As per the title, anyone got any experience with this cab config? The VBA400 goes down to 2 ohms and the VBC412´s are 4ohm a piece. Will this RAWWK the sh*te out of anywhere I play or will it just be more clear sounding? What would be the best way of lining them up-stack or side by side? Dont fancy trying to get the VBA on top of the cabs in stack mode-as I´m not terribly tall or immensly strong and I dont have a fork lift! Any thoughts?

Think it only goes to four. Always liked the look of them, but they are quite lightweight in terms of full on power. As for the peaking, there should be an active switch/-db cut button next to the input. you could lower the gain to 3 or so and drive the volume, though that would depend a bit on what way the preamp in your bass is set up/tweaked
is it modded or imported? either way i want one =] i love the warmth of the fretless with a p/j configuration along with the clarity of the notes played. got to admire an unlined fretless for a change too, pretty unseen these days.
It's a modded 'export' model Aerodyne Jazz. There is no factory-produced fretless aerodyne Jazz Fender Japan also make a non-export Aerodyne model. The differences being a black pickguard (the export doesnt have one) and control plate. They are also available in Gun Metal Blue, Dolphin Grey, Olympic white and Candy Apple Red. The export is only avaiable in Black. And now that Fender Japan has changed distribution policies (non export models will remain exactly that as of july/august 09), the availability of non exports will be almost nil. Hope that helps
Sold a twin pickup version to a gent that goes by the name of "Remmy" in the UK a few years back, they do not seem to get the love that other bass guitars get , I know they are a little weighty but seem to be really cool and good players, any thoughts? anyone here have one or two? Gibson Artist series bass guitars.
Do you mean any Gibson bass or Gibson Victory series bass (as pictured) or Artist seris (VictoryArtist, RD Artist etc etc)?
there may be no other option but to shoot her... or just lobotomise her and hand her a guitar.
Steer well clear mate! No gig is worth that amount of bother-even starting out! Trust me-well used to this sort of carry on. And the drumkit issue just proves your lot are being pis**d on from a great height. She clearly doesn't know her opinon from her elbow and is trying to pull a fast one-getting your band to do all the work. Unfortunately, these people exist all over the world and are increasing in number rapidly
Precisions and jazzes usually have the same size neck pockets / heels and screw positions. So you can change em... You won't do any harm trying. Take the screws out - loosen each of them, don't just take them completely out one at a time. See if the neck will fit the pocket. If so (it should) put the screws back in so they poke out of the pocket a touch and see if they line up with the screw holes in the heel (if they don't the neck now won't fit!) When tightening the screws, put them in, leaving each one loose, and tighten up the two nearest the bridge first.
+1 Fender parts are for the most part standardised. I added a Geddy neck to a mexican body a few years ago and it fit like a cond*m. Do what bigjohn says-no harm in checking

If yu´re on a budget, try one or the Peavey Tour heads. They will give you plenty of volume and drive. Or check out Beedster´s thread on the new Ampeg Micro SVT head!

The general feel is that with Fender, it doesn´t really matter about the era, there will be good and bad. Perhaps the 70´s yielded more bad than any other era, or people are being overly critical when comparing them to todays standards? I have tried Jazzes from 73,74 and 76. All completely different weights and quite different soundwise (the 74 was my favourite) I own 2 78 Precisions and I love them. Nothing comes close to them! I guess it is a matter of taste

+1 to above. Consider either Seymour Duncans or Kent Armstrongs-and no others Seriously though, do as much research as you can though.

New Amp. Moving from an Ampeg SVT Classic to?
basshead56 replied to PauBass's topic in Amps and Cabs
Well, I still want that kind of warm tone so I'm also considering an Ashdown ABM head, I'm not really into Hi-Fi sounding amps. Any idea if Ashdown heads go well with Bergantino cabs?
Careful mate, ashdown can arouse contempt round these here parts.lol Personally, I cant stand em, but horses/courses -
I have found that using it in the effects loop adds a touch of distortion for some reason. But it doesn´t change or colour sound at all before the amp. Hope that helps.
No - have you used one?
I use one all the time. I have it at the end of the loop, before the amp. At its most basic, it is a gain booster that fattens up and compensates for any signal loss along the the chain (greta if using moe than 4 pedals, or effects with wave manipulation or dist.) Just set the level u want after your chain and you´re way. I have a slightly modded one I got on Evilbay and It´s great.

New Amp. Moving from an Ampeg SVT Classic to?
basshead56 replied to PauBass's topic in Amps and Cabs
Ther are loads of possibilites out there amp wise. Try a few of the Ampeg PRO range, A Mesa or two and some Mark Bass offerings. There are some great second hand Eden amps around at the mo, also, I would suggest the Orange Bass Terror (seeing as weight of the SVT is an issue) Lastly, don´t forget the TC RH450 Basically, try as many as you can and whittle down a list of what you like. as a matter of interest, would you be selling your SVT-CL? If so, how much?(may be in the market for one) -
Considered an EHX LPB-1?

Try t´local ´Aardware Store. My local has more wheels than a Kwik-Fit garage soaked in Rat pee. Just make sure the cab has fiitings for them as drilling it may cause problems. Or, try a flightcase instead.
much improved sound last weekend...... the strings made a BIG difference...was already using rotos (nickel) but switching to the stainless ones has helped me get closer. Used my AC100 valve amp with a 1x15 Hiwatt clone cab that has a celestion BL400 driver and it was clear, deep and punchy with a good bit of growl from the new strings. My only thought was would I get more of that 'clunky' Foxton sound with 4x12 ? I'd love the Marshall VBC412 but it seems its a 4ohm cab and my amp only goes down to 8ohms
I think the JCM Bass 4x12 is an 8ohm cab. Check ebay
