Hi Just wondering if anyone can help I've got a tapco mix120 which i wish to make use of at home, but needs a power supply I thought a trip to maplins would sort it, but they don't have any adaptors to suit The mixer has a strange 3 pin male connector, and the similar one in the maplins multi fittings doesn't come close to fitting Seems the mixer is discontinued and I can't seem to find a power supply online for it Anyone got any ideas? Thanks BTW the power is 18v 10w, but its the 3 pin plug part which is the issue

I'm sure this debate has come up before To sum up lets agree .... Ideally everyone would have a in depth knowledge of theory, no matter how much natural talent exists, but that will never be, unless all our schools teach it as well as the written word, and alot of schools are still failing at that It is possible to enjoy and entertain and be in a good band with very little theory, but very difficult with none whatsoever It is possible to have a high level of theory and not be able to do anything apart from play from sheets It is possible to have no theory and not therefore not understand how much knowing theory could help, and therefore dismiss it It is possible to know theory and look down on those that don't It is possible to not know theory and think those that do are elite asses, even though they may be nice chaps who studied hard to know theory It is possible to know theory, be naturally good and be a top musician It is possible to have no theory, but have a good ear and do well at trail and error, even within complex arrangements It is possible to have no theory, bad timing and no ear It is possible to have theory, bad timing and no ear Have I missed any ?

Anything that keeps bass players from hanging around in bus shelters is a good idea Im sure if you arrange it in a central location, and promote some sound ideas for it, you may have a great event on your hands

For anyone starting out, id do it differently if I started over, I mean learning theory properly etc But that does not take away from the fun and experiences, I and many others have, playing guitars, drums, keys etc at many levels without the theory background

I've been playing bass for 25 years off and on, and been in bands for most of that, have had some good paid gigs, and a lot of fun doing the just for expenses pub type stuff Technically and theory wise, I am a beginner and wouldn't refer to myself as a musician (I only had one lesson with Jakesbass)

What I was trying to hint at though, was if you have the ability to play some of the faster, more intense JJ stuff, then the ability to work them out without a book is most likely within the abilities of said player Very hard to play, yes, very hard some of them, but not so hard to work out the notes maybe Re: Ukulele, didn't Hayseed Dixie do some ACDC

I'll let you know how i get on.[/quote] Most of these books are aimed at musically untrained teenagers who are learning their favorite bands tunes through power chords, its how I started I would also guess that anyone who can read the whole arrangement, and has the skill to play those lines, wouldn't really need the book to work out stranglers songs Not sure I've got the drift of this thread, it might have gone over me head a little

If i've read your email correct, then as with this girl, there are some young trained musicians who can't yet play in a band situation, outside of collage style playing To be fair, this may have been her first step outside of that comfort given her comments about playing all styles, she has most likely done a bit of everything in a class, and has no real world experience to understand what she doesn't know The same can be applied to any number of trades and professions where someone has graduated, but is yet to experience the real world The experience will do her good in the long run, even if she is slightly hurt by your comments
