In this world there would be no octaves in disco lines and straight ahead 8th note rock would be 1+ stop +3+ stop +
But it comes across as a little egotistical when the whole band is used as a vehicle for the bass, which is whats going on in the intro in the first link.
Im usually one for admiring up front bass players for their talent and skill, but not really enjoying it from a sit back n listen perspective, but I did really enjoy the intro, I got into it

My TC gain can be quite high on some passive basses , so may not be a problem with the amp, although I know its off putting to crank it up as usually this is not the done thing on most amp heads Is the out put on the bass low anyway ? I raised the pick ups on my MIM and it made a massive difference
Ive been listening to alot of jamiroquai lately and love playing alot of their tunes, but i want ot find more bands with that bass groove, sort of funky aswell.
Some of "The Crusaders" and "Roy Ayres" tracks have bass like what you asked for, to my ears at least
My question/issue is: The performers who were there before (and who most likely will be again) are highly talented pro or semi-pro musicians. They have albums! Which you can buy! In shops! I'm worried that I'm just gonna look like a d!ck. Is this normal? Am I being paranoid? And on a gear note, I don't know whether to take my 3x10" MarkBass combo, or my little Ashdown Perfect10. One is sublime, the other ridiculous, but I'm not sure which is which!?!
I have met a lot of talented pro and semi pros in my lifetime who's abilities scare me, but 99% of them have been humble and respectful towards anyone who enjoys playing, same experience applies to sports, apart from the odd up himself dick, so, unless you self inflate yourself (which you obviously don't) no one is going think bad of you, they'll be on your side Your friend (and the others ) obviously wants you to perform with him, and you value his judgement don't you? It sounds like you are going to play parts you have already practiced, so you wont be put on the spot to Jam, so if you play the parts as rehearsed, nothing more is asked of you Good luck I'm hooked

first : a borrowed PA system head with about 10 channels and huge pa speaker, then soon after an old fender valve guitar combo current : TC RH450 212 & 210

Great stuff There was a chat posted asking for tab or something for this line I think? If anyone recalls this, pointing him here might help him
the thing that amazes me is he just took it and did nothing.i would be wiping bits of singer skull off my guitar
I think there is sadly some deeper ongoing abuse going on between that lot

I brought a little mark II new last year, first time i used it it got really hot, fan was not working, I phoned the shop and it was hard to get them to believe there was an issue They said they would have to send it back blah blah, I insisted and they exchanged it for a new one with no issues

We sometimes get involved with creative storage solutions, but its difficult to comment without seeing the area and equipment in question Some strange things we have done include, a pulley system that stores daily used push bikes against the ceiling in a stairwell to parts of staircases that lift up to reveal storage space underneath

Id normally think stuff like this was dull and boring, I like my soft music to be more folky, but she does something for me, I think she is great, she's no clone, and even if she was, you still need talent to clone someone like Karen Carpenter Not sure if I've missed the bass element of the thread though

Basschat Awards: Gigging in the face of Adversity
lojo replied to Happy Jack's topic in General Discussion
in 90s I auditioned for someone I really wanted to play with, got in, off to sheffield, hanging out in park during day before the evenings music and broke left hand ring finger playing volleyball, finger swelled up, had to have ring cut off, got through gig with loads of painkillers I know it cant compete with serious illness recovery or broken legs n arms, but digits and toes are painful 1st gig back a few years back after long break was dads rock in a pub, and needed imodium to get through the set after a day of work at home lying by the bathroom door -
Yes, Sade, fantastic I compare "Sade" the band to the "Blockheads" Before you laugh at that comment, what I mean is that both front man and woman, and both bands, although different in styles, stand out still today as completely unique and so listenable
Where / what is the subliminal message?
Surely if it where subliminal, you wouldn't notice it only subliminally know what it told you to do

Yeah I gave up gigging when I had kids until a few years ago, for me it wasn't I hated gigging, it was I hated the pack down after Still have to love the gig enough, to see you through the pack down
He's not negative just very laid back and "lazy" which sometimes annoys the crap out of me but he's my mate so I tell him to shut up and get on with it! It's so much of a big rant about him but just wanted to get feedback on what others feel about it??? A fellow drummer friend of his once said "Bill, your the most un-enthusiastic drummer I've ever met". The thing is, he's a fantastic drummer and we are stupidly tight together!!!! *brain melts* Really interesting hearing everyones' experiences though :-D
Not sure what level of playing your at, but certainly with the small time things I do and at this age, almost everyone I play with that is worth playing with, has some sort of issue that bugs me, and I them Sounds like aright character, but one who despite what he voices, turns up and plays extremely well, can I borrow him

I cant comment re playing as Im not pro player like you However, I can comment on the business approach to people not knowing the full extent of what you do I have sometimes found we are involved with projects where we only tackle a certain aspect whilst running another project at the same time and we are involved in the area we are not doing in the other one, hope that makes sense Usually this turns out to be that when we get recommended, clients often take the area of work you are recommended on and assume without asking thats you defined area and limit and only request prices for that aspect, and more often than not they say after discovering we can do the all aspects "I wish id known" So, I now make sure to tell all new inquires the full extent of what we do, but always make sure this is done without stepping on anyones toes So Doddy, id suggest at the first point of interest a client shows in electric bass, you mention the DB side of your service, or include some wording or picture in an email or letterhead, that subtly informs them That "wish Id known" comment has made me realize that quite a lot of business gets lost due to clients not knowing what the extent of what we cover You may however not wish to provide every service to every client for various reasons
