1. Bugger can't do it on that day
2. I'm near Guildford , do you if there is any chance of getting in on this ?
3.
Any band attempting Livin on s prayer. Cue "Whoa we're half way there......" Holds mic to audience. Even freakin Bon Jovi can't hit that note. Please guys, please
That's the perfect deflection , if I could do this for most choruses that go high I'd be able to front a band I love Lee Mack's sketch of Robbie Williams doing this , "I've paid £150 for this gig, please can you fockin sing it yourself"
4.
I play a Warwick in a Funk-Rock band...does this make me hipster or chav? This system isn't the clearest
More Hipster I think , but who cares if your having fun Systems are never clear, but right now music stands help with entry
5.
Of course it would but there are 1,000 other songs that wouldn't and which don't have words that are made up like fantabulous and, indeed, moondance. You could also clear the floor with any number of great tunes. A full dance floor is not the only way to entertain people. I have never seen a full dance floor at a Billy Connolly gig. Doesn't mean it isn't entertaining.
Yes , but if people are going to cheer and dance to Moondance , it makes no sense why you could not keep them on the floor by going into a similar paced walking bass led rhythm , I've tried hard to get various functions bands I've played in to do a jazz standard , just one , but no one will risk anything beyond Moondance (which I know you hate being associated to jazz) , they won't even risk All Blues
6. Never played one but have always been impressed as a listener , might check out the recordings above They do look like a laser weapon out of a sci fi film though
7. I've gone through this recently , and nearly brought a key tar . In the ended up using the markbass synth , took alot of playing around with though, isn't quite there , but ok when the rest of the band are playing as well
8. Last summer in south of France on a campsite, it was a talent show at the restaurant , quite a large amount of adults , but this meant a large amount of kids all sitting by the stage . About half way through the evening a European guy gets up to sing "creep" , accompanied by acoustic guitar. Imagine Arnie singing it , nothing wrong with that , but he had the lyrics printed to read and did not have the radio version . Every chorus " your so f***ing special " , he had no idea he belted out , all the Brits didn't know what to do, neither did the young kids
9. When this thread was started I seem to remember there was a lot of looking down on covers , p basses etc going on the thread , that's the sort of thing that gets you in , sorry but the mainstream view of Burberry and joggers won't get you in, unless of course it's evolved
10.
Used to gig just a US Jazz, last couple of years it's been a US P. I thought about getting the Ric out of early retirement for the new project but the singer can't stand the sound of them apparently so I guess I'll be sticking with the P. If we play a pub with enough floor space I might bring the jazz out as backup, not taken a 2nd bass to a gig for years.
A pub singer had better be flipping good if they are making judgement on what bass you can play
11. Does this mean if you can vary playing behind , on and just after the beat during the same song you are a good bassist , if so I was better 25 years ago than I am now.
12. Thinking about it the one sound that eludes me from bass, regardless of playing style or how I set settings , is new bright rounds can't give the warn in flats sound , and warn in flats can't do new rounds.
13.
The problem is not the song, Gonz. It is no worse than a million other pop songs. It is the assumption that it has something to do with Jazz and the fact that the bass playing on the original is shocking even though it was on a major hit. And finally, being the blunt, I just like making mischief sometimes 😎
I'm not into playing this , not because I claim to know jazz theory but because I've played it 100 times at functions, so it's like walking on sunshine or mustang to me , just bored with it. I do wonder though, it always get people going, do you think there is a technical reason why this works in this way, even accidental ? I mean if we had played Autumn Leaves instead on most of those occasions with what the experts are calling a better arrangement and bassline , it would clear the floor
14.
Yep, some musos seem to like dissing tribute bands. I put it down to snobbery! Some of the most talented players can be found in tribute bands.
Theres always people within music who think everything but what they are into is uncool. I started this thread because I've seen a few lately and have started one (well to a decade) It's been nothing but fun so far
15. Certainly doesn't help stingray GAS this thread does it
16. Leave it , it works and looks road worn
17. I don't think I play loud with 2x210 over a 210 , but it does seem more punchy and present Add that it gets the top cab closer to my ears and allows access to amp control easier But the main reason , the rig looks great
18. Small gig no pa support I use 2 x 210 Larger gigs with decent pa and stage monitors could be 210 (or even nothing, as some on here do)
19. I totally get the just play and don't worry nobody cares approach , but I'm now in a period of really getting into emulation. Last gig I used amp modelling to get a great tube tone, played songs with a heavy chorus, 2 types of synth bass and a nice clean pop tone. I think it did get noticed, if only by other musicians (there was dancing which would have happened anyway) But it makes a big difference to me, I get a buzz out of it. As I've said before it's more about amp and effects than the bass.
20. Just wondering who and what we have on here What do you do ?
21. If good condition I generally think 2/3rds of the current new price is about right with these things
22.
Though I would ask, how many of our bass acquisitions are not overkill? hehe!
True, theres a thread on the best bass to cover all covers, personally I think with this amp, it doesn't matter which bass you have, unless your running clean markbass amps only.
