1.
Extra £60 for Gold Top
Maths Shmaths . Still worth it over the Cherryburst! Si
2. No reply from Paul and Lull about SG basses (think my message feel into his 'other' inbox on Facebook). That said, I've since learned that Gibson have successfully trademarked a number of body shapes, including the SG, so definitly no production SGs from other companies. Not sure how that works for custom builders, I notice Jaydee does an SG signature copy and have said they'd do a bass if asked. Guess I'd have to look for a second hand EB3 short scale for my Dark Star project, maybe an old Tokai. Si
3. It's all about the Goldtop for an extra £40 Si
4.
What a piece of junk!
One for the fans that 😂 Si
5. I'm all for consolidating loads of basses down into a few excellent ones of the same value Si
6. Blimey....that's a good $1000 more expensive than most US Laklands, and approaching Fodera pricing! Hope you like it To be fair, this is exactly what I did in order to order my old Fodera MGS, sold a bunch of stuff I didn't use, paid for it in full (which was both excellent and depressing haha), didn't regret it Si
7. I say this a lot on a number of threads, but it's because it's true......If you think there aren't any original bands, then you're not looking hard enough. There's an incredible amount of original music that is interesting, passionate and isn't trying to copy the past, you just have to invest in some time to search it out amongst all the other noise. We're not in the 70s or 80s anymore, cool bands don't just appear on TV and the mainstream radio every day, but they're still out there touring and working ridiculously hard. Also remember that melody is restrictive, there's only so many notes, but it's the context in which it sits that makes it unique, one melody over one set of chords will sound completely different over a different set of chords. So maybe you're right, melodies over G, C, D do sound derivative nowadays, maybe it's your brain crying out for something more harmonically complex, who knows. Maybe we should make some suggestions. I would say go and listen to Bent Knee, perhaps the song Land Animal.....and genuinely listen to the whole track: https://www.youtube....h?v=ocn0gkJ2sMY Si p.s. I play covers and originals, I too don't really make a distinction, but I'm lucky to play in a covers band that has that outlook. We do our own thing and have fun with it.

There's a thread on here already about them, try doing a search and it should come up, there are some owners here. I thought they were custom orders, so may not have a large stock for you to browse and buy. Si
10.
Did the OP really mean to write thugs in the title?
Probably: No Everyone hopes: Yes Si
11. I agree with the above point on RAM, I'd also say 8gb at the very least And if you're looking to really go to town on the 16 channels of audio you mention (i.e. lots of processing and plugins etc.....you might not think you will now, but it's a slippery slope), then 16gb plus! Si
12. No it doesn't effect tuning as long as you put it past the nut when you choose to tune, that's as easy as moving your hand down the neck. And quite right, it's about control, and this affords even more control . Everyone knows they're not 'on' all the time right?! You just shift them up and down as needed. But as with any gear, it should be used as an addition to your technique, never a substitute! Si
13. That's good to hear! The multiple USB audio device issue doesn't surprise me, MacOS is still crap at setting up aggregate devices too! Si
14. Because the Scarlett series is class compliant (ie it uses the core audio driver), and we test heavily on Mac (which is obviously Unix based as well), there shouldn't be any issues on Linux type systems...although we don't test them directly, just Mac & Windows are 'officially' supported. 15.
Si just likes an excuse to pop into 'Accessorise'
Wash your mouth out!! Claire's Accesories TiLl i DiE! But in all all seriousness it's just about finding something that works for you. I rarely use mine, but they're an easy 'addition' to make, cheap, don't get in the way, nice to have and. It need than the other way around. As above, I've worked hard on my muting with both hands, but if I can add to that even further without any pay-off, I will Si
16.
+1 I've started using these because I'm having to use a pick a lot more for the stuff I'm playing in one particular band, and my palm-muting technique is just terrible. First time I brought one to rehearsal, the drummer asked me at the end why I was using a capo. I use the ridiculously expensive ones because I know they work. Si, are the Claire's Bobbins ones really as effective?
They're certainly perfect for what I want. Tight enough to deaden a note quickly, not tight enough to completely kill an open string if I need it (sounds Palm muted). Loose enough to naturally slide back down mid playing. Si
17. Yeah I use scrunchies, 3 for £3.50 from Claire's Accessories. Kitted out all three of my basses. The fact that Gruvgear have people £15 each for them is amazing to me. Si
18.
Sorry.
Don't say sorry to me haha, say sorry to the plethora of incredible artists that apparently don't exist, and most importantly, to your ears Si
19. Saying pop simply means 'popular' (it's historical meaning I guess), completely invalidates the initial suggestion. There are SOOOOOO many bands/musicians as good as Level 42 technically (being the the example here) who also have good songs and are popular in their field. If you think there aren't, then you genuinely aren't looking hard enough and you should stop talking about it . If you're talking about Pop (capital P) as a genre then it's all about cycles isn't it, that said, it's all out the window now anyway. When Level 42 were in their heyday, you got in the charts by selling records, and people would only hear those records if you were on the radio or TV. Now it's also download sales and you can hear those songs via any thousands of methods on the internet. So comparing like-for-like is pointless. Sometimes they converge (i.e. major label money with actual good musicians), but not often, usually just individual artists who they think will sell a lot of units. Take Maroon 5 for example, they're all excellent musicians.....like really really good! But they write 'Pop' music, just because there's no slap bass or chorus effect on it....doesn't mean it's not as valid as Level 42 Si

Really like my Guma Antique, sounds great. I'm imagining the Guma Drive has a bit more top-end content, which might be helpful in some instances. As above, I imagine they stack well together. My Guma Drive is still sitting in my bits box ready to build.....rainy day project Cheers Si

22.
You mean this?
Exactly Si
23. Someone needs to buy this, replace the pickup with a DiMarzio (with the black pole-pieces), tapewound strings, and black frets (or convert to fretless with Ebony lines haha. Then it's finished Si
