Yeah the Regal sounds great to my ears! I haven’t compared it to my actual Noble yet, but think it will compare favourably. Si

My Lakland bass is a straight-up passive P/J, nothing fancy. It was working perfectly, both pickups on full, sounded lovely, nothing weird. Then I took it to a tech who, for reasons that are boring, removed the pickups and then had to refit them. However, now, when both pickups are on full, they are horribly out of phase, thin and weedy sounding. I have to slightly back one of them off to get them working properly again. I’ll post a pic of the cavity tomorrow, but any immediate thoughts why this might have started happening after the refit? Wired in a particular (wrong?) way? Cheers Si

The EBS seem to be the way to go, has anyone compared them to the Donner ones? Si

MXR Bass Chorus all the way for me….also includes a bonus Flanger effect too. Si

Those using a 35" 5 string and flatwounds.....

I think basically my Lakland can use Long Scale fine (like the White Nylons it currently has), so that’s fine. Not so with my Elrick unfortunately, it has a zero fret which means that it needs Extra Long Scale, slightly annoying but meh. Si -

Do you find that the 34” sets fit 35”? Or do you go for the 36” sets? Si -
Another article: https://empireears.com/blogs/news/why-you-should-never-wear-only-one-in-ear-monitor#:~:text=Wearing a single earphone increases,a risk to your hearing. Si

Really really bad for your hearing. Generally speaking, if you don't get moulded/fitted ear-pieces, any generic IEM earbud will let in enough ambient sound in order to monitor your bass and the band. Flipping this on its head, I find that standard moulded earplugs (if you don't wear them already) can lead to much better vocal monitoring, as you naturally hear it more in your head. Si

I tell you what, I have a proper Love/Hate relationship with these White Nylon strings. I HATE them acoustically, horrible clattering strings, but plugged in on a gig, they’re lush and feel sooo good. I go in and out of wanting to change them…..tonight I might leave them a little longer haha. Si -

Yeah TI's are probably a good shout to take a look at. Don't think I've ever tried GHS, so will look at what's around. Cheers Si -

Yeah I have White Nylons on the bass at the moment (should have mentioned that), and love them, but the tensions is a little toooooo light. I like how malleable they are to the fingers, but the clattering on the frets is too much for me. Figured some low-ish tension flats would be a good middle ground. Si -
Very specific setup I know, but which strings are you using? I don't want anything too high tension....which is somewhat difficult considering the 35" scale. Thoughts? Cheers Si

£11k with a refinished neck? Does that mean the logo is also a replica? I'm no expert, but the burst colour doesn't look right to me either, but could be down to lighting potentially. Si

You don't need an XLR converter to go 'DI', just change the output of the HX Stomp to Line level, and if the desk you're going to is worth its salt, it will have a 1/4" Line input on each channel, boom, done. It has decent SVT/Sansamp models on it, as well as a bunch of other cool Bass stuff. Tuner is good too. Si

Fully agree that, being somewhat of an update of their old M5, it's now essentially a budget H9. Interesting, but then the Helix range has always been a bit of a mess from a marketing perspective.....as good as they are of course. Si
-
So they've basically re-released the M5 but with the HX engine. Apparently the M5 was popular in studios where you only need one effect....'apparently', but I can't really see that this was the use-case for this as they also now have the HX Native multi-effects VST. I guess at £250 it puts it in the 'boutique pedal' category, but with a LOT more functionality compared to many of those types of pedals. But it's a dangerous game....the 'boutique' market is mostly analogue and quirky digital pedals, not these utilitarian multi-fx type offerings. So yeah.....not exactly sure who this is for?! And that is from someone who loves my HX Stomp! *EDIT* Link is dead now, and Line6 website isn't updated, so looks like Sweetwater did a little leaky leak. Si

It seems to me that, based on the fact that he’s a monster player, and playing funk music is literally his job, it doesn’t surprise me he nailed it very quickly. I like Cory Wong, it’s good fun and impeccably executed, but it also seems about 30% chops/hits/sparkle & 70% grooving around 3 or 4 chords. So again, no surprise a player as good as Vincen smashed it IMO. Si

Hey all, I don’t suppose anyone has a spare UK adapter (the bit they supply that slides onto the power supply)? I’ve managed to mislay my adapter it seems. Line6 seemingly don’t supply that piece separately and instead want to sell me a new £55 power supply 🙄 Cheers Si
