Guys, I just want to show you the final design for the VT1 Spitfire BASS pedal that's been discussed here and developed. All the switches are now mounted on the top of the unit and no punches pulled - this is a banger of a pedal. A swiss army knife that's got you covered in all situations and sounds a delight. Get in touch with Dave if you're interested, very easy to talk to and there maybe an opportunity for the introduction price. ?subject=VT1%20Spitfire%20BASS"]
With absolutely no disrespect to your hard work, I did prefer the previous artwork, but then I'm not a fan of union jack anything really. Is this definitely the final design? I wonder if the Spitfire badge/logo might look cool instead? Obviously not in my hands, just my opinion . Certainly is a fully featured pedal, still very very interested! Si
Cheers Si. Basschat, without doubt, should be renamed "the Slippery Slope" I've get new: the Rode NT1A bundle is £142 and the sE Electronics X1S bundle is £159 (both from Gear4Music). Not very much difference between the two in price terms. If you were going for one or the other, would you have a preference / recommendation?
It's difficult for me to be completely impartial here, as Focusrite distribute sE Electronics in the UK, however they are genuinely very good....as are the Rode mics obviously. Maybe try and have a word with Mike Flynn, if you're friends with him on Facebook etc. He's just finished some recording with the X1S and seemed very happy with it from what I gather. For balance, I'm certain you'll find NT1A users equally happy with their setup, it's all subjective Si
Cheers Si - good to know! Final newbie Q, if I may! How much difference / advantage is a condenser mic going to have over a normal performance mic for vocal recording? (I've already got a performance mic, but would need to buy a condenser mic). Is it a "must"? If so, which condenser mic would you recommend?
It's a slippery slope, you'll get better 'studio' sounding results with a condenser, which are just a lot more sensitive than a dynamic mic, but you'll then get better results by using a reflection filter, and better results with an acoustically treated room etc etc. Fortunately a decent condenser can be had for not much money. Lots of people rave about the Rode NT1A as a decent place to start, the sE Electronics X1A & X1S (especially the X1S Studio Bundle) are also great places to start. Si

SE Bass Bash 2017 - with Steve Lawson and Davey Rimmer
I'm bringing one of Ewan's headless ACGs for you too dude. You're not allowed to take it away I'm told, though he never said I had to take it back to him.... 🤓
Yes, thanks very much for that bud!! Si -
There should be no issues with hot pickups with the Gen 1 6i6. The only Gen 1 Scarlett that some people had an issue with in that regard was the 2i2, and that was changed in the Gen 2. I can't really add anything to what Tech Support told you above, so enjoy Si // Focusrite Media Relations

Totally, I'm just trying to ascertain whether the wireless is actually needed or not. Si
I've literally just bought an original knightfall!!! If only I'd known about the seaweed one, i really wanted one with a clean blend to be fair it sounds great without it! I live by the sea too
Have two Si P.s. Eugh, inadvertently bumped within 36hours, I should know better. Won't be touching this thread for a few days now, so PM me if interested in anything.
Sometimes less is more though...especially when you know that the "less" can nail it with less effort than the "more"! Well now that you've suggested it I have no choice...
Oh of course, I'm not advocating one over the other. But I agree.....get both Si
-
Gah! I was about to buy a Wounded Paw Battering Ram (v2.6) but I may just have to concede that spending half as much on this Green Muff may well be a wiser investment...
And getting half the features?! Si

I find my '71 Precision with Chromes, to my Markbass LM800 (flat eq) is perfect tone! I never quite liked Jazz basses with flats, had a '73 Jazz that I had Roto flats on a few years ago, just didn't work for me! Si

If the bass player for Ben Folds Five can work fuzz into most songs, so can you haha. I have a custom Grand Tarkin on my covers band board, sprinkle over tunes sparingly and it can be great. Si
-
I love these strings, I have a set on my '71 Precision and they're perfect. As a result, I bought two sets as spares........when will anyone need to spare sets of flats haha, the idea is to leave them on forever right?! So I'll keep one spare set, and this set needs a new home/bass. Totally as new, unopened, as if you bought them from a shop. SOLD Cheers Si

I've got the Dr Freakenstein Dwarf Bass which is a very cool little Fuzz which you can coax some madness from, made a vid of it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fgoNky_6C-c Just taken delivery of the Dr Freakenstein Dwarf Bleep Bass too (let's call it the DFDBB haha), which is a variation of the above, video coming soon! Not tried the Pulsar, but seen some people get some great sounds out of it, definitely on my list Si

Same bass as I'm borrowing at the moment. Seems decent for the price, well made and sounds fine (probably the Nordstrands to thanks for that). I kinda feel that the BTB range probably suits a 6er a little more, the substantial neck is kinda at odds with the smaller SR body.....IMO of course. But generally, very nice bass Si
-
Certainly don't want this to turn into a production vs boutique argument, different strokes for different folks, pros and cons for both etc etc. I did try the Way Huge at NAMM this past Jan and it sounded very very good! If the EHX is on par with that, and isn't built like a wet cake, then they'll have a winner on their hands. Si
Cheers Si. But am I correct that Logic and Garageband are only available on Mac, so for those of us on Windows PCs, Reaper probably is the best entry level option?
Yes absolutely, Mac only. My post wasn't a 'use Logic not Reaper', far from it, just trying to let you know about the only real 'negative' of Reaper.....which is scraping the barrel at best. It is really good Si
-
Cheers - seems like Reaper is the way to go, quite a lot of positive (and no negative) comment about it on this thread and one the most affordable options to boot.
The only real 'negative' with Reaper is that it has a lot of advanced features/options exposed all the time (just take a look at track output options), whereas something like Logic can run in a 'basic' mode to just expose the features a beginner might need. You can certainly work around it, but it does make some sections of the GUI more cluttered and harder to understand than say Garageband or Logic in 'basic' mode. Si
