They're basses, they all sound the same.
But they don't all look the same, feel the same, and have amount of knobs etc. which is the main thing.

I've got no clip of it , but I've confidently hit a few intro notes in the wrong keys before

Wow , more please Also we need more of this on here, instead of arguments over 5v4s

I've invested in a rackcase, it just seems to expensive to carry around like and sit on top of the cabs like I did my little mark. I've got a 3u so I hope one day to get a rack wireless over my g30 Re the controller , I was very comfortable just using the presets on the amps and tuner , but I guess that's ok for different sounds for different songs only over changing during songs In many ways this amp is over kill , but I am throughouly enjoying the effects

For those Of Us Who have To Audition, Do You Ask The Right Questions?
lojo replied to blue's topic in General Discussion
I've done a few auditions for established but essentially weekend worrier functions bands. Everytime I've turned up and played the pre agreed songs as close to a recording as pos, been on time , in everyday causal gear etc and never had a problem. -
The only tweak id like to see so far is the mute/tuner button over riding all . It doesn't work if your just in user preset menu mode , you have to be displaying the patch settings . This is a shame as during a gig I only need to be in user menu mode and scroll up and down for each preset

Lately ... Fame - Irene Cara Anything by Duran Duran Anything that I can use Synth effects on It will change in a few months

Once you've selected the existing patch name and the letter is flashing if you enter it saves it over the existing without having to re enter the name

I've got really into emulating sounds , but it's all in the effects and amp Covered a wide range of sounds and styles this weekend at a gig , but all on a P bass Could could have used any of my basses really, a bass with a bridge J type pup might have helped a little on some sounds , but otherwise choice of bass is less important than amps and effects

Decisions decisions - looking for input on specs
lojo replied to Evil Undead's topic in General Discussion
Nothing wrong with cheap basses that play well and nothing wrong with spending on a nice bass if you can afford it , regardless if you are in a band or not , people buy all sorts of things for all sorts of reasons. Spending money helps the world go round (well not technically) Keep us posted -
Unless you've seriously compromised your cash flow then buying second hand bass at a cost you could resell at isn't much different to having the money in an account

Great, any shared info on these can only be a good thing . Gigged it last night and was really happy , all the presets I made worked wonderfully , I'm in effects heaven.
I think there is a V3 software update on it's way before too long. Did they announce anything at Musikmesse?
No idea what version my is running, but Ive decided not to plug it into the PC until after this weekends gig , when I have some time to bugger around if things don't sync well.

Markbass head and cabs have kept me happy for a few years now

Arghh Markbass 210 or 410 as extension to Lm3+102
lojo replied to citymariner's topic in Amps and Cabs
I've used 2x210 mark bass cabs for a few years now and am really happy with it . -
I just brough some fender medium lights 45-100 for £14.99 , wish I'd got them before the hike

Why do we have to put up with bass bass sound at larger venues?
lojo replied to jazzyvee's topic in General Discussion
Went to see the illegal eagles at GLive the other week , fairly modern smallish concert hall, couldn't hear a note the bassist played . Was a shame as the band and singing where great , it lacked the heart beat . -
A limiter pedal and a slight adjust of the tone on my P bass allowed me to switch between the 2 in covers sets.
-
Ive a maple and a rosewood necked P bass , Ive gigged both basses with the same pick up, no obvious difference to me, and surely if there is any minor difference , measuring it by a twist on a tone dial its going to be a minute adjustment surely ? Also as others have said the string is on the fret and the bridge Im also always puzzled by tone woods and bodies etc, as my hohner B2 with hardly any body can punch out tones just as my precision does. Isn't it 99% metal influnced (strings, coils, pots, and wiring etc)

It's brand new

This amp is not going back, I've now got it in a rack case for safety. Played through our set last night and it's incredible , literally changing amps, multiple effects and Eqs at the touch of a button with the user presets. Will add to the review soon as I gain more experience with it's functionality.

I got asked to play bass in the local church a few years back (hillsong type stuff), it was a busy service aimed at the teens and 20s (Im in my 40s) but I agreed and I must admit quite enjoyed it (I dont consider myself a christian btw) Anyway the leader used to send youtube links for each song we would do that week, everyone else read except me, so I just used to spend a few hours jamming along or learning structures, it worked really well. Perhaps you could speak to the band leader about giving you more info ?

The buyer was silly to trust someone with that much money who had not established himself as a posting member , but I do feel very sorry for them.
My main struggle is getting the MIDI control set up, as I want to use my Softstep to control both the MA and my digital desk, but it's currently beyond me! I've got it happily doing stuff for each, but when both plugged in, a program change on the MultiAmp is also making channel faders move on the desk... gah!
GAK where recommending the softstep as a control, so someone somewhere must have info on using it effectively? Ive decided to wait to see what the markbass one does and how much it is, as I can live with a different user preset for each song, which is easy to change, only issue is to get volume levels in each sound fairly correct. Its certainly a lot of fun, but there is a serious lack of information around.

Ive been playing around with the amp over the weekend and used it in a session on sunday to great effect, along with some basic valve amp emulation and some subtle grit for a basic sound I also did the following (though it took a few hours of tweaking to get them) Synth - managed to get it tracking well enough to play some 8th notes lines, it sounded good with the band. Just need to make sure your left hand emulates the "off" between each note, at least for the sounds I wanted. Octave - needed an almost percussive synth type sound, again for 8th notes, a subtle octave and killing the character of the bass worked really well Chorus - for fretless type sounds, again this was really impressive Only had a few hours on it , so if I assume the sounds can be improved on then this is a really great piece of kit. I could do a review , im not a pro, just a weekend functions player, but perhaps I could write a review after my first gig with it, if doing it from my level is going to be of any interest to anyone ?
