1.
I play mainly pubs, I prefer the sound my rig gets out front than the PA can get
What amp you using ? Can you DI out of your amp and trickle a bit into the PA and use your cabinet at lower volume, although in Pubs I find my rig fills the pub without needing PA support and at a volume which is not overbearing amongst the band.
So I'm trying having my barefaced super 12T in line with the PA tops ( in front of Me )
Sounds like a construction job if you PA tops are on stands -- You'll find that your bass doesn't need to be so loud to fill the pub, its generally the guitar that doesn't carry to the back of a pub from a cabinet IME

Cheers guys Its the equipment or software I'm looking for inspiration with, I'm looking to do more than just play one track after another, but the last time I used 2 decks , they actually went round (late 80s)

Anyone doing this or offering it alongside your functions band ? If so what is your set up ?
7. Only £50 difference in the new price for these , anyone give any thoughts, the 500s have plenty of power but for an extra 10% in cost is it worth getting the extra headroom? Any other differences in these Amps? I use 2 x 210 cabs
8. What a great looking bass, also love the logo.
9. My CIJ 62RI does anything you want from a p bass IMO
10. I was at that gig , front row seat, after show pass (was gonna meet jerry) but I walked out when I saw the sheet.
11.
I use a music stand there to because I don't know any tunes
We have a winner for the most honest statement in this thread
12.
It's Jazz.....surely they're not needed as the notes can be played in any order
But happens if they all play them in the same order, would that then be New Orleans and not as advertised.
13. How is a theme about Poverty, Violence, Drugs etc. not relevant today ? The only thing thats changed IMO is yes "The revolution will not be televised" but it will be on Facebook.
14. Doesn't state if you can use music stands or not
15. What about all those guys who spend 2k on a red P bass Pino?
16. Saw them live in the early days and thought he was great, and whenever Ive had to cover them, the lines never bore me. Think he was an important ingredient in the Blur sound, unlike Oasis at the time, Blur where very bass driven, which made them exciting to me. Need to try some of his cheese
17. What about some of the amps and equipment he built (not sure if it's true or not)?
18. Next gig I do where the singer wants to use a few cheat sheets, I will inform them of my cunning plan Hide the stand and bring it out after the first number, that way people will be fooled and not walk out upon seeing the stand How cunning is that eh ?
19. First thing you do is listen a lot and learn loads of covers. There's obviously going to be strong opinions as to what is ska and reggae but start off with mainstream two tone (specials) and some Marley.
20. Can't beat a 70s cop show for the show and the theme tune
21. Saw a guy close his eyes once at a gig He tripped over a music stand
22.
This will never do, a bass chat thread that is completely resolved without an argument?
ok, I'll start one, who needs a guide to get gigs, if your good enough the gigs will come and find you, if they don't your not good enough, so take the hint !!! Seriously though, I'd be interested in reading the document, thanks
23. I haven't got it , but was there a section about music stands ?
24.
If someone would have told me thirty years ago, that one day the contents of all of my records and cassettes will fit on a device the size of a cigarette box - they've have described a beta version of the iPod and I'd have laughed at them
True, theres a great bit in a show (star trek I think) where they are in a museum in the future , there is a large 50s juke box that gets called an iPod, which in the great scheme of things time wise (only 40 years) its not that far out.
