1. Martin Kemp, assuming "more successful" is not just in music
2.
Wonder, if it does happen, will they go for the last line-up, or the "classic" line-up - as in, when they were massive in `96?
The guy from Rides quite a good bass player, but I'm sure a few on here would do a great job for 90% less wages
3. I'll not knock the fact that the P bass is the standard and the best sounding bass Or that the Jazz whilst different is also an amazing must have instrument But "U2" , really ? seriously though it's nice when music gets you as described by the Op
4. Go for it and don't feel pressured to upgrade it any time soon
5. They may have gone through a few bassists who overplay on top of playing badly
6. Way above my intellect and class, but it sounds like you are enjoying yourself and learning loads, long may it continue for you.
7. The only thing that annoys me about the ban (which I understand and support) is that removing genuine Rics from the 2nd hand market may mean a few people maybe more tempted to buy new Rics, which is a another victory for them. An authentic second hand Ric market on here will ensure hopefully no more money from BCters given to them, sort of a meaningless vito
8.
No brainer for me: The Pat Metheny Group.
Not Van Morrison ?
9. Unless it's a wedding or similar dress function, anything goes as long as you finish it of with a pair of crocs
10. Im pretty much a P bass man, but Ive always fancied a RIc, so I brought one for £1250, gigged it a few times over a year, then sold it for £1200, I will a some point do a 5 string purchase, and have a few other basses Id like to road test at some point, all of which I may get on with or not. Im not someone who can play a bass in a shop and know if its for me, I need to gig it a few times. The 2nd hand market allows me to do that without risk. Having said all the above, if I'm still alive in 20 years time, I bet my 3TS 62RI P will still be my main bass
11.
Anyone found a YouTube clip of this fabled moment of auditory nirvana? BTW a friend's son is studying audio engineering and had the opportunity to listen to the original masters (imported into ProTools) from Marvin Gaye's I Heard It through The Grapevine. Apparently a student submitting that work would have failed, as the individual instruments were so 'badly' recorded.
That's makes a mockery of the whole collage course then, it's like an engineer once told me technically a bumble bee shouldn't be able to fly
12. I could play you inconic lines on request, like rhythm stick through to rio and what's going on, but I could only tell you the basics of the scales involved. That's why a call myself a bass player and not a musician.
13. Music is communicated in many ways, and ways in the future that we haven't even thought of yet. I can date back what your saying to a band who where very big in the late 80s, at least the records where, when saw them live they where awful and had no idea, but what they did in a studio really rocked my boat. Personally I love gigging, and I love gigs , namely small ones, not overproduced big venue type gigs, but everyone is different.
14. There where people sitting having lunch in the park, I believe that its called al fresco - Lily Allen , Oh why Oh Why -- Silver people on the shoreline , let us be ...
15. Just remember if you go to any auditions, you are also auditioning them ! Good luck
16. Went to a local pub gig on saturday and a couple where having a barny in the entrance lobby, apparently they where the local church choir leaders (though that maybe rubbish), rather Father Ted like Totally unconnected I know, Good luck, hope you enjoy it
17. Good luck to whoever brought this, I committed to buy as soon as a saw the thread, but was too late If you don't get on with it for some reason, give me a shout please
18. Very happy with my current MarkBass cabs , but this looks like a tempting monster.
19. I think GAS when connected to a 2nd hand market that almost allows you to rent whatever bass or amp you desire is fine Its only when buying new that we should be aware that it is going to be unrecoverable money spent , and the any rash purchase is like throwing money away, meaning your GAS is out of control
20. Ah, I heard a bit of badge on radio 2 earlier, and wondered why they where playing something like that (i like the song) , now I know
21. Last 5th second forever ,hash cake 77 and who's gonna win the war
