1. If a drunk person who dances all night goes up to a musician after a gig and over states how brilliant it was, the musician does not say "sorry love you are unqualified and too under the influence for me to except your compliments" I guess it should work both ways, however the drunk person may have danced to rubbish without question and the person in the Op who critised the solo, might also critise Clapton.
2. We played an old working mans type club a few years back, there was enough people who came to see us to make a good atmosphere (they did entrance fee on door as it was private members) , but there was a fair few locals on a large table at the back and we thought our audience and them where after conflicting evenings . Anyway , they sat there all night , 20 + of them , but after 2 sets at the end a guy came up to me who had sat still all night and said "that was the best f/Ing evening here in 25 years You never can tell
3. Bugger, I thought I was in the for sale section for a moment Lovely bass, enjoy
4. I'm currently building a Pino, now he's moved the goals posts
5.
Mick Jagger. I think to be proper Rock Star you also have to be a household name. People from kids to Grannies will have heard of you.
A few years ago I educated my daughter and her friends as they where all going round singing "moves like a jagger " They thought I was mad when I said no the songs about a man named jagger
6. Cliff Richard once said something like "I never threw TVs out of windows or did those things, so I am the real rebel" , he was massive and could have done what he wanted, so he maybe right on this.
7. Seems a bit wrong to say "respectfully" call it a day to them, if they want to keep gigging the songs with a different line up / take on it, then good luck to them. If it doesn't work or draw the punters, thats their risk.
8. This is the order Id programme into the Tardis. 81 Hawkwind / New Order 09 Neil Young 84 Smiths / Weather Report 90 Cure / Happy Mondays
9.
Rather than below 40 why not just stipulate that they must still be alive? Or still playing?
Then there is a long list ahead of Mr West
10. Yes I'll do some in the next few days , cheers

12. Ha , well done, P basses can do it all I've loved p basses since I got back into playing for a number of years now , I just brought a jazz with a chuncky neck (can't stand the narrow ones) and I'm having the opposite experience Now need a j retro
13.
Just do it. Jazz elitists will always find something to disagree with.
This is true , just have fun
14. In my new 80s tribute there are so many keyboard intros for the power ballards, us guitar players could almost build a guitar between songs

Ampeg Tone

I agree with everyone , peace and love I've never owed a real ampeg (just pf) but did use a own to full valve and ceramic speaker orange rig , and nothing could ever touch IMO (I miss it) However I'm with Lozz ,I can get close enough with my modern stuff and need no help lifting or trolleys If I where in a bigger band where they would set up whatever instructed prior to My arrival and it suited the music, I'd go real heavy old school valves everytime
16. I know its a cliche, but with good reason - Eagles , Hotel California and One of these nights in particular just allow the songs to glide along, nothing fancy just perfect.
17. A freindy helpful basschat basic guide to setting up a pub gig pa would be a good thing if anyone has the knowledge and inclination. The last one I did got really packed and we lost control of the good sound we started with. Things like eq'ing vocals out of bass ranges and to avoid rumble , getting the keys and guitar to sit under the vocal , speaker positioning etc. I like to trickle everything into to pa to help a good balance at low volume , whereas many think just turn up amps and compete , I've no idea if I'm right or not.
18. I did a support slot for my local village fundraiser, it was to support a ticketed tribute act, so they got local musicians to support for free, the guitar player brought 4 guitars and set up first taking up half the stage. We did about an hour I will take 2 basses for a gig in a few weeks, a 5 string for a couple of songs, I dont need it for all and dont want to play the whole gig on it
19. I've gone over to spotify this year , so there's tons of stuff I want to listen to. Do so whenever I get the chance, which is an hour done evenings , or just the odd few songs here and there
20. Clannad - Robin of Sherwood from the 80s TV series , one of my favorite albums
21. Lozz can set up a test next bass bash, get 20 people to play the same line on the same bass, see what happens.
