1.
Bowie - Let's Dance
Did it recently, loved it, with a bit of brass also, though I wish I had an octave pedal for that song, seems to please to musical members of the crowd, but not really a great crowd pleaser if your talking an average party crowd.
2. I'm Amazed anything with more than one person involved works, but when you least expect it it does You have an album , that's a great achievement Good luck to your mates and hope you get to gig soon
3.
Ramble On. Don't have to explain why...do I?
Rebel
4. As the title suggests, lets assume your singers and band could pull off anything, what song would you love to cover live ?
5. Im sure we could all search and find threads to support the bassist part, but not sure re discussions about guitarists (think there was one thread recently about a bassist playing with a named guitarist)
6.
I loved the Abbey Road animation though.
plus 1
7. I love Iggy Pops introduction of a guitar solo "Alright doll face, come on and bore me"
8. Tangent but I just remembered when they used to put a key lock on the old telephone dial but the kids used to know how to tap the numbers out to make a call
9. No photos at the mo but it's one of these http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=puY2_cRLMbQ&sns=em I'm only considering shifting it for a five string at the mo, not definate but thought it worth mentioning.
10. I've got a natural/maple PB70US which is a bit special I'd consider trading ?
11. A while back , I did a classic rock pub gig and we all used 3/4 kids guitars and basses for a laugh and to show the kids that the axes where good enough, the place was rocking and the the band played well, no complaints about not using our real fender Ps, strats or Sgs
12. What I find amazing is that Ive never seen this topic come up before, whilst we have enjoyably discussed the pros and cons of just about everything else that doesn't matter.
13.
Hi, thanks for the offer but the Hohner isn't for me. Cheers Dunc
Shame, its got the right amount of frets Id take £265 for it to get this , but good luck
14.
Flats and rounds are the reason I always have two basses, so I can have both.
yes, but which bass do you take with you ?
15. just checked iTunes and the only u2 songs in mine are the ones have had to cover for various reasons. Bono , stay off my iTunes and Radio , unless its those songs you did with Clannad or BB King, they where pretty good.
16. It's funny , and maybe a uk thing, but the people I know who are the most serious about thier music (knowledge, massive collections, constant gig going, new artist discovery etc) are people who don't actually play and never attempt to.
17. Please can you pm me? For some reason starting mps on my phone has issues but replying to existing ones is ok Thanks
18. As Lozz said , I'd be happy either side of the fold back for this gig Played many of those tunes before they are all great fun
19. thought this was a long shot , but thanks to the 56 people who had a look
20. Great stuff, yep know the songs inside out and be the one everyone can look too
21. This section from the interview should be posted whenever anyone asks "should I quit my pub band due to it being full of nobs" PM: It was never an issue that you don't read music? LP: "Not at all. We had six weeks of rehearsal before the first gig, so it was not a problem. Mike Stevens is basically looking for people who can play and are into what they're doing, but are also easy to get on with. That's the key when you're touring; just be a nice chap and have a good vibe about you. That's the way to get work. If you're a superb player, but a pain in the arse, you'll never get asked. The world is full of phenomenal musicians who are so up themselves that they are really difficult to be around. Being on the road with difficult people is really draining.
22. Need to find a guitar / trumpet mariachi duo for a party in surrey (8th nov) , anyone have any contacts I could pass on ?
23.
Why would the fact that he used to be a bass player mean he's not a dick? There are just a many dicks playing bass as there are playing any other instrument. He might not have had any rhythm or groove because he was a sh*t bass player before he was a sh*t guitarist. Just because he played for 15 years doesn't automatically mean he was any good at it.
^ This proberly sums it
