, it's all part of the live experience, but the bass must remain consistent for that performance to work We really need to know or structures, or at least have prompts that won't fail
9. Funny how these threads come back to reading being the benchmark, I started the bass clef YTS thread, and made some effort, only to figure out that what I do is what I do and the time I was devoting to it, was better spent on other things as it wont change what I do (play covers in a number of bands) Im not a pro, wont ever be, but earn from gigs, have fun and entertain others If I could go back in time, Id learn to read, but then Id also learn the cruyff turn instinctively along with loads of other skills, and Id have an arsenal of skills that would challenge batman
10. Its not really an issue to tune a guitar or bass, and tweak it a little during a set, in fact its all part of the experience for a player and as an onlooking, seeing someone tweak the pegs during or between songs, just makes it real and human Voice pitch adjusters and these devices, we dont need them
11.
Spot on with regards to structure, everyone needs to put in equal effort or it becomes a real chore.
Yep, if everyone does their homework, rehearsals can be fun and minimal If the singer cant sing certain song in the right key or one just doesn't work due to instruments at hand, lack of frills, strings or bvs on record etc, dont be scared to alter it or drop it, but make sure they all work Everyone mentioned youtube, I find live versions good for ideas you dont here on the record, either for your bassline, or for some exiting alternatives to the structure, if you have time for all that
12. Very untechnical, but last time I didnt like the sound of my cab on the stage , I used a crate found by the kitchen and a bit of black cloth from the caterers to tidy it up cosmetically, and it did the trick, dont know why but it worked:)
13.
I don't think that's the right question. Is it powerful enough, how many speakers and how heavy is it would be the 3 questions that I'd ask. Would it fit in the car would be the last question I'd think of. If there was an 810 that weighed 40 lbs I'd buy it. As it is I need each lift to be 40lbs or less and I want a combined total of speakerage of between 600 watts and 1000 watts. And I won't be relying on any cab specs for this info!!!
I understand your question and agree, but when I posted the thread, I was trying to grab what your initial reaction to seeing a cab in a small venue would be, and what would make you think "too big", regardless of headroom, amp size etc, just initial reaction
14. Are we sure its not really a BH236
15. Is there a way to really measure output at varying volume settings, if so , then one of the magazines should surely set up a test when reviewing and give some sort of rating or benchmark, which at least would allow you to compare across the board with a level benchmark As I said before whatever amp I use I always seem to end up with the dial in the same place anyhow

What do do

Yes keep on rockin in the free world Seen a few blues bands in the pub this weekend, these guys where mostly very far the other side of 45, was great
17.
does this thread really still need to be open? lol. everyone is aware of the fact the amp isn't actually 450W, and now the arguments are just going in circles.
Half the content on most forums is the same, but it's also half the fun, stop checking in when you've had enough, as mods generally only shut down when it gets personal or off topic
18. I sold my rh450 after coming to the conclusion i dont like/need tons of features, and now use an ampeg pf500, which gives me the plug n play tone I was after from the tc, I went through the terror in between but found that too harsh The interesting thing is that with all these 3 heads, when doing small gigs and relying mainly on backline volume , I seem to always end up with the volume in around about the same position
19.
Still not grasping this, I don't see there is a top, let alone getting over it.
Then that might well be your answer , that you wouldn't see any size or amount of cabs as over the top? Just asking for personal and even non technical reactions
20.
I don't understand the concept?
If you walked into a pub gig, what size cab would get you thinking "that's over the top"
21. The passive / powered question would depend on what system configuration you would be plugging it into at the gigs Although if it where powered you would alway be covered whatever feed you could pick up from
22. We all know that gigs with decent in house or hired in pa support mean that cabs can be dispensed with, but for some small function rooms and pub gigs, where we really rely on cabs, or use a trickle into the pa, my question is this.. If you walked in, what size cab would have you thinking "that's way over the top"
23.
Technically, he was Theodin's He was a horse of Rohan, the chief of the Mearas. Like the other mearas, Shadowfax was a grey or silver stallion and could understand the speech of Men. He was seemingly fearless. He could run faster than any other horse in Middle-earth. Nobody could ride Shadowfax save Gandalf, and he was later given to Gandalf by King Théoden. He would not tolerate a bridle or saddle, and carried Gandalf by his own choice. His name means Shadow-mane (Old Norse fax meaning "mane"); the name derives from the horses Skinfaxi and Hrímfaxi in Norse Mythology. In an unpublished epilogue[17] and a letter[18] Tolkien stated that Shadowfax passed West over the Sea with Gandalf; in The Lord of the Rings Gandalf appears with a "great grey horse" on the quay just before departing, and he had earlier promised Shadowfax (in the chapter "The White Rider") that they would not be parted again in this world.
Top Draw !
24. Up to around £500 , unless I could be sure of it being a cash investment I could recover, then the amount is not limited, although I've not exorcised this more than £1250 to date
