Surely you'd just send him the Mic/cab sim & the amp DI as two separate channels, and let him mix them appropriately. But really, most venue sound engineers know their gear and know what sounds good. If they're polite they might let you set it up, but then just do what they want at the desk (as mentioned above). If they're rude, they'll just tell you to f**k off lol. The way around this is to take your own sound-guy.....which not many originals bands can afford to do Si

I'm a proper unashamed OC-2 fanboy, it's my Octave of choice. However, the closest modern equivalent you'll find is the COG stuff. If you have money for an octave, and aren't fussed about 'vintage' Boss pedals (which the OC-2 is now), then COG should always get your money! (I have a T-16) Si

Worth noting that the OC-2/OC-3 is not octave up, only octave down. Most 'Octave Fuzzes' are an analogue octave up (as opposed to digital octave up like the POGs of this world), analogue octave ups are notoriously subtle, especially in a band mix. The Earthquaker Tentacle is one such analogue octave up fuzz. The TC is obviously a digital pedal and does a proper octave up. I stopped by the BC booth twice and had a good chat both times. I think part of the issue was that it was in the main hall.....and the main hall was LOUD. Perhaps it would have been better having the BC booth a bit closer to the entrance?! Si

The TC is obviously a good shout, especially at used prices. Or if you can find a Mooer Tender Octaver, usually about £55. They're basically a POG clone. Rare though as EHX kicked up a stink and now no-one sells them lol Si

If the issue is your bass (i.e. a lack of a feature), why not have a luthier add a passive tone control on your bass? Easy enough to do. Even possible to have a tone control work across active and passive, pretty helpful. Si

I always found the idea that you have to actively 'copyright' something when you create it. You don't. As soon as you create something, you own the copyright until you explicitly sign it away. Of course, the trick is proving that ownership. Usually that's not an issue in todays age where people demo and demo and demo. All those files would be time and date-stamped, which would hold up in court against an infringer who wouldn't be able to provide any 'work in progress' evidence. There's obviously different levels of this, different ways of proving ownership (the CD in the post is effective in some cases, but fairly old school). If it were me, I would simply ask the the promoter if he understands that he doesn't have permission to sell your songs (especially seeing as he didn't ask permission to make the recording in the first place). That said, I'd also be interested in perhaps getting hold of those recordings....if you deem them to be good enough....for extra content down the line. So asking him not to release them, giving him credit and whatever royalties are realistic (I don't know how popular your band is), and you release them at your discretion. Si

I also know this feeling. Solved by having flats on my '71 P, playing my other two basses (Jazz & humbuckered 5 string) at home/rehearsals/other appropriate gigs.....and just knowing that the P sounds better on almost every other gig/recording. Si

It's a little more Silver in real life, but yeah, really nice. I don't mind the acrylic at all, but treating it as a 'fender custom colour, would certainly get a mint green (vintage white) for it. Wouldn't put a tort on it though lol Si
