1. Drummer treats his fans ok , but he ought to clean the blades every now and then , they get dusty
2. I had one of these, fantastic bass for the money, sold it to mate who wanted it and regreted doing so
3. Where they all the same bass, how do you know it wasn't a bad bass making a good player sound bad, and a good bass making a bad player sound good
4. Can't help but your local to me so is be interested to know who and what you are planning to record if you have any thing planned yet?
5. First 2 albums where amazing. "All you do is dial" one of my favourite slowish tracks
6. Ive never owned a bass worth more than £1250 second hand, but I would happily invest any amount of money into a bass if I liked it and was sure Id recover almost all of it when I wished. However, I would not take a bass to a pub gig that I wasn't prepared to ding.
7. Bass on its own rarely sounds great to me, even when the greats play, it comes alive in a band situation.
8. Ive got a picture of myself, i'm playing a Fender with a music stand in use. Should I hand myself in , or wait till they come?
9.
I was 45 before I played Mustang Sally
Thats a lot of time to prepare, how'd it go ?
10.
I can do a couple of hours before my brain won't take any more in. And I'm sorry but music stands on a stage ARE lame. Who wants to see some guy reading dots at a gig? If you're reading off a sheet you aren't in the moment of communicating music with other humans.
Isn't there a thread on this topic?
11. If your a varied covers band and the blokes are getting into it then a ska / two tone classic
12. Im not a luthier, but as a apprenticed served joiner and a life long bass player, I think it is fair to say you could separate the woodworking skills, from the set ups and electronic work which seems to be where you already have some skill. Perhaps you could hone your set up and electronic skills and start offering this kind of service, whilst you are looking into learning the wood skills (which don't come over night) Good luck, if I knew a local guy just starting out who could set up and maintain my basses, Id consider it, I can do it, but I rush it as Ive never got the time
13. What kind of music do you play?
14.
What's to be guilty about?
Exactly , Karen Carpenters vocals where beautiful, and so where most of the songs.
15. So many epic bass lines, Nice n Sleazy and solo in Walk on by , Heroes, Hanging Around, Something Better Change, the list goes on and they are all brilliant and as good as each other. Totally unique bass player, which is a difficult thing to be, whilst producing something that actually works well. Best Stranglers moment (non musical) "we hate playing to elitist audiences, so **** off" , proper social comment at the time
16. Markbass 210 combo £550 VM P bass £ 175 Some upgraded pick ups £75 Total cost £ 800 , not looked for a tuner, but Id hope to get a tuner and still have change http://basschat.co.uk/topic/252502-markbass-2-x-10-combo-mk2/ http://basschat.co.uk/topic/252525-vintage-modified-squire-precision-l175-delivered/ http://basschat.co.uk/topic/250450-fender-usa-select-series-precision-bass-pickups/
17.
Scenario is: you have a gig tomorrow and no kit
Surely I can borrow the headliners rig and bass ?
18. I use 2 x 210s apart from it being equal to 410 the 2 x 210 for me are also that they are easy to carry and one on top of the other gives me 2 of the 210s at a decent monitor level I did use a 212 on its own for a while, but even placed on its side its not the same as my 2 x 210
19. Live music is like sport , most of the time you can guess what will happen, but sometimes its 10 times better or 10 times worse than what you expect, its part of the beauty of it.
20. Best Wishes with this Playing with Lindisfarne must be a high, the FOTT album must be in my top 10 , absolutely love it.
21.
His daughter Mollie has a decent set of lungs too.
Yes, I heard her sing with the Jones Gang, had not heard of her before that. I played Ogdens Nut Gone Flake to death when I was a late teen , then got into Humble Pie, so would love to see this film
22.
not all bands like a really loud present bass.
Do you mean Guitarists not Bands ?
23. Remember it's not only them auditioning you, you are also auditioning them
