1. Like we really need another I brought a cheap but excellent Yamaha BBn5 (£120) to see how I got on with 5s after years of getting comfortable on 4s. I was having to take 2 basses to cover a tribute set which has some songs that needed d tuning. I forced myself to gig the bass and get over the fear of the 5 . I can really fool around on the 4 without worrying so the 5 was restrictive at start with. Done a handful of gigs on it and another one on saturday. Ive considered the 4s again, but this time its not the hassle of D tuning urging me to take the 5 , its that I have actually gelled with an alien and cheap instrument (compared to the cost of my 4s) and got into being able to play lower 5ths and different positions on songs that don't really need the B , if used sparingly it can really add something. Now I keep looking at 5 strings in the for sales , do I really need to upgrade something that has won me over like that ?
2. I loved my lm2 so much , I used to run it flat and use the filters depending on the genre of song, it may simulate what you could do with the eq but it makes it easier during a gig
3. General Fitness and Diet will help in all areas of course, but I find I flag only at gigs when I am wanting it to end. If im loving the gig , I dont feel tired.
4. Lemmy ? In his how not to play bass clip he plays a nice little walking line
5. Wires by Althlete Came out a few years after my son spent a month in ICU, 7 days of those ventilated and sedated
6. I keep finding myself using the trace simulation on my multi amp, sometimes think I should just go buy an old one for party gigs
7. If multi amps are included in your thinking then the Mark Bass multi amp does everything
8.
Colin Moulding is a fantastic bass guitarist...I love XTC...and don't forget Dukes of Stratosphere!
That's right , 25 o'clock !
9. Wow it's my YOB , and it's in better nick than me.
10. That's mean, only the original artist has any right morally to do this, and most of them wouldn't. Let's hope another Lizzy tribute comes along to compete for their shows and wins that fans over in the future , there satus to command and sell tickets is not guarented Any lizzy forums you can rant about this on ?
11. Guess there's loads , some great ones already mentioned Turning Japanese ?
12. I actually brought a solo album by Dave Holland, so there is a market for it
13. It's one of the reasons I for many years have a policy of just playing covers for the fun of the party , if I wanted to play for the sake of music , I'd have no audience. This really came home the other night as I went to a free and well publicised blues night, the artists all travelled far, a small radio station was recording the gig, and a well known Dj did the introducing. Serious players really into the genre etc. Some with ex well known band credentionals. Mix of original and covers dating back to the 20s, could go on ..... All that said, total punters (and it was free entry) about 50 I'd guess. The local pub gets a bigger crowd for a covers night.
14. I wonder what the rise in price will be by sticking under the bed for another 20 years
15. Yeah , wonder what price someone would pay though ?
16. IMO the thing about functions is you cant call how its going to be, something that sounds fun can end up being awkward and no fun, and other things that sound boring can turn into real atmosphere parties.

18. I think that the bass player is normally subtly grooving it looks cooler than jumping around doing solos then not being sure what to do with yourself for 2 verses on guitar, but I'm someone who also enjoys defensive tactics in football
19. I'm a bass player or someone's bassist , definitely not a musician
20. Guess it depends on if it's a model or your really after and the price is good I'd respond to this with no pics 1980 stinGrey , all wood no color , 3 knobs , hardlly played 300 Ono
21. If you think you are going to enjoy the gigs and be able to commit and the opening is there , that's all that matters Otherwise wait for the next opportunity
22. 2 is all you need , for the simplicity , if not the sound
