1.
Life can sometimes get a bit short to be pedantic. Arguing with a guitarist that the run is E F# G# A and not E F# Ab A is not always a productive use of practice time. Shrug play the notes and move on
I'm an uneducated player, but I find arguing about chords annoying and a complete waste of time, at least for covers, everyone should do thier homework before a run through, regardless if you can read or not. So unless you decide to change key during a session there should be no conversation in an ideal world.
2.
One of the helicopters I regularly used to fly - a Bell JetRanger - had an ashtray in it. It always felt a bit surreal. Here it is. Ashtray is just below the transponder (just underneath the collective as you look at the photo). CB
That's cool If you'd have been trying to explain what the transponder and collective was, would you have said they are just above the ashtray
3. Whenever these topics come up I post this, perfect line, and use of fills, couldn't be simpler http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=2xwL-7fKKUE
4.
One day, the Beatles will go away. Sadly not in my lifetime but...
I think guitar, bass and drum based pop/rock will have to seriously decline in popularity before that happens.
5. A recent gig I did , the shoe ended up on the other foot, the main guitarists amp failed (brand new black star) took 5 mins to get him back online through the pa only and he'd lost much of the control over his sound, rest of set was awful as everything built around him (I was deping) but no one offered , other bands where in the wings etc, and we didn't ask, Just think if we saw this happen to another band we would have offered
6. If the general public notice the bass players line, it's either really really good or really really bad
7. I'm sure Lemmy would agree with most things said in this thread
8. I'd have this off your hands in a flash, but I don't want it really
9. Thanks, some interesting ideas Jury's still out, gonna put the bass together unpainted and see how it goes, then decide what to do.
10. Just to add, I acquired the neck without a body, so it can't ever be sold as part of an original USA p bass
11. How fast is the neck, is it faster than a mij p , they are too fast
12. Nearly at a stage where my p/j build body can be sprayed, I really want the head on the neck to be coloured the same, but it will involve ruining a perfectly good USA fender headstock logo etc. Should I do it ?
13. Started striping the body, will do 10mins a day, seems to be alder or similar, nice start
14. Tempted to jump in just for the sake, but think they should go to someone who really wants this type of string Nice gesture Conan
15. Felpsy, please could you send me a pm Can reply once a messaging conversation has started, but for some reason there is a bug when I try to start one Thanks
16. Had some friends play as we walked up the isle , sax, keys, guitar and conga Then after the vows, I joined in on bass to play "your the best thing" Gladys Knight, whilst my wife stood there (had a female friend sing it) All went well, though playing in front of a crowd full of friends and family after the ceremony was slightly different to a normal gig Wouldnt think playing in a band at your own reception would be a good Idea, at least for me, but might suit others
17. Hi Finally have enough parts to start my p/j build , any comments/tips very welcome.. So far I have ... fender neck USA with tuners , rosewood Body, that will be stripped of its black paint, and the battery compartment pieced in Badass ii bridge (incoming) Kiogon wiring loom, 2xV/T stacked pots to keep the oringal p bass configuration and look (incoming) To source still ... Wizard P/J big set Nice white pick guard My intentions ... To strip the body and finish it in a similar colour to sonic blue Possibly make the headstock of the neck the same colour (effectively ruining a good fender head and logo), not worried about replacing the logo if I do this, as the bass is for playing. Electronics as listed above, totally passive, simple vol/tone for each pick up If all works out, this will hopefully become my main bass, as I'm more than happy with a P, but this will have the extra neck pup which I'm sure I'll make use of What could possible go wrong
18. Hi I'd like to take the bridge please, will pm you later, can't start a pm on my iPad for some reason
19. I think right up to and throughout the 80s and early 90s there where lots of original ideas and original takes on existing music, even in the mainstream Now not so much, its all nonsense. If you ask my daughter and son about modern music, they will say alot of it is great So it could just be my age limiting me from hearing new things, and when I do like a new young band, its generally because they are similar to something I used to like (yuck or the horrors are a good example of that)
20. Most the bands I've been in I thought were great Cassettes since have proved me wrong
21. Thanks guys Got the irig, now trying out different apps
22.
Yes, I've had a few like this, it's bloody annoying, my time is valuable and I do not like people wasting it. But every actual transaction I've had on BC has been excellent.
This is pretty much my experience also
