1. Some great duck dunn lines, the music generally means it will be a fun crowd booking you, great gig IMO
2.
Capri orange looks very cool
yeah its lovely , reminds me of my vw camper
3. I love this line, key players got the arpegiater thingy sussed as well which helps
4. I think it should be as in test driven cars, regardless if it will end up the same within a few days/gigs etc. It should not be sold as new, but rather demo model with a discount Only exception with a guitar to this I see, would be if you say you want X model, and the shop says, I only have the one on the wall in stock mate, take it or leave it at retail mate. Then its up to you But if they've new stock they could offer you, or didn't inform you it was a demo and you agreed to pay the full price regardless, then thats not on.
5.
Been asked to do some Oasis stuff for an upcoming Christmas party, and had a listen to that album just now, and the bass totally sucks. Theres some nice chord work going on here in some numbers giving the opportunity for some nice crafted lines. Instead all we get are rooted chords, which leads me to believe that a guitarist played bass on the album, as this is typical of guitarists who pick up a bass. I cant believe a bass player couldnt string together a few passing notes.
Ive not read the thread so this may have already been said but .. Andy bell later played bass with them and he is a fantastic guitar player, YouTube some live stuff from the album in question with him playing bass and I'd bet you'll hear some lovely extras, I could be wrong though, sometimes basic playing is what is needed.
6. Ok I'll start bidding £1 Seriously though lovely instrument, good luck
7.
Here and Now supported Gong in Liverpool a few weeks ago, it was Enochian Theory in London (I really enjoyed them and bought the album). Keith Tha Bass is on Facebook and every morning he does a charming little reflection on the weather He's still playing with Here and Now.
Great ill check them out, always remember loving an album with him on it.
8. Silly love songs , it came later with wings, but its got such a great feel to it, he manages to play this while singing also
9. No they are playing an example of progressive rock from a particular time during its progression
10. Most likely to late to say good luck What are / where the songs?
11. I don't understand this concept, unless your only talking about root note basslines played by someone who couldn't do any more if it was asked Anyway, I always picked out bass when hearing music so wanted to play it
12.
an update... muso songwriter contacts me and wants some upright bass on his latest album, says he's an old pro so i assume he has some respect for his fellow musicians. i assume wrong... studio is 100 mile round trip and theres no food, so bring some grub and here we go... i'm expected to do this for FREE, not even EXPENSES, WTF...
now that's very cheeky and insulting However if he finds someone with the right skills and gear who will do it for nothing for the fun of it, then I've no problem with that if its their choice, but to ask is wrong
13. I used to count my mistakes during a football match, it doesn't help, I certainly wont be trying it during a gig
14. Just play it straight http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PpkHczKcwsQ
15.
Is it just me who doesn't think that 'Rhythm Stick' is the pinnacle of bass playing? Why not try some kind of solo piece? Maybe a standard arranged for solo bass? Or a Bach Cello suite?
I don't think it's the pinnacle , just haven't heard many say playing it well is taking it easy
16.
Last year I took it easy and played Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick,
cocky bstad
17. By Playing along Love Her Madly Kid By listening only, haven't played through yet Love story Price tag
18. Lemmy doesn't often play with his thumb on the back of the neck
19.
Having been both a guitarist and bassist in many different bands, I try to be even handed these days. You may have many different instruments and players of said instruments in your band, but at the end of the day there are only two kinds of people. People you can get along with and make music with, and people who drive you f*cking crazy.
thats pretty much it
20. I've only just met my real mum this year, and found out my dad died at 50 before i met him, if I had id tell him he owes me a 69 Precision ! OP, great idea, wish Id thought of that for my kids
21. Its a good job the people I play with mainly choose to cover old songs Last night, someone made a comment we where actually doing a song thats in the chart off our new list, it does have bass, all be it only 4 notes
22. I'm interested in how the Pf500 is through one of these cabs?
23. I'm glad about this thread, so many people make silly comments dismissing how good he was (is?) And if you came up with the early stuff now it would still be amazing, but he did it back when there was far less history of pop to draw on
