1. I would expect it to make a difference due to the string vibrations being more transferable into the body than when strung on a metal bridge, but Ive had both and it's not noticeable There are a lot if other more important factors ahead of this if you make a list
2. Double thread, and it's cheaper on the other Lovely bass though
3. Always loved this track "back in the day" very simple, but even with that such a solid line
4. thought the frets on a precision was where the name came from, so a fretless precision is like 5 string that only has 4 seriously though, shop should really set up their instruments shouldnt they
5.
A nice Precision is like a comfy pair of slippers to me.
That sums it up With the exception that a second hand worn precision is the way to go
6. On the plus you found out something you could achieve if you pushed yourself that maybe you didn't know before You always have to take ads with a pinch of salt, but keep plodding on
7. What a lovely bloke, and how fantastically creative he is Funny how the reading thing always crops up though.
8. Basses are designed to be played, but manufactured and marketed to be sold to anyone for wherever purpose they want to buy it for even if it doesn't include playing it
9. If you rate him from what you already know, and he has promised he has the means to learn the set correctly prior to the gig, then you either trust him or not If the rest of the band are already tight and confident with arrangements then should be fine Perhaps arrange the set with some of the simper stuff for the first few numbers, the drummer might not need it this way, but if it reduces your worry then it's worth it
10. Don't think it will be problem if he doesn't touch a drop but you will have to have a good chat with his guardians to what they expect from you responability wise, which coud be an issue On the plus, he could draw the parents of his teenage friends and their kids out to the venues
11. Really enjoyed that first clip, is it allowed (it's a cover?)
12. Yep, listen to and get structure first Then learn basics, so at least you could get through them all Then work on the frills as best you can Structures I find are the hardest thing at short notice, not so much the lines Oh and do any prominent lines first, save any that are more root based until last
13. Your away on business and your evenings entertainment local to your hotel is .. A. A bar with a neon sign outside saying "girls" B. A bar with a sign saying Neo nazi night C. A bar with "tribute bands night" advertised Which option do you take, not wanting to degrade yourself?
14.
I'm currently touring with a Michael Jackson tribute. The moneys good, the songs are good, the bass lines are good, the crowds are good, the theatres are good. The goods far out weigh the worry of not appealing to bass chatters.
Are you the guy doing the sound in post 1 ?
15. Your to far, but I know loads of teenagers who would snap it up round here Nice one
16. Done em all except the top 2 Currently stuck on general covers as its easily managed
17.
Go for it.Just don't dress up like them to do it.
Why not ? (return to post 1)
18. I stopped playing for 7 years, kept one cheap bass and combo which I leant to a friends daughter, unless it's stuff you think will seriously increase in value as an asset or is sentimental then it's just stuff.
19. What's the difference between a tribute band and another production of Macbeth ?
20. We did this for a few years in an outbuilding in the pub garden , before it got developed Pros Storage (only big stuff, nothing that could easily be carried) Local Free or cheap factoring in gigs (but see cons below) Atmosphere, if people in garden often people put thier heads in , sometimes even people started dancing and turned it into a mini gig Cons You felt obliged to buy beer, and the rounds ended up costing more than a studio slot! If you don't feel obliged to buy beer you may anyway Sometimes friends would turn up and distract from the focus Sound carried , not all the locals liked it
21. My friend runs this http://www.allstudios.co.uk/ I think they get cheap studio time slots advertised on it sometimes
