Yep, the synths used on the songs I'm doing all vary, but I think a few keyboard ones would be ok and give more variation to the set over all electric bass, especially now I know I can't get anything I'd be happy with effects wise, not heard one clip get close (though the micro synth and octave pedal did ok) I think I'll just carry as I am for now, the songs still work wonderfully, and look into a small keyboard bass synth (though keytar would really suit this band) When I do get it sorted, I'll surprise the band Thanks for all the thoughts, I hope the thread can still running discussing attempts to try , and keys sounds I'm off to keyschat

My old classic rock band gig once every 2 weeks but travel to Sussex / Brighton area as there seems to be more of a scene there, but I'm only talking pubs, clubs etc. but they seem to have fun. Other than that all I know is where I live (surrey) that private functions are the only way to get paid well , there's no scene to speak of Pubs that have regular band nights aren't always packed or buzzing Have no idea about the rest of the country. An established function band would be your best bet I think. Good luck with the move , I'm thinking of doing the opposite relocation

Thanks for the replies everyone, I had no idea that there is no pedal that can do this effectively, definite gap in the market there. I might even end up with a keytar.
Remember the bass player's mantra 'Nobody notices the bass player unless he catches fire'.
And no one notices the bass line until its not there (because its what makes everyone else sound good)
Answered your own question there, I think
Your right, you've really got to want this specifically to pay that, I doubt you'd get more than half back second hand if you went off it.

Your not mad, your just like the bass, but id have thought you where if you posted this instead .... "The Fender Adam Clayton model. Is it the colour? Matching headstock? Blocks? Butterbean tuners? It's £1467 from GAK. Why do I want it? Am I mad? I like U2. What do you people think?"

Ive experienced blissful democracy in an band , but it seems like its a rare thing which only happens when the stars are aligned, I haven't found it on many other occasions, which is frustrating when I know it can. Think every situation is different , people, skills, goals, attitudes, tastes etc , no one approach fits all. I guess being in a band is a relationship 3, 4, 5, ways
There arent really any shortcuts to this.
Ok, thanks, thought this would like buying a chorus or flanger, but I guessed wrong. Not heard any demos of synths giving the sound im after, just odd synth sounds
Akai Deep Impact. Or don't believe the hype and try the Digitech, Boss, korg, ehx, or any other brands. I could go into it the nuances and subjective elements of sound but I just didn't have the time.
Thanks, was just hoping for an off the shelf recommendation as wish to get one quickly , Akai out on availability and assumed price. Not sure if this is an ok thing to ask or not.

Could anyone recommend a good simple pedal to produce an 80s synth bass sound Think, Madonna , Tiffany, Flashdance etc I know it's a bit of a lazy question , but I don't have a lot of time and just want to grab one without researching it to death as I do with most things Thanks kind people
I think there's no question of whether this one was conscious or not. In a May 2013 interview Thicke said:
Oh dear

Are there any rules to determine this kind of thing , like chord progression / factors for drum beats / melodys etc ? If it's purely subjective , then it's all based on jury's opinion (and maybe love of a particular artist) and the amount of money the defendant has , as surely you can't sue without being worried about losing ?
Every thrwad on this tired website is eventually OT these days. Used to be a bass forum, now pretty much a bunch of bored folks looking for an argument as far as I can tell? Anyway, back on topic, web is how things are done theses days, no ones making anyone watch her, she's no doubt better than 99% of BC members, and whilst I can play s lot of parts, if I were in stage with JK I'd probably make a balls up of it also.
this. The girl has posted her playing which i'm sure she is proud of, but understands she's still learning. If you are of less ability then it can inspire, if you are better, then you know what it takes and don't need to put her down.

I'm no theory guy, but if you know all the notes on the fretboard and the notes and shapes in your songs , you can move any song around. Some will need rearranging as you'll run out of neck and some won't sound right when going high instead of low. I'm also discovering the joys of 5 strings, even for songs which work on a 4 , I find myself using the B 5th fret upward a lot instead of going down for the lower notes on the E

I think he is more entertaining as a commentator than a musician , I find his comments amusing , and I don't think he takes himself as seriously as the guy we think we love to hate. It's mostly a continuation of the Blur thing, and it gets all parties talked about. James blunt , I'd not go to concert , but I'd listen to a live performance of his comical wit

I think this is a great discussion , and Blue , although I wish you could see what we mean by "everyone having thier Beatles". Its not disrespecting the Beatles, the phrase actually honours them (we could say everyone has thier "Elvis") I also like your passion for the fab 4 it reminds me when I started work there was a guy there who could not except that people where not clued up on John Wayne, and that every actor since is merely playing at it. No mention of the Beach Boys yet ?

The Beatles where truly and utterly amazing on every level, but I think some go to far in elevating them to being the creators of all things modern about music. Someone once said ...
