Hi Barry, Colin from Tralee here. Your best bet would be Miah Lynch (a local courier, dunno if you know him?) He is now a G.L.S. rep and he recently sorted me out with shipping a bass to the UK (for a BC´er) for a very, very reasonable rate (fully insured with track and trace). If you want, I can PM his mobile number and you can get your folks to give him a shout. P.S. How´s Germany treating you? -

15" Bass Driver Wanted - 4 / 8 ohm - 300-400w
basshead56 replied to plyguy's topic in EUB and Double Bass
Wanted: 1 x 15" bass driver to replace a blown peavey BW. Preferably 4ohm, 300-400w but 8ohm considered too. Peavey, Eminence, Celestion etc, something half decent....must be fully working with no issues. Hopefully someone has got one tucked away somewhere making the place look untidy?! Budget £25-30 plus courier (which i can arrange). Can pay via paypal. Thank you.
Not secondhand or anything, and no idea of how good/bad they are, but... Try these guys: http://www.stagebeat.co.uk/product.php?pro...rinter_friendly -
Of the two-get the 7 PRO (the 3 is nothing special really) But you should look at a 4 PRO. More power than you'll ever need! AMAZING!!!

New Squier range - the final nail in MIM's coffin
basshead56 replied to nollaig's topic in Bass Guitars
To be honest, I don´t think the Mex Fenders are going anywhere. The newer ones have had some good upgrades recently and the new finishes and maple necks are great Also, the build quality seems to be great. The 50´s RI P Bass was one of the best I´ve ever played and the RW P and Jazz are the exact same, bar the finish and price differences. And the Mark Hoppus sig is the most amazing sounding bass (even unplugged!) I´ve ever heard/played/owned.Fact! I think in terms of marketing, they are going to leave them positioned where they are-resting on their laurels as a line for intermediate players to aspire to. Its not the whole hog, but it´ll be close enough for younger/newer/budget players looking to get their first Fender. While I think the MIM Standard series have alwys been overpriced, they are still great basses and I don´t think upping the QC of the Squier lines is really cannibalising their market share. However, if they (MIM) dropped in price, Fender would then perhaps be shooting themselves in the foot, as the price points would be quite similar, since the VM Series stuff has hit the 300-350 bracket. My first Fender was a MIM Jazz (still have it) and I´m glad I got it, as I had wanted a Fender Jazz since I started playing and it is great bass, There was no way I could have afforded a US built one at the time. Saved hard and got it. Still love it and take her out occasionally. -
Says 15 .08.10 now, Hope it gets there even sooner. If so, I will be leaving for New Zealand with one of these I reckon.

Nothing but tons of love for my VBA400 rig. Always been an Ampeg man through and through, but when I got lucky witha trade and landed a VBA400 halfstack, I realised nothing beats a Marshall valve amp! Its big, ugly, heavy and loud and does exactly what it should-blow you away. I bought a second VBC412 and now I have the biggest, meanest bass rig around! (is there anything more RAWK than a Gibson TBird and a Marshall Fullstack?) Makes my SVT4PRO and 610HLF look like a kids rig (when next to each other) and looks like Stonehenge next to the SVT Micro The VBA400 is heavy, but so is an Ampeg SVT. And these amps are SVT-killers. they are 100watts of valve louder and the EQ is far more responsive IMO. The VBC412 cabs are fantastic. Hadn´t used 12´s before, but love the low end rumble and the clarity of the top-end. An amzing cab-thats why i´ve got two! I´ve tried the newer midrange (MB?) head and 4x10 cab and was surprised by some of the sounds I got. All in all, I reckon I´m a Marhall fan

some tasty looking copies there. The Aerodyne Jazz copies look great. Set necks too. Wonder how they sound.

Hey guys. ok, so basically, am thinking of moving to New Zealand for a year at the end of August/mid september (depending on finances) and I want to bring a bass with me. Having never flown with an instrument, and based on the horror stories I have heard, I am not inclined to bring one of my beloved P Basses or TBirds. This narrows the choice down significantly- my sis´ band mate has offered me her purple Daisy Rock Heartbreaker s/scale bass for 45 quid. Having owned a Rock Candy before (albeit briefly), I am inclined to go for it (maybe bung in some SD 1/4 LB SPB3´s ala my Hoppus Sig) Anyway, Because its shortscale, Im assuming the same size as a guitar, I am wondering if I could carry this in a gig bag as carry on? Anyone have any info on this? Or should I hold out and buy a bass down there? Just dont want to have to spend a lot on something i may not want to keep on return and pricing online in NZ suggests they are more expensive down there.

Stunning Tim, stunning! That is a fantastic looking refin! Loving the tort pickguard too! Glad she´s being put to good use! Well wear man! Col

I've got three of em at chez Basshead, two Gibson Studios (IV and V) and a White Epiphone. I really love the design and feel of them. The necks are fast and thin. and the sound is unbeatable!big, loud and thunderous!!! Would love to try the new Nikki Sixx sig, cause the Blackbird was sexy as hell! And I'm a short-a**e, and I happen to think I look pretty cool wielding one!

Do Steinberger´s Make good Travelling Companions?
basshead56 replied to basshead56's topic in Bass Guitars
Is it a "Proper" carbon fibre Steinberger or one of the many licensed knock-offs that are available?
It´s a Steinberger Synapse XS-1FPA -
Hey guys, I am considering a move away for a few months and I would like to bring a bass with me. I wont risk bringing one of my P Basses or TBirds that far, but a Steinberger has popped up here and I´ve heard good things about them. What I´d like to know is, do they travel well? Could I bring it on a plane as carry-on luugage? Do they fit in overhead lockers on planes? Are they worth the money? Anything else I should consider?

If the amp and cab sound ok now, in the correct impedance, then you may be lucky and may have gotten away with it. My understanding is that in loading the amp incorrectly, you can damge both the amplifier´s output secton and the cab. Check it through properly at a decent volume to see if ether hisses or crackles etc. Maybe put a sticky note on the front or back panel of your amp to remind you about setting the impedance before switching it on?

Hi guys, Recently spotted a nice combi-type roadcase which housed a Marshall JVM410 in the top section and had a 6Urack below and thought ´that would be great for the rehearsal room and live gigs-VBA on top, SVT 4 PRO underneath along with power conditioner and rack tuner´. I have the dimensions for both amp heads (as stated on the Marshall website) which are as follows: VBA400 670 x 275 x 325 (mm) JVM410 730 x 310 x 215 (mm) Is this LxWxH or LxHxW? Also, do these measurements take the feet on the bottom of the amp into account? Would removing them make the VBA400 fit this case? Thanks for any help in advance , Col

looks nice. I am not really a fan of Les Pauls (6 or 4 string), but that looks kinda cool. I don´t know what they fetch second hand but I have seen them go from 550-800 in the past, so perhaps 750 is quite good? If thats the guy I´m thinking of, he sold a Marshall VBC810 on ebay recently, pity as I was interested in that If you get to have a proper look and test it out, I´m sure you´ll know yourself if it´s a good deal.
