1. judging by the interests in your sig, bass modifying is not the place where you have the most savings to be made
2. As far as covers go, I have a policy that I wont go into a rehearsal studio with the full band, unless everyone has done their homework, fortunately with my current band, the 2 singers (3 if you include BVs) even get together without the rhythm section to sort parts / harmonies, also the guitarist and keyboard player do a lot of "who's covering what" stuff also. It works wonderfully, but I know I am lucky. My only other gigs are deps, so its similar slotting in also Couldn't go back to "whats the chords please" sessions, its just not worth it Of course thats the beauty of a covers band -- Id suggest you suggest the above approach to the band before giving up and give them a chance to get into it, that is of course if you think its worth it
3.
+1 - my B2A has an XLR output and I've never used it either!
same here
4. I revived this thread as I have a PB70 US incoming If anyone has anymore info re the pickups I'd be interested ? I'm hoping it will sound like a us vintage pickup should, but if not I'll rob the wizard from my other p
5. When you get angry , which hand do you punch things with ?
6. This may have been mentioned , but if you can get the core band up and running with structures, then attracting good brass players to join in on already established material might be easier ?
7.
Me too, can't stand it.
Whilst I agree, not a track Id listen to at home, but last time I gigged this, the reaction of the partygoers made it so much fun, it was worth it. I guess if your the kind who wants to only play music that you consider cool, then a functions band of this type is not for you, personally I like playing to party atmospheres though.
8. Love the fact he plays round wounds and gets a tone like flats Been gigging a few of his lines, real fun to play.
9. So an illegal without a passport or papers has managed to buy a high spec weapon
10. ha, funny, Yes I made 500 mp3 player boxes for CDs (bath music) to be sold on the counter of shops around europe, I charged £25 each, saw the client a few months later and he said they where getting them done in china now for £2 each !
11. Unless there is a pre determined image, like you are a triune band trying to look like certain people, then I'd say anything goes that the bassist is happy with I can't see why you couldn't take a fan fretted bass to a bluegrass or folk gig, it maybe pushing the boundary, but if you play it well you can achieve that and deflect any comments Personally I just love classic fender looks, but I'm now getting into my hohner b2a I have been told by previous bandmembers I should not wear X or play X but they had no right to inforce anything.
12. Yep, I have brought and sold them between 400 and 450
13. Some very horrid looking instruments in there, never seen one of those early Rics
14.
What would Jack Bruce say.....
he say thats total ********
15.
Having just watched the whole programme
Mate respect Jokes aside , I do always scan through all the acts, every now and then something grabs me.
16.
Because you simply dont like it, thats OK. Some people do like it, thats OK too. Neither require rationalisation.
Statements like that could kill off basschat , be careful
17.
We have a lazy can't be arsed society. Jazz requires effort and mental stretching so fuuck it let's go with xfactor. Same reason mcdonalds is popular ......lazy society.
I get what your trying to say about us as a society on a whole, but I don't agree Jazz requires "Mental Stretching" to enjoy, or I most likely wouldn't enjoy it. Playing it is of course another matter.
18. The singer did seem slightly contrived, but who knows maybe not Occasionally who get a young band on there who seem themselves, last one I remember was Yuck, who I quite enjoy.
19. the line 6 g30 looks good, anyone got one?
