1. Midfield Anchor controlling the tempo and solid on the structure and dynamics , just like the English football team , oh hang on thought it was compliment
2. Not lost much on anything , happy to lose £50-100 on a 2nd hand bass if I enjoy it for a period , don't really see it as a loss I guess if i where to sell my amp which I brought new id make a fair loss , but then what value do you put on the use of it each year and is that loss ?
3. Nah , all the drummers I play with or have since I started gigging again 7 years ago are all as reliable as the Icelandic Defence
4. I use 2 x 8ohm Mark bass cabs at gigs with a Mark bass head but 1 cab at rehearsal is enough , can't see why your rig wouldn't be ok they must pair ok ?
5. Had a play with the v3 Wah at the weekend , tried to get the "blow my mind" song sound , got close , sounds really good
6.
Aurora has me mesmerised at the moment.
Yes she reminds me of seeing the girl who fronted the sugercubes for the first time Not that she is the same , but that she is totally unique without being contrived
7.
Sometimes it's not specifically your EQ that's at fault. Instead, it's the guitarist or the keyboardist getting into your sonic territory. Mid-neck bass on A and D strings is bottom end of the guitar. Is guitarist playing with a bass loaded sound?
Yes, check the guitarists amp and dail out his bass knob , do the same with keyboards or on the mixer , also make sure the vocals are not set with low bass or everything bassy going into the mic (which is not just the singers voice) will get re amplified
8. Just ordered a set for my new stingray , looking forward to trying them
9. Does anyone here also DJ at functions level ? If so what equipment / setup are you using ?
10. I use the full version on my iPhone , it's much nicer . Switch to mobile if you have problems with messages though
11. Their actions also buggers things up for those who genuinely need to hold an item Good luck
12. Can someone hurry up and answer because I don't know which one to take to a session tomorrow night .
13. Im still hoping Van Morrison comes back to finish the set
14. There is a light, wonderful bass line and fairly uplifting music (not the lyrics)
15. I need to check what I said last time
16. Revived this thread whilst searching for a stingray set up guide I've been doing my fenders , for which there is a real heap of info around, whislt I'm sure the principles are the same, is there any specific guides to stingray set ups ?
17. I love the sound of the bass on Lindisfarne FOTT album , I'm guessing it's a fretless P but I really can't be sure ,whatever it is though it's the right sound to my ears for folky rock
18. Really enjoyed the series , but as with all things like this it's hard to compare different genres. There has to be a winner and they were more than worthy , but I could say that of a fair few of them Seems like all the bands who got to have a go loved the experience , even though they played for nowt
19. About 5-6 years ago "Sit Down" got into our set , It was a real crowd pleaser but I worked hard to get it moved on. Nowt wrong with Mustang Sally, did a mini festival last summer and it was on the set list of the band I was depping for. Id drunk a fair bit and needed the loo badly, so I handed my bass to the guy standing to the side of the stage (bassist from next band) he couldn't say he didn't know it
20. You could argue going from a 5 to a 4 is harder as you'll be moving around the fret board so much more to achieve things that can be played in one position on a 5 Not saying it is , just there is no "harder" just differences
21. I'm not sure there's really snobbery but there is banter in all things , but I wish I could emulate the fast picking I hear on some of music I love , there's a special tone that just cuts through which I really love
22.
I'm sure the millions of people who play an acoustic guitar would wonder what all this fuss is about?
Nah, I've got an acoustic and it's not a problem as you reach round it, but I struggle with non contoured bodies on bass, as I rest my forearm right on the top of the body. I played a ric for a while and wore a wrist band to stop it cutting in
23. Looks like its 1994 , with the flea bridge Gonna plug it in and mess around with it later
24. If any buyers don't want the pedal, at the right price I'm interested if it becomes a a useful option for you
