I´ve had the Mike Dirnt sig (I still technically own one-it´s on loan). Its black with white pickguard. Loved the sound of it originally, but always wanted the Mark Hoppus P Bass sound, so popped in a set of Duncan SPB3´s-giving me best of both models (i figured). Killer tone and fab 50´s looks, whats not to love?! It was my main bass for ages (never gigged my Geddy Lee) Unfortunately, my dream bass came along (Pink Mark Hoppus sig P Bass) and it moved further down the order of preference. Of the two, I much prefer the Mark Hoppus sig as its much lighter and the natural sound of it is amazing. No tweaking or anything required and with only one volume knob in lieu of controls, it really is plug and play! And that snappy killer sound, no other bass sounds like it. and its pink!!! Anyways, I don´t mind the idea of sig basses, as long as the bass sounds good, who really cares? I dont think the prices are too good, but cant do much about that.

Traded my Ray yerterday for... Predictably, another late 70's (78 or 79?-I'm not quite sure) Precision. Lovely looking and sounding bass. Just ran it through the Ampeg rig and the Marshall rig and it sounds big and fat and raw and, well, like a Precision should. The neck profile is nice too. easy to move around on, but obviously a P neck-feels almost identical to my other two,but a fraction thinner I suppose. It doesnt weigh as much as my Oly white 78-roughly the same as my Siennaburst 78 (maybe a tad lighter). There are a few dings, scuffs and a spot or two of bare wood-mostly on the contour, but thats just mojo, isn't it? Its also the first EVER Precision I've owned with a maple board and I love it Came with original hardcase, which is immaculate. Going to gig it next weeked, with a view to it being me new beater. I'm very happy with it and will defiantely be GAS free for ANYTHING for a long time. Have and do play a pink Fender. Its the Mark Hoppus sig. Never been chatted up by a leather-capped chap after a gig using it, but have been by plenty of blondes (most of them female too) Guess it depends on the gig and the venue. Its a classic colour and the test of a real bass player!!! also the Hoppus is the best sounding stock mex Fender ever built. FACT!!!

Had to add to this. Just paired my Ampeg 610HLF with my Trace Elliot 1524 (2x15)-all powered via my Ampeg SVT 4 PRO (dual mono mode). Result: Insanity!!! Have not heard anything like that before! So much bass it made the windows shake violently.seriously, and that was only at about 9 o clock volume AND gain! If I was ever to play a huge stadium-that would be up there with my VBA400 full stack-tough choice!!! If its a choice of one, go with the SVT610HLF-resale on these is great and they are by far some of the best cabs on the market. And they seriously contend with the 8x10´s!

Hi Guys. Looking to trade my newly acquired Musicman Stingray. It´s a 1994 model according to the serial. So it´ll be vintage soon. It´s a gorgeous bass with a lovely natural finish and birdseye maple neck. it is finished with a Black pickguard. All original and beautiful I am just not a fan of the Ray tone-can´t get my head around the active Musicman thing- I´m a passive Precision kinda guy (bar my American Deluxe P of course ). I guess that´s why i sold the SUB too . Condition wise, I´d give her 8.9 out of 10. There is a one and a half lnch long nick, running through the finish on the back (centre) from what I assume was a belt (there when I got it) and some buckle rash (rash also present on the neck plate). Few tiny dings on the front and the chrome on the machine heads has tarnished very slightly (and I do mean-very slightly!) Once again, all this is purely cosmetic (typical of a bass this age )and was there prior to my ownership of the bass and I can assure you the bass plays 110% beautifully! Again, have only had this bass a fortnight, got it in trade with another BC´er. The original reciept from purchase (1996) will be included. The price new was 1,095 Punts / equivalent to €1,394 euro in ´96 There was no hardcase at either initial purchase, or trade, but an SKB case can be provided. Just watched two 93´s and two 95´s go on eBay for between 789 and 948 in the last couple of days (wasn´t sure of the value of a ray from this period) Have now decided to sell too, and will be looking for 880 ono plus P&P. Please note that I am in Ireland but can ship (maybe even travel for the right deal) Please check my feedback here on Basschat... In terms of trades, I would love any of the following: a 70´s Fender Precsion, Black/Black/Maple (dream bass!!!) New American Standard Fenders- Precisions in Black with Maple boards, Sunburst with either boards or Oly white with rosewood. Jazz´s-only looking for white or blizzard with maple board really. Would love a Steve Harris sig bass too- of either model. Gibson Thunderbirds-black or white ideally, maybe VSB. AMP GAS: Ampeg Valves! SVT CL, SVT AV, SVT VR, 2 PRO (ideally US MADE) Small portable rig, so Ampeg VR Micros or Orange TB and Iso cabs also welcome. I am really only interested in what I have listed and if the right trade doesn´t come along, perhaps I will just have to grow to love the Ray sound. Pics will follow as soon as I get my camera back. " class="ipsImage" /> " class="ipsImage" /> " class="ipsImage" /> " class="ipsImage" /> " class="ipsImage" /> The above shows the little scrape mentioned in the description. " class="ipsImage" /> " class="ipsImage" /> " class="ipsImage" /> " class="ipsImage" /> " class="ipsImage" /> Many thanks for looking, Col
