I didn't notice myself until just now...
Oooo, the string tree!? Si
 2.
Common Name(s): Pau Ferro, Morado, Bolivian Rosewood, Santos Rosewood Scientific Name: Machaerium spp. (Machaerium scleroxylon) Distribution: Tropical South America (mainly Brazil and Bolivia) Tree Size: 65-100 ft (20-30 m) tall, 3-5 ft (1-1.5 m) trunk diameter Average Dried Weight: 54 lbs/ft3 (865 kg/m3) Specific Gravity (Basic, 12% MC): .70, .87 Janka Hardness: 1,960 lbf (8,710 N) Modulus of Rupture: 17,750 lbf/in2 (122.4 MPa) Elastic Modulus: 1,574,000 lbf/in2 (10.86 GPa) Crushing Strength: 8,830 lbf/in2 (60.9 MPa) Shrinkage: Radial: 2.8%, Tangential: 6.7%, Volumetric: 9.9%, T/R Ratio: 2.4
Lol, I take your point. I think what I meant was that it's not the more common Indian Rosewood, I think more people are likely to identify it as Pau Ferro than Bolivian Rosewood?! Anyway, doesn't matter, lovely looking fingerboard and great looking bass GLWTS Si
 3. Is that definitely Rosewood, it looks more like Pau-Ferro?! Doesn't really matter either way, just interested Si
 4. I do love dots with binding! Great choice! Si
 5. Very cool, good find Si
 6.
Plus shipping & tax. But in the context of living and working in NYC (or London for that matter), I understand the price.
My friend did some research and it's circa £9600 imported/shipped to the EU. And Brooklyn is pretty bloody expensive nowadays, think East London vibes Si
 7. Love it, really fantastic spec and colour/wood choices! Si
 8.
I agree that the headstock is 100% hideous. I think it was a size consideration, because they wanted it to fit new regulations for travelling with instruments. But I'm not sure if designing an instrument, and then just slicing a bit of it off counts as a particularly elegant design solution. Still - a short scale 5 string headless single cut which sounds this good is a pretty amazing thing. Anyone seen the price tag? $11,650 means waiting until someone with a less 'New York' sense of what money means rips the idea off and makes their own version of it.
I don't think so. It's basically a £9k bass delivered. I would wager that a LOT of us have multiple basses that total that worth, so it just takes someone who wants one bass for everything they do, who flies a lot for this to be more than worth it. Yes it's niche, but Fodera are hardly bothered with critical mass. Si
 9. Similar sentiments here, yucky headstock, but presumably there to cater for the detuner only. If they're savvy, they'll offer a version with no detuner and a reduced headstock size. But overall I like it, the clincher for me is the painted neck through carve, beautiful work. Apparently it comes in Olympic white too, which will be fantastic I expect! If I played Fodera and flew....a LOT, this would be a tempting prospect, but neither is true fortunately haha. Si
 10.
My 10-week alarm clock has just started to ring. :-)
Going to hint at any spec yet? Si
 11.
Some absolutely stunning basses here. For those of you that have bought one, how much is customisable? There doesn't seem to be a list of options unless I'm being stupid. Can the nut width or fingerboard radius be changed? As an example.
You can specify almost anything Si
 12. That said, I've just listened to his cover of 'Close To You', and that's pretty special. Si
 13.
This track, Hideaway, from his new album, is just lovely https://m.youtube.co...h?v=4v3zyPEy-Po
I've been aware of him for a while, and like a few, blown away by his ability, but just not bothered about the excess of covers. Was a little underwhelmed by the tune he did with Snarky Puppy, but still a cool collab, but just heard that Hideaway track for the first time.......that's more like it!! Genuine interest! Will explore the album Si
 14.
Just checking, are you connecting the correct way round. i.e. in and out the right direction.
This sounds silly, but I've had a few people do this with pedals I've built for them, certainly worth checking! If plugged in correctly, and all volumes (octaves and direct) are up full, and still no signal. I'd pop it along to a pedal repairer. I recommend Owen Electronics, did a cracking job on my Line6 DL4: http://www.owenelectronics.co.uk Si
 15.
It's a cracking bass! I no longer have the need for a 5 or I would have considered getting it back. Who ever buys this will be very happy!
Thanks Joe, yeah it's a fantastic instrument, easily on par with Fodera quality build! Si
 16. I've got it on Gumtree too, not on eBay. Although there's another very similar build for sale on here, so could be that one Si

 18.
I had no idea that the Mantic even existed. This has opened a whole new seam of GAS for me
It was a short run of pedals by Mantic, an exact clone of the Meatbox (whereas their Density Hulk is remodelled). The Beefbag was discontinued the day the DOD reissue was announced. Si
 19. Harmonic Frequency Generator, basically a very synthy fuzz with sweepable frequencies, gated and a 'chaos' control (who doesn't love a chaos control. Excellent condition (velcro on bottom of pedal), boxed with instructions. SOLD Trades welcomed, although not much I'm after at the moment, try me though Cheers Si

 21. Hi all, I really really like this bass, but in an effort to get down to 3 basses, I'm looking to sell my Fender Japan Medium Scale Jazz (Made In Japan). This is a 32" scale bass, with the rest of the bass also slightly reduced in size, meaning a slightly smaller body etc. These are fairly rare and really wonderful basses. Mine is what you might call a Candy Apple Red, all stock except for Dimarzio Ultra Jazz pickups. The bass is passive, however a previous owner has had a plastic battery compartment routed into the rear of the bass, ready for a preamp should you want to add one. I'll also include two new and unopened sets of Dimarzio Pro Steels medium scale strings (45-100) - EXL170M: http://daddario.com/...0__Medium_Scale It's currently strung with EXL170M strings (as above). The bass comes with the original white 3 ply scratchplate, but is currently fitted with a see-through acrylic scratchplate. I would say the bass is in 8/10 condition, with only a few small impact marks on the underside of the bass, and incredibly light swirls on the rear of the bass. There are a couple of very small rough patches to the lacqer on the very end of the headstock, can't capture on photo though. I do not have a spare case/bag for this, so I would highly advise collection from Welwyn Garden City, High Wycombe or London. You can listen to the bass at the following link, all three Corybantic tracks were recorded with the bass: Corybantic.bandcamp.com £450 - No Trades Thanks Si
 22. Yes Malcolm is retired now, but I've had some dealings with Neil recently and the service and strings are still brilliant. Si
