1. One of the jobbing pro musicians I spoke to in the last few years went on tour with a formally successful rock front mans new project, he told me he did quite well as the crowd peppered them with coins that he collected from round his drum kit.
2. I've always thought unless your doing some fairly big gigs with established artists that an average pro musician is a similar life to that of a tradesman , no promises , no sick pay etc.
3. You don't have to be in any band you don't want to be in, only thing I think is that if anyone leaves a band it should be done in such a way that you honour any commitments that you agreed when they where booked or make sure a new player is in place.
4. Congrats , that looks like a labour of love , nice one Now all you need to do is puncture your drivers
5. My issue or endless chase is not so much as to what bass covers all the basses, its that you can only have flats or rounds (please don't mention 1/2 rounds )
6.
absolutely incredible synth bass line by Stevie imo.. ok its not on the electric bass, but a bass line is a bass line. the changing between chords are fantastic. and his voice is just incredible. this is not an easy bassline to play on a 4 string.
Add to that he most likely can play the chords, the baseline and sing it live as good as the recording all at once
7. I though DK requested strings in thanks for his free videos , he must have loads of em
8. I guess it's possible to get Alright now, highway to hell and honky tonk woman on a set list
9. Sadly I don't have any pictures of the first 2 basses I had
10. Nice to see a thread about simply enjoying life , best wishes for the future
11. Where's Ashes ? If you emulate some of the Mark Plati live versions , the line is great fun Hope to see you live one day
12. Orange - no contest but Mark bass is lighter
13.
Radio 2 has become ( amongst other stations) so bland and mainstream that anyone who comes along and has some passion seems like a breath of fresh air. When I say "mainstream" I know it is national radio but Ken Bruce joshing Sally about the travel is hardly gripping listening..
I know what you mean , but I like the routine of 2 during the day , easy to follow during work, pop master and vine etc As the thread title , Craig Charles is a great Dj , I play his compilations on spotify. He started out on I'm a celeb (watched it with my kids) but left through a death in the family, seemed like a really genuinely nice bloke
14. Just had a scan through, will play some in full later, some genres hit my taste, but there's also some unique invention , enjoyable
15. Spotify is like getting your first dishwasher , until you've lived with it you'll not know how much you'll love it.
16.
I remember that awesome trombone solo at the end too. Cracking song.
It's one of the reasons were giving it a go
17.
Amazing how much faith people seem to be putting into streaming services. I'll always be able to listen to the music I have on vinyl and CD as long as I have something to play them on. If my favourite artist decides to pull their music from Spotify then it's gone and you want to be able to listen to it again. If you haven't downloaded the tracks using one of the paid for accounts then you are totally dependent upon having a network connection to be able to listen. Also Spotify won't be around forever. Something better/different will come along and then you'll have to start all over again building up your playlists/collections.
Im not sure there is much faith required, if streaming stopped tomorrow, Id move on to the next thing or go and buy some CDs next few months on spotify are 99p as I opened a new account from my wife's Facebook
18. That's more Duck Dunn than a Duck Dunn
19. Found this on a google search whilst looking for clips, really struggling to get the muting right on the consistent D's , can certainly play it well enough to gig, but it's one of those parts I really want to get nailed as the record?
20. Now you've got to down bottle everyday also and still play spot on to pull it off
