2.
COOL. So why are these so cheap? Built to a price? Reliable? I think I might have to get one....or a Streamliner......
I hope they are reliable, only time will tell, but Id guess there is no more chance of a failure than with any other decent brand, a small % of owners will always have bad luck with all range of electronic goods Price wise, Id say they are about right, the quality is in the sound, the DI etc, but its a little heavier than some other light heads, and the fan is noisy, both issues which don't bother me, but may assist in the price point I am very pleased with mine indeed
 3. Not knowing it, just tubed the song, and yes, its a nice one for a bass player to cover My problem is I recognise patterns when I hear songs and sit down work them out, I just don't know what alot of the the scales are called beyond basic major and minor, don't seem to need to for what I do, but it would be nice
 4.
Nice one lojo, these amps really DI well, don`t they?
Yes, ran it at the -40 and it still only needed a trickle in the desk, the tone through the PA was really spot on TBH my 115 was drowned out, but it was loud in the foldback in front of me so I didn't push the volume on the amp I used the ultra low and ultra hi button but didn't touch the EQ at all, all flat Using the 115 tonight for an acoustic set up in a church , so I'll get a feel for the cab without the loud band
 5. Gigged a pf500 last nights, post eqd into the desk Bass was quite present in the fold back and I had my 115 behind me All I can say is wow, the tone is pretty much what I've been looking for in a lightweight head I did have a fancy amp that I'm sure could do this but I was not clever enough with the settings , then the next amp I used was to harsh This for me is really plug n play for the sound Im after
 6.
Pleasant Valley Sunday by the Monkees. Great bassline!
Take that shine for dep gig last night, along with some others I never thought I'd sit down and work out
 7.
Ummm, is it actually a bonus?? Or is it an over-payment that they're going to ask for back lol Si
Yes ^ make sure first £200 treats £1000 in rainy day fund A bass can be a rainy day fund, but only if it's brought at what will remain a consistent second hand value
 8. often the rehearsal room firms will hire out their gear if you ask
 9. Just wondering if the value of these basses would be affected by refinish colour choice? There yours and you can do in your favorite non original colour if it's what you like, but it's worth knowing
 10.
too take it too the next level, Anyone know a good indian bass player?
Norman watt roy, although you could argue his cultural influence was a mix I bet if some Indian musicians who currently play non western instruments took up bass there would be some top class Indian bass players
 11.
I'm now thinking of a Fender Standard Jazz Bass, as Fender are a trusted brand.
The trusted comment might spark some debate, but yes if you like fenders, and have to buy new then the modern MIMs are nice basses If somehow you can get your hands on cash and not have to buy new for the HP then you can shop around for a decent JAP or very nice price 2nd hand MIM
 12. I don't really know much about him, so I just checked his own website The first line of the Bio is "Jeff Berlin is a legend of the electric bass. Simply put, he is considered by many to be the finest electric bass player in the world."
 13. Fingers for me for 99% Sometimes play the more aggressive stuff like I have a pick, but without the pick, seriously it works for me
 14.
Doh! Erm, just covers - you know I still don't know as the guys are arranging a list for me to figure out! Probably a bit of Crowded House, Killers, Del Amitri, Rod Stewart - to be honest, whatever goes from singalong fun to decent songwriters stuff. Usual procedure is for me to fill out a bit of space but as there are two guitars I'll be refining it:)
Cheers, I'll be there for the first weekend, then back towards the end of the week as work/weather allows, so might see your band Thought id bump thread, anyone else playing there ?
 15. Jb is clearly an amazing player, but he is putting down alot of this piers with this statement
 16. We've done £150/160 + bucket which worked ok, also doesn't cost the pub any %
 17. The positive thing about owning basses is that it's really A cash asset if it's something you could sell easily So no rush to decide anything until your convienved that you do need to money for something else Something's come back round into favor again after a break
 18.
just a pub called the Dolphin. Bottom of town opposite two other pubs. Have to have a drink hey? thats what everyone is there for!!
Sorry meant what are you playing , as in what music, you said it wasn't folk ?
 19.
thurs 3-5pm at the dolphin...a trio has been (is being!) put together consisting of myself, a guy called Jed and a guy called Mark. But we arent playing folk!! So its a bit of fun really. Should be playing lots of other dates but we've all been a bit tied one way or another to get round to it.
What are you playing ? I've seen all sorts at folk week, from folk to disco , its all good fun
 20.
This the man I use, his prices are very competitive, and he will give it a vintage finish if required for a bit extra. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Mighty-Mite-Lic-Fend...=item4cf8763279
cheers , I like the vintage finish but they have fender logos on, so I requested a cost for without logo, fingers crossed, thanks for the tip
 21.
The folk-rock band I used to be in always soundchecked with Silver Machine! Don't ask me why, it just seemed like the most ridiculous song that a band with a mandolin and fiddle could do.....
Id like to hear that
 22. Anyone playing at broadstairs folk week?
 23. Never been a a big tour, but I got to play with someone in the industry that I grew up listening to, had to travel to sheffield to play, hanging out in the park prior to the evening gig, and I broke my finger playing volleyball, it swelled up very quickly and the Doctor had to cut my ring off The highest point of my bass player life came and went within a week, I did play that night, but half of the well rehearsed parts I had to drop for simpler lines Not very rock n roll I know
 24.
If you're losing the drummer then the band will end up sounding weedy and not very RAWK at all. Listen to any albums or live recordings where the guitars dominate and the drums are too quiet and it's always the same. If your guitarists want to sound like they're in an aggressively rocking punk band then they seriously need to turn down. Rant over!
Thats common sense for anyone who has any comprehension of overall sound and dynamics, but most rock guitarists on the pub/club circuits are only concerned about them being heard, the band are just there cause they have to be, and before anyone shoots me I did say most, not all
 25. I only have a mint rs210 to offer as part trade, Im also the other end of the country, any milage in this?
