1. I've got a couple of songs on cassette from years back that I listen too once every few years and truly love and get real pleasure out of hearing, one day I want to record them again with players I know now.
2.
It's the sort of thing that leads people to have a savings account at the same time as a mortgage and getting a warm felling about having, say, £5k in the bank as a 'nest-egg'. Well, that £5k in the savings account would be put to better use by paying off a lump of the mortgage.
Depends on rates and personal situation, if you've 5k in savings that you may need in an emergency then you can get it, if you pay of some Capitol it's a whole load of hassle, expensive and may not be a given to get it back from the mortgage company
3. Whilst I'd be interested in seeing these basses, I'm in the market, I'm not sure how a couple of grands worth of instruments would have a major impact on your plans, unless your debt is very high interest and you can get top dollar for them now. The basses may increase in value you could sell at 60 and have 13 years more fun out if them Having said that a bass is a bass , you can buy and sell at anytime in your life
4. If you play for a living then you are in business providing a service All forms of small bussiness have major forces to contend against to survive A carpenter can complain that someone's handy mate helped fit a kitchen for beer money, causing him to lose the job A printer/graphic designer can complain about modern software and home printers A photographer can complain about hobbyists doing parties and weddings And so on
5. I like depping for working bands as I don't have to commit and get to do a few gigs here and there, so I'd do it if there maybe a few more gigs down the line for a bit more dosh, but if they are established with that set surely ONE rehearsal run through to fit in is all that is needed, I'd not do 4?
6. Has Lozz got the gig? Can we see a link to the band?
7. Did a bee gees song the other night at a run through, thought it would be awful when I saw it on the list, but it was one of those moments where you just smile cause it just sounds so right Re the op , madness songs and the like are real fun, and hats off if you pulled of that blockheads line well
8.
if we can have some photos playing with them...
what exactly does that mean?
9. That's life mate, whatever your into be it basses, cars or fishing, there are always brands out of most peoples current price range Not sure how old you are or where you are in life, but I'm sure one day you will be able to get enough together for a ric, buy 2nd hand and you'll be able to get your cash back if needed In the meantime there are plenty of decent basses for a 5th of the price you state Rickenbacker are a business at the end of the day
10. 69 so I might be cheaper to buy a 96 and turn it upside down Be nice to own one
11. I know a band where the "2nd guitar" is actually the guy who is the rock of the band, the lead guy couldn't function without him Re the ad , that's an odd thing to say, surely it must be meant in jest
12. I try to learn the exact line for most songs, including all variations/fills etc, often I'll listen to live versions on you tube which adds more ideas, and sonetimes gives a better way of playing live over radio versions
13. Perhaps you have been marked as unreliable, which given the circumstances is unfair, but also a little understandable that strangers might conclude this However, ignoring you is unacceptable, and if they think your not the man, for whatever reason, rightly or wrongly, they should at least let you know where you stand
14.
Learning by ear is a relevant point because I get the impression that some people think it's a bummer that the tabs have been removed-but if you spend 5 minutes searching for a (dodgy) tab online, that's 5 minutes that you could have spent learning by ear.
I think it's a bummer they've been taken down, but not because I'd need them to learn the songs
15.
I agree. If by some miracle the tab was 100% correct then the artist / composer could have grounds to have it it removed. Most other tabs are just something to get you started IME.
Can it be deemed infringement due to the title regardless if the content is 100% accurate ? Yep, so rock n roll isn't it
16. Whilst a lot of tab is wrong, I think it's mad for bands to not allow its publication on the Internet, most users and those putting it up will be young bedroom players who are fans of the bands
17. As long as I've always got a good comfortable p bass I'm happy, but it doesn't have to be the one I have currently Still undecided on the stingray I recently got in a trade on here, but that's more because of late p basses seem to win it for me not because the ray is bad, because it's not I may invest in a 70s p , which might end up being more of a long term partner
18. A few gigs back I was enjoying the first handful of songs really digging my tone , then I went forward of the singers fold back, and had my ears hear the out front sound, and my tone was dreadful, really spoilt the rest of the gig for me
19. I totally agree whatever sounds good, however it's made, obviously performance wise it's nice to see playing over button pressing Having said that, whilst I'm a massive fan of electronic music, real bass strings, however much effect is added does seem to make a great deal of difference, in a song full of otherwise totally electronic music Even going back to human league and Tubeway army etc, a real bass just gives it that edge
20. Yep check the thread above But to me it's just other rip off of fender desIgn
21. You"d be gutted if you had just spent nearer the RRP , thats quite a drop MM, one day you'll be one a TV show about people with GAS or great collections of bass related products
22. People shouldn't really play Rock band wii whilst at work, do it in your own time
