  1. Yes and the fact you can see a record going round . I do like CDs and they do have sleeves , just not as big as records but they at least have them . I googled for a CD player where you can see the something going on instead of it just disappearing into a black case but couldnt find a decent hifi one
  2. That surprises me I would have thought the order of importance would be Digital (for its ease) , CD then Vinyl ?
  3. Vinyl is huge and seems here to stay for at least the next generation Cassette tapes and previous formats of tape seem to have disappeared So is Cd going to be collectible ? Or at least have enough fans to keep it alive What does everyone predict ? I sold my records when I thought I was going to emigrate years ago , or I think I'd have revived my use of it by now . I'm purely digital stream and Cd now , and rarely buy CDs , but often think I should at least be buying my favourites on some sort of format other than pure data
  4. That was a general reply to whenever I find myself playing in a small band setting with no engineer , so all sorts really . I'm not saying it's the right way as I'm clueless but certainly helps over just leaving it random . Some direction on this would help for when I find myself in these situations , As I realise how lucky it is to have someone who knows what they are doing at most gigs I do .
  5. It's a shame that there has been a post belittling tribute bands , music people love is heard everyday through headphones on the move and LPs in peoples homes so why would the visual and live performance recreation not be a next step for some fans. The one thing I love about the musicians I know and call friends both weekend warriors and pros is their love of life and tolerance of people just being into whatever it is they love, be it tributes , originals or running a Sonia fan club
  6. When I play with a small band and there is no out front engineer I cut the lows out of the Vocals >200 and the guitar amps , seems to help leave space for the bass .
  7. A headless 5 with a light board is my dream bass , shame I've just got hold of a new 5 in a trade Anyway , I've dealt with LowRegHead before and you can buy with complete confidence
  8. For a covers band to function well every member needs to Like a large part of the set Play some songs they might not be keen on but other members are, and maybe play one or two they really dislike in short every member needs to have some needs met and give a little also , without these 2 in each member it won't last
  9. I can't add anything but hope it all works out , my son sells clothes and their are some knobs out there who know the tricks
  10. You can only do it what you can do , present that with confidence. I'm sure they are glad to get help , most deps will bring something different in approach doesn't mean it's a bad
  11. I saw a great tribute band "The illegal eagles" the other week I play in an 80s tribute band and we ty to replicate as best as we can the feel and effects of the songs . I love hearing re inventions but that's not what we've chosen to do with our project
  12. Aside from the funky 70s I love the bass in the Waltons
  13. I think I can be described as quirky 😀
  14. I remember a start up band doing Local club as we told them we'd bring a crowd and worked out the temp memebership few quid on the door thing. There was a large few tables of regulars and I was slightly worried we would ruin their night , but the funny thing was whilst they hardly left the table , at the end of the night one of them said it was the best night in the bar for 25 years sadly that working mans club building has now been sold
  15. Is it possible to post the link to the book the one in the first post isn't working
  16. Either as band mates or employees you have to take people as they are pros and cons . One of the singers I play with uses a stand even after years of doing the same songs , however I've played with singers who don't need a stand who can't sing a Ballard like she does .
  17. If I go to see a semi pro or weekend warrior band or they are booked for a wedding or party then a music stand to help the singer get through 30 songs is acceptable to me , as long as the general quality is there . If I go to see Iron Maiden or a £25 per ticket tribute act , then it's not Pesonally as someone who worked a day job and played in bands , learning lot she of basslines well was sometimes a big ask , so I sympathise with singers in similar situations and understand the need
  18. Hohner B2A Some body wear (looks awesome , see pics) but fully functional condition Original case included (very tatty but operational) Set of spare double ended strings £200 including postage within U.K. In response to a few questions ... The truss rod turns no problem The controls are vol/vol/tone The active switch and Led work There was a slight crackle on the tone pot at the low end but only slight and only whilst it was being turned The fold out leg rest is fully operational
  19. Body from yahama BBN5 A few dents and scratches £25 posted Bridge also for sale @ £10
  20. I know what you mean but I think some budget instruments sound great with good strings . I brought a Sub for a friends son and in no way can it be said it's not quailty even though it's technically a budget instrument
  21. Illegal Eagles , Dorking halls last week well worth seeing
