1. Well done Lee, hope he sticks with it , no pun intended At the end of my sons first hour drum lesson, he was playing a straight rhythm , the teacher then said "well done you now the basics for 99% of all pop songs"
2. "Fight for your right to party" , doing soon at a wedding as the last song in what I consider one of the best sets I've been asked to play, horrible way to end a gig for the bassist , but then again it's not about me Played "America" and "she's so lovely" as a dep recently, those 2 songs make me fall asleep mid gig Ah, and "sit down"
3.
Musical chemistry is easier to achieve, it is the band chemistry that is harder.
That is so true
4.
Ooh, good idea, sir - I defy someone to tell me that Run to the Hills and Running Free wouldn't be crowd pleasers!
Ive always wanted to gig "The Trooper"
5. 12 bar rock blues, no singer just a harp and guitar going for it, each song lasted about 20 minutes with no structure
6. Love their take on "long time gone"
7. My Fav Police track, I love em. There is a member on here in a tribute which I want to see sometime ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=55xaWhhT98E
8. I want this neck if anyone is interested in splitting the deal with me?
9. Is the bass playing slot job meeting Gender Equality rules each time there is an opening in that band ?
10. Thanks for the replies, I've had them on a while now, and the E and A really do thump though my mark bass, but the D and G sound really dead in the mix.
11. Nice work A Daily Mail bass would surely be a big hit on here
12. Its a good song, but not as good as the Pino Colada song, which is amazing and clever
13. When I uses to do originals at the hobby level as you say I was just the bass player, but I'd often be the one making suggestions that got used regarding arrangements etc. Sounds like you should try to work on a song / arrangement of your own and have some input if it's something you are looking for Nothing wrong with just playing bass, but you have to be really into what your playing on in my experience
14. Chesney Hawks Hawkwind in the modern day as they where there at the start I believe
15.
Most are of a good standard and have an impressive cv and qualifications from significant colleges, yet some do just don't cut it and swing like a concrete lamp post
Musical qualifications are very much like any trade paper, yes the person in question will have a lot of technical knowledge, but it won't tell you if a carpenter or bricklayer has a good eye for detail.
16. Different bands have different requirements , and as someone said above, it's all about chemistry. One band I play with currently requires a fair bit of work, but we've got it down so that vocal harmonies and guitar/keys roles when trying to cover a song which has multiple instruments in the recording are sorted in someone's house before drums and bass are added for run throughs in a rehearsal room. I could never be in a band that isn't ready to add a rhythm section any more , to old and to busy.
17. Could anyone point me to a thread or resource about the different precision necks? Or start posting info on this thread I've currently got 2 P basses , and been through a fair few over the years, there is not a neck I haven't got on with but I've never understood the terminology used for different necks. All I know is my 62RI has a slimmer neck than my PB70US
18. Ive done some charity gigs which have been fantastic fun, and some that have not, but arguably there was a decent amount of money raised, so I suppose thats fine, as I thats why we agree to help So I guess the question is, did they raise a decent amount to make your effort worthwhile, by the look of the tarpaulins, I think I know the answer, but I hope I'm wrong?
19. Ok thanks everyone, I'm going to put them on a P bass and try them out tonight, was considering buying some La Bella flats, but these found in my bits box might hit the spot.
20. Sorry thought I was clicking on a thread about Rooney
21. If you do stock a sonic blue fender with matching headstock, I'd better stay away from your shop
22.
What kind of blue? Both Ernie Ball flats and D'Adarrio Chromes have blue silks (royal blue, not light blue or navy), and the Chromes have multi-coloured balls.
Thanks , the balls are coloured (green, black, gold, red) and the blue wrap is neither light or dark.
