1.
I`ve bought a good many basses, virtually all unseen. As long as you`re specific with questions asked you should be able to get a feeling from the answers as to whether to continue or walk away.
Ive had the same as lozz many times , even from aboard , but you have to be confident in your own assessment , if your not post pics and questions and you'll get loads of help on here good luck
2. I played these for over a year on my stingray and loved them , they can go bright if needed , though not sparkle Used them also on P for few gigs and have now fitted them to my J I have other basses with rounds and a P with really old flats on , but every gig I did over the last year plus has been with cobalts
3.
Depends on the location and whether there is a sports event on. 10 miles away there is an estate where stabbings of minorities is a common event. So there I would think EDL In my village - a few old army men here. Probably just proud to be British - just a noose with it wouldn't allow that interpretation.
Ha, it can be reversed , I live in a quite English village now but the UKIP candidate lives a few doors up , and from my old days i know plenty of people on estates who are patriotic but not rasict
4. I don't disagree just that people where using it innocently even if ignorant , that privilege is now nullified. The worlds a mess eh , should be run by bass players Edit : even if I did disagree I'd not argue with a Union Ref
5.
It's not a modern purpose - it's the original purpose, after it has been sanitised by recent pop culture.
Yes , but my point was it was accepted as a rock culture thing and evolved slightly into a more passive thing in certain sub cultures , recent modern events have taken that away and make the dukes of hazard rasict The Union Jack is hard to interpret , if you see one hanging out a window , do you think EDL or royalist who is proud of multicultural inclusive society
6. Whatever bass though A/B switch if also using keys bass, into multi amp with whatever head setting I need (little mark / Big Bang or trace or ampeg emulator) 2x210 markbass cabs , DI to desk
7. Unfortunately the flag is now being used for more modern purposes and it might be time for sensible people to move on from it Sadly
8. Keeping on the Robert Wyatt theme above , this is a great take on a Nile Rogers / Edwards song https://youtu.be/s1M9YTv3v7I
9. I don't listen to covers , once I've heard a song once it's not original anymore and twice is too much For some reason I love every cover I've ever heard of "hurt so bad"
10. Thanks guys , perhaps things have improved since I last tried years back
11. Trying to really emulate sounds is why I brought a multi amp a few years back guess your band would be a step above ours but I'd not expect to get much more than the over drive and a few subtle tones from other effects through a heavy guitar song like that I still listen to early Gary Numan most weeks , analogue bass just works so well in his electronic music
12. Tab can be seen as a bit of advice , often helpful to some extent , to save time when working something out I'd like to see less open strings and more finger positioning , but then I don't post it so can't really complain , it's saved me time at short notice before on many occasion
13. Anyone up do date on any good apps which allow spotify to be used to play along using an iRig I've not used my iRig for a few years and gave up due to limitations on importing play along songs
14. Just watched a steely dan video and he's got a PJ+another J near the bridge in the early 70s Ha Gonna try TO find The Pkayschool Clip
15. Part of the side effects of my chemotherapy is loss of normal feeling in the tips of my fingers , it's not extreme or painful but it means he subconscious way of naturally playing bass (and guitar) is compromised. I did read once on here About people wearing special gloves for a condition (think it was to do with sweat) so I'm sure that had similar effects . Or has anyone else struggled with this ? As usual any thoughts or experiences would be interesting and useful The loss of normal feeling could also be described as an increase in feeling or over sensitivity.
16. Thanks , some good pics , be cool to get hold of one of the angled cabs
17. No its not evil , it depends what your goals are as a bassist or musician and what level of study you want to put time into or achieve
18. Maybe I should know but who is that I had some heavy orange gear once , a 410 is enough to make your trousers flap
19. When I recently became ill I had to pull out of 2 Dep gigs id booked a few weeks apart , something I've never done and id never do but it was in very extreme circumstances . I felt so bad that I managed to arrange both players I was depping for to cover each other as they could make the dates for each other's band just not their own. It all worked out great and I got good feedback from both bands . This was at fairly short notice but fortunately about 75% of both sets where we'll know covers So yes it can work at function / party level if everyone has the right attitude
20.
If you told them you were unavailable then no gig should have been booked.
This is how things should work
21. How did I miss this , I've had an American neck sitting around for ages
22. Fair enough , loads of pinapples left rotting all over the site is no good for anyone
23. Never really listened to him at home , but their live show is brilliant
