Made in Japan is pre-1997. Are you sure it's a Geddy?
I also thought that it was pre '97. but it seems it is not: http://www.fender.com/en-RU/support/articles/japanese-instruments-product-dating/ it is 2007-or younger, my guess '10. One thing is for sure - fender got very complex serial number sistem
I don't think the Geddy Lee existed in 1994/5.
Oh, i guess i suck at dating fenders >.< ...And i feel a bit of stupid now ...neck says MIJ and T 035 (cant make out last 3 digs)... EDIT: it seems japanese fenders were running MIJ T series in '94-95 AND '07-10, AND geedy + miller basses ran T series through '11 too... I guess i better go check out fender forums..

A bit of topic hijack, so pardon, but would you guys know how much geddy lee jazz '94-95, MIJ release cost? condition 9.5/10..just wondering if i overpaid

Went through ebay and found out that these exactly same basses go with 2 different names, and 2 different prices... Quite of a red flag, but still GASing..

Oh my, if only i could be that awesome of a bassist...
-
Lets just say anything by Music Man, let it be stingray or sub is out of my budget sadly, i am unemployed student..And also i want to make some little modifications on body, so i do not actually consider buying factory manifactured bass..
-
I do like MM Stingray, BUT price for me is too high. Way too high. So a though hit my mind couple of weeks ago, and up to today i think about it: to build my own ray! Status graphite ray neck, MM replacement pup and mechanics, and myself build high quality ash body. This way i could get ray for its 30-50% of price. Only question is - will it sound like ray? So by chance someone already done something like this? I would really like to hear your opinions

Thanks guys, you made a lot of sence especially Zmech - i do have same symptoms

Hello Basschat, I've been playing bass for a third year, and I came to a point where I am really confused about my posiblities. When I played in a nu-metalish band, I felt like I was average bassist. Maybe even above average. I did not feel/see any flaws in rythm, nor my grooves. However, around 6 months ago I was accepted into jazz/pop band, where all musicians are way better than me(profesionals or studying music) and then I saw how many flaws I have... Even tho I work a lot more, and a lot more sistematicly, I feel less and less capable of a player. It came to the point where I get so nervous/confused that I start to f*** up even most simple 8th note grooves/shuffles... Obviously friend do tell that I'am good, I feel meh at best. So, this is where I need your help basschat- I need side opinion. Here is jam recording: http://soundcloud.co...363/funk-jam-4# I'd like to thank ahead for your opinions and constructive criticism P.S. if you are wondering why I need this reality check - i got money, and dont know if i should spend it on travel/new bass or on bass teacher...

I bought elixir nanoweb strings and my bass came to life. It sounds better than ever- i can say im in love with these strings. However, due to unknown reason B string, which i use rather rarely compared to rest, died really really fast...
-
I'am a guy with rather long fingers, and I play on 5 strings only - what helped me A LOT in slaping a 5string is lowering G string - it gives me easier acsess to D. It might sound stupid, but my slapping improved a lot after i did that that.

Sexy!

I thought bashing guitarist was quite lame, but that was before i started auditioning for bands...

Oi there guys, So my 11 y/o sister asked me to teach her play bass, which is simply awesome. However, as i myself am rather greenish player, and got completely no experience teaching I'd like to ask for tips. I tough her some very simple tunes(happy bday, Mexican hat dance), I know that I have to teach her at least basic theory, technique, but got completely no idea how to approach that. Thanks for help in advance, Maksim

I got Cort action V: comfortable, nice tone, very nice tuners(holds tuning for ages). However needs extra shielding(it got shielded only in a small area). Still for 180 pound tool it is great.
